About me I was born in Vitoria, Basque Country, 27 years ago. My love for architecture grew in me after I started feeling the need of improving and reinventing the spaces where I was living in and visiting. I was continuously looking for different ways and alternatives of making them more practical, comfortable, warm... I found the need of creating them myself. It was then when I decided that I wanted to deliver this, not just for me, but for everyone else. My eagerness to experience the insights of the professional and real world of architecture led me to start my self-employed activity, while still finishing my university studies in San Sebastian, allowing me to gain experience and professional growth. Responsible, creative and organised person, with initiative and good interpersonal skills, who likes learning from new experiences and is capable of integrating into different fields. Always willing to keep learning and looking to take on new challenges, especially living in an architecturally exciting city like London.

Architectural Technician Boxco2 Consultants As part of the architectural team, my responsibilities include project management, client administration and project execution in coordination with the contractors and engineers. I am also responsible of preparing design and construction drawing packages, developing specifications for construction works, preparing regulatory applications for statutory approvals and making site visits among others.

Freelance Architectural Technician Since my second year of university, I have been working as self-employed developing a wide range of projects. I worked as architect assistant developing residential and retail projects in Spain, designing and preparing construction drawings, cost estimates and attending project related meetings. As an architectural technician, I have carried out site surveys and prepared drawings of the existing spaces for Anglo Spanish Nursery School (London). I have also worked as a designer and project manager on a single dwelling conversion project in South London, preparing design drawing packages, carrying out site surveys, client meetings and planning applications for statutory approvals.

FEB 2010 - JUL 2012

Assistant Manager 86 St James As assistant manager of an event and catering company, I was in charge of a group of 25+ people. This helped me improving my organizational and leadership skills. As freelance, I carried out the survey of the building (event rooms, common areas and service areas) and prepared drawings for the management team.

This Store Design Guide has around 40 fixtures and also a wide range of details for all the interior finishes of the stores; wall, floor, and ceiling details among others. This guide has been part of our day to day work for the past two and a half years. We have been rethinking and refining the way all the fixtures work, making them luxurious and at the same time cost efficient, one of our client´s most important requirements. Our work began with Concept V1, V2 afterwards and recently we have concluded with V3.

Along with the brand´s architectural team, we have developed a new concept prototype in Paris, inside Chloe´s headquarters in Avenue Percier, where people involved in the process could take a look at some of the most important fixtures and an example of Chloe´s new concept store.

The aim of this Store Guide is that every country will be able to manufacture and build the stores under the same aesthetic, regardless of where they are and who builds them. In order to achieve this, we have been working very closely with different millworkers around the world (Europe, Asia, North America…) to deliver the best luxury stores to construction.

As Chloe´s production architects, our work was to deliver design and construction drawing packages for their stores worldwide. From shop in shops, to flagship stores in some of the world´s most iconic locations like Madison Avenue in New York City. We take Chloe´s new concept and apply it to each site taking into consideration any unique condition, landlord requirement or local regulation, working very closely with local Architecture firms.



French brand Chloe has been working on their international expansion with their new concept.













Most of our work are for international locations, from NYC or Los Angeles in America to Tokyo in Japan, passing through Dubai in the Middle East. We have also delivered projects for Europe and acted as local architects and project managers for their stores in London, dealing with contractors, international joiners, suppliers and landlords. All this is possible by having an extensive communication and regular meetings with our client´s architectural department and external consultants, which was one of my main duties on these projects. Working on these projects has proved a great opportunity to learn in a small and friendly environment how to deal with the day by day

LIST OF THE KOOPLES PROJECTS

Since their expansion to the UK in 2010, Boxco2 has been responsible for carrying out their entire stores in the UK, starting with the first shop in 36 King´s Road, steps away from London´s historical Sloane Square.

SHOP FRONT ELEVATION LAYOUT - SOUTH MOLTON

In 2013 this French based brand, decided to start the implementation of their new concept design and as it could not be otherwise, the first one to be renovated was their store in King´s Road. This new concept design has been refined and upgraded to add a higher level of sophistication. We are working closely with The Kooples architectural department to implement this new concept to the highest standard in each one of the new stores, taking into account all the particularities and structural challenges of each one of them. As local architects and project managers, working together with their French based in house architects responsible of the initial design, our responsibility covers from the survey of the space, strip out of the existing unit, management of local contractors, engineers, joiners and different providers, to dealing with planning officers and landlord´s agents, until the handover of the unit to our client´s standards. We have had the opportunity to implement this new The Kooples & The Kooples Sport concept in their London´s most important high street locations, King´s Road, Brompton Road, South Molton Street, Westfield shopping centre and currently developing their new flagship store in Carnaby Street. All these projects include structural work, due to the new marble floor loads, electrical, mechanical and lighting projects, visual merchandise solutions and a completely new shop front, making sure all this complies with local authorities.

SHOP FRONT ELEVATION - KENSINGTON

Since the shoe designer brand Ash was founded in 2000, they have expanded their brand to the point where now they can be seen in some of London´s best high street locations. Some examples are, Marylebone High Street and Kensington Church Street, among others. Their stores combine leather walls, stone floors, wood fixtures and eye-catching window displays, which gives birth to modern aesthetics and interesting concepts. Part of this success has been possible thanks to the attention to details and impeccable job Boxco2 has provided while building some of their stores. We have been involved in the process of creating stores to our client´s expectations, following their guidance during the designing process. Like for other projects, we were appointed local architects and project managers for the completion of the stores.

Swizz brand Breitling appointed Boxco2 in 2013 to deliver their new boutique in New Bond Street. Breitling specializes in high quality precision watches, which is what they aimed to show in their new boutique in Central London and it is exactly what Boxco2 delivered for this project. After the completion of their boutique in New Bond Street, Boxco2 was contacted again, this time to work on their new offices situated in Cavendish Square. For this project we were the local architects, working together with the swizz firm in charge of the design. Our responsibility covered from the survey of the existing space, strip out of existing unit, management of local contractors, engineers and providers, to the design of common spaces and the custom furniture of the offices for joinery production. Regular site meetings with the contractor and the client took place to make sure we delivered exactly what our client wanted. Boxco2 has been working since 2010 with The Kooples on their expansion into the UK delivering high quality boutiques. This time, for their new project in South Molton Street, we helped them not just with the new store but with their new offices situated on the top floors.

This new offices will be the logistic center for the UK management team and also the new meeting place for their France base architectural team. The new offices are located on the second and third floor of the building, right on top of the new double storey boutique.

This new offices consist of new kitchenette, new bathroom, meeting room, and two different desk areas for London based management team.

Our responsibility as local architects, regarding the offices on this new location, was to survey the totality of the building and, together with the UK manager, design the new office spaces, taking into consideration all the needs their London base team could have. We have also developed the furniture and dealt with the contractor and suppliers to finalize the offices in record time, as they wanted to move in before the store opened its doors.

SURVEY PLANS OF EXISTING SPACE - GROUND AND F

For this project, I was contacted by the client to arrange a visit into the dwelling to check the feasibility of conversion into two self contained flats. The client´s aim for this project was to create two family homes; one on the ground floor which would include a master bedroom, single bedroom, family bathroom and a kitchen-dining-living area with direct access to the back garden, and a second family home on the upper floors to include a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, two single bedrooms, extra bathroom and kitchendining-living area.

The existing space of this single dwelling was not enough to achieve this and therefore a new rear extension and a loft conversion was proposed to the council. Also, the demolition of the existing rear garage was necessary in order to gain some more garden space.

FRONT GARDEN

The use of space was key on this project, as every inch had to be well used, not just to comply with building regulations and London´s design standards, but to create a comfortable space for the two families. My duty was to design different layout options for both flats in order to incorporate all the desired spaces. To achieve this, an initial survey of the existing dwelling was carried out and regular meetings and an extensive communication with the client were essential, as well as a good knowledge of the local authority’s regulations. Once a final layout was decided, planning documentation and drawings set was prepared and submitted to the council for their final decision.

A two storey rear extension was proposed to the council, sliding clear glass doors on the ground floor, relocation of the existing window and a new side window on the first floor, always being the materials for the new extension the same as the existing house. The existing single storey side extension was enlarged to the rear to be flush with the new rear extension.

The goal was to obtain a bigger and brighter living space on the ground floor, bigger master bedroom with a new en-suite bathroom on the upper floor, and an enlargement of the existing side extension to gain more floor space for their pet business.

Private Housing Basque Country

PRIVATE HOUSING - BERRIKANO

GENERAL ARRANGEMENT PLAN - BASEMENT

During my second year of university, I began to work as an architect assitant in a wide range of retail and residential projects. I have chosen the following two projects as a reflection of the work I developed during this time in my hometown. Private Housing in Berrikano is an example of the Basque Country Architeture, in which for years, ancient materials like stone, wood and ceramic have prevailed. But this time, with a modern interior design.

ROOF PLAN

I did develop the construction drawings with the supervision of the main architect and monitor the execution of works from the beginning, writing a weekly construction progress report for one of my university subjets. Private Housing in Vitoria is a project in which I assisted the main architect in the creation of construction drawings, cost estimates and project related meetings with the client, contractor and suppliers. PRIVATE HOUSING - VITORIA

This project was a new construction family house split in two levels, consisting of 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living-dining area and a garage.

Council Housing University BUILDING 3D VIEWS

This project was part of the Architectural Projects subject of 3rd year of university. The goal of this project was to develop a council residential complex from a given basic external shape of the building. Statutory regulations on living areas, common areas, heights, had to be taken into account when designing the interior and exterior layouts of the building. The number of houses in the building and the sizes in terms of bedrooms were preset and a good use of the space was key to achieve the stablished requirements. A full set of drawings was produced for submission, including: general arrangement layouts for all floors, partition plans, cross and long sections, external elevations and 3D views.

Final Project University LOCATION PLAN

As a final degree project, I decided to develop the structural and interior design of a 4 storey building of 12 houses, with basement parking space and ground floor business premises. The main part of this final project was the structural design of the building, for which computer aided calculation program (CYPE) was used along with traditional calculation methods. I also developed the interior layout of the building, consisting on 12 houses of 2 bedrooms 2 bathroom, living-dining area and kitchen-dining area.
