ADAMS A native of Houston, Texas, Adams began her singing career with Houston’s Southeast Inspirational Choir. She later signed a recording contract with Sound of Gospel, which yielded her first album Just As I Am. When discovered by producer/keyboardist Ben Tankard, 3 years later, Adams shifted gears for a more jazzier sound and signed to Tankard’s independent label Tribute Records and released Through The Storm. Tankard’s goal with Tribute Records during this time was to develop an audience for a smoother gospel/jazz sound. The collaboration received positive response from gospel, jazz and “quiet storm” community. One year later, Adams followed with Save the World, which included her first signature song “The Battle Is The Lord’s”. During this time Tribute Records’ parent company Diadem Music Group merged with Benson Music Group, which was eventually bought by New York-based Zomba/Verity Records. Songs from the Heart was her final release for Verity Records, including “Only Believe”, which were popular songs on contemporary radio. The album also included “Still I Rise,” a dedication to Rosa Parks, which was inspired by the Maya Angelou poem of the same name. (Inspired by.... Wants To Give Her Audience What?)

ADAMS

Adams’ first significant attention outside the Urban Contemporary Gospel arena came with the release of Mountain High... Valley Low in 1999 on Elektra Records. Several mainstream artists and producers helped in the production of this album including Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson, Boyz II Men), James “Big Jim” Wright (Mariah Carey, Nicole C. Mullen), Warryn Campbell (Mary Mary, Brandy), and Keith Thomas (BeBe & CeCe Winans). The album went 2x Platinum and won Adams a Grammy Award. Notable singles from the album include “Yeah”, “Fragile Heart”, and “Open My Heart”. After the release of “What a Wonderful Time”, Adams embarked on the radio market with her “The Yolanda Adams Morning Show.” The show proved to be a huge success, taking over 26 markets in just two years. Currently, the show is heard in 49 markets. In 2010, Adams released her book “Points of Power”, based on one of the segments of her radio show. Today, Yolanda continues to touch lives, not only through her inspirational music, radio show, books, but now Simply Yolanda.

sunflower SeedOil Sunflower Seed Oil: Extremely rich in omega-6 EFA’s.

camelinaOil Camelina sativa is a flowering plant in the family Brassicaceae and is usually known in English as camelina, gold-of-pleasure, or false flax, also occasionally wild flax, linseed dodder, German sesame, and Siberian oilseed. It is native to Europe and to Central Asian areas. This plant is cultivated as oilseed crop mainly in Europe and in North America. High in essential fatty acids and natural tocopherols (natural Vitamin E); nourishing and helps to heal and treat skin conditions. Helps to repair cells and improves the elasticity of skin. Excellent conditioner for skin and hair. Very rich in both omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids.

borageOil Borage (Borago officinalis), also known as a starflower, is an annual herb. It is native to the Mediterranean region and has naturalized in many other locales. It grows satisfactorily in gardens in the UK climate, remaining in the garden from year to year by self-seeding. The leaves are edible and the plant is grown in gardens for that purpose in some parts of Europe. The plant is also commercially cultivated for Borage seed oil extracted from its seeds. Traditionally borage was cultivated for culinary and medicinal uses, although today commercial cultivation is mainly as an oilseed. The seed oil is desired as source of gammalinolenic acid (GLA, 18:3, cis 6,9,12-octadecatrienoic acid), for which borage is the highest known plant-based source (1728%). These are EFA’s. Traditionally Borago officinalis is used in hyperactive gastrointestinal, respiratory and cardiovascular disorders, such as gastrointestinal (colic, cramps, diarrhea), airways (asthma, bronchitis), cardiovascular, (cardiotonic, antihypertensive and blood purifier), urinary (diuretic and kidney/bladder disorders). Naturopathic practitioners use borage for regulation of metabolism and the hormonal system, and consider it to be a good remedy for PMS and menopause symptoms such as the hot flush.

evening primroseOil Evening Primrose Oil contains a high concentration of a fatty acid called GLA and it is this fatty acid that is largely responsible for the remarkable healing properties of the plant. In fact, Evening Primrose contains one of the highest concentrations known of this important substance and only a few other plants contain it at all. This makes Evening Primrose an important medicinal herb, and as studies continue, the list of benefits will likely become much longer. The gamma-linoleic acid, linoleic acid and other nutrients in this oil are essential for cell structure and improve the elasticity of the skin. These fatty acids also help to regulate hormones and improve nerve function aiding problems ranging from PMS to migraine headaches. The hormone balancing effect contributes to healthy breast tissue.

arganOil Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa L.), endemic to Morocco, that is valued for its nutritive, cosmetic and numerous medicinal properties. It is also known in cosmetic use as moroccan oil. Rich in GLA as well as caffeic acid (a soothing molecule) and catechins (potent antioxidants) it helps protect the skin as well as maintain a healthy complexion.
