2009 SPEAKERS AT YOUR CONFERENCE Norm Warner, has been putting his Bachelor of commerce degree to good use since joining Aon Reed Stenhouse Inc. in the Fall of 2003. He is currently an Account Manager in the Aviation Practice Group with particular emphasis on providing service to Aon‟s Airport clients. One of Norm‟s primary responsibilities is the day-to-day handling of a national airport insurance program. He is also responsible for managing and negotiating aviation insurance programs on behalf of Aon‟s corporate jet clients, as well as a number of Fixed Base Operators and Aircraft Maintenance facilities. Les Dunn is a Senior Risk Control Consultant with Aon Risk Control Services. He specializes in the areas of Product Liability, Business Continuity Planning and Security issues including internal thefts and cash handling procedures. Les has just recently qualified for his Certified Anti-Terrorism (CAS) designation which enables him to provide terrorism based threat assessments and assist in developing terrorism related continuity plans. He is currently responsible for Tier 1 and Tier 2 airports in Canada and also works with aircraft refuelling contractors at the major airports providing a variety of Risk Control services. Jason Scott his experience in business development and operations management is broad covering construction and maintenance of institutional, commercial, educational and healthcare facilities. In 2006, having completed his BSc with Honors from the University of Waterloo and the Facilities Management Administrator‟s diploma from BOMI, Jason was promoted by Black & McDonald to Site Manager, and currently manages facilities and operations projects at Toronto‟s Lester B. Pearson International Airport. Jason‟s Facility Management and Operations areas of expertise include sub-contractor management, budgets and estimating, workplace safety and the insurance act, bargaining, health and safety, as well as policy and training development programs. With this background, Jason believes in a holistic approach to providing solutions to his Clients. Steve Horwood has been active in all aspects of the Facility Maintenance and Operations (FMO) and Construction industries since the 1970s with experience both on the Client and service sides of the business. Steve takes a very active role with The Mechanical Service Contractors Association (MSCA), the first and only Canadian active at the committee level, currently on the Training & Education Committee. Steve first joined Black & McDonald in 2000, and since 2008, has been working with facility owners, developers and municipalities in assessing the opportunities and challenges associated with deploying renewable energies such as solar photo voltaic. Steve‟s ability to integrate his FMO experience with the necessary due diligence required for legacy projects such as solar photovoltaic, provides Clients with long term energy solutions and peace of mind. Eric Tolton AAE joined Transport Canada as a Flight Service Specialist in Inuvik in 1980. After multiple positions, he joined the GTAA in 1996, as the Manager, Airfield Operations, and now is the Director of Operations, with responsibility for the safe and efficient movement of people, vehicles and aircraft into and out of Toronto Pearson International Airport. The work involves extensive coordination with Air Carriers, Air Traffic Control, and both Canadian and US Customs and Security Agencies. He is the Past Chair of the Board of Directors for the IAAE Canada and is also on the Board of Directors of IAAE. Wil MacMillan AAE - Wil MacMillan, A.A.E. from helicopter pilot with the Air Forces, through Georgian College, graduating with a diploma in Civil Aviation & Airport Management & Operations to Toronto‟s Pearson International Airport, as Apron Coordinator for Lockheed then Supervisor Apron Operations and Manager, Snow Removal and Glycol Recovery/Disposal. Then In 1999, Wil moved across the tarmac and became Manager, Aviation Standards, Noise & Enforcement (GTAA). Then assumed the role of Senior Manager for the Terminal 1 (T1) Apron Management Unit but now for the GTAA aprons and in 2007 was promoted to General Manager, Airside Operations. In this current role, Wil is responsible for the Airport Operating Certificate, the Airside Quality Assurance Program, the T1 & T3 Apron Management Units, the Central Deicing Facility, the Noise Management Program and is the Airside Customer Relations Manager for Toronto Pearson International Airport. Wil achieved his accreditation with IAAE Canada in 2006. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the IAAE Canada and is also the Chair of the Accreditation Committee. Wil has been a member of the Advisory Committee for the Aviation Management Program at Georgian College since 2004 and is currently the GTAA representative for the Canadian Airports Council, Operational Safety and Technical Affairs Committee. Don Enns has been an Air Safety Investigator for Transportation Safety Board and its predecessor Canadian Aviation Safety Board since 1984. During that time he has been responsible for investigations into all kinds of aircraft accidents and incidents, everything from ultralight, helicopter, general aviation, and large air carrier accidents. He was part of the investigation team into the 1998 Swissair accident at Peggy‟s Cove, Nova Scotia, also the 2008 Air France accident at Toronto. Investigation areas of expertise include human/medical factors, operational and maintenance practices, ground handling practices, air traffic control, passenger safety, and regulatory and manufacturing issues. He have also acted as an Accredited Representative of the Canadian Government under ICAO annex 13, responsible for monitoring Canadian interests, assisting or directing foreign investigative agencies in accident investigations involving Canadian manufactured or operated aircraft in Europe, Africa, and the United States. The most recent example was the 2009 Colgan Air Dash 8 400 accident at Buffalo New York. Henry Oberholster AAE - A Civil Engineer from the University of Johannesburg, now General Manager, Energy and Utilities Greater Toronto Airports Authority with extensive experience in water distribution networks, sanitary and storm sewers, roads, railway infrastructure and inter-modal facilities. He earned his Accredited with the International Association of Airport Executives in 2009 by writing a paper on Sewer Collection And Potable Water Distribution Systems. Steve Bell Started working for the GTAA in 1996 as a certified plumber in maintenance and during the “great construction‟ became plumbing inspector then moved to the Energy and Utilities as plumbing project coordinator in 2004. Steve has been instrumental in developing the GTAA‟s potable water and sewer maintenance systems.


2009 SPEAKERS AT YOUR CONFERENCE David M. Aitken FRAIC – Principal, Aitken Leadership Group Vancouver BC - Aitken Leadership Group is a family-based consultancy dedicated to building performance cultures. David has developed culture building and leadership programs for the aviation, engineering and restaurant sectors. Aitken Leadership‟s recent assignments include delivering a comprehensive management level leadership program for the Toronto Pearson Airport and the facilitation of a major peer review session for the Midfield Terminal Complex in Abu Dhabi. David has been a featured speaker at several AIA, PSMA and ACEC national conventions. Last year, he and his son and partner Geordie were keynote presenters at the Airport Consultants‟ Council national conference at which they discussed the skills required of successful leaders in navigating the „cauldron of change.‟ David‟s style is highly interactive; he has been called streetwise and inspiring. He is a faculty member of the Senior Executive Institute of ACEC in Washington, D.C. and has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Ron Carter - Transport Canada - Ron has 40 years of experience in aviation. Beginning as a military helicopter pilot in the 1970‟s, he flew a number of rotary and fixed wing aircraft during a 21-year career in the air force, including a tour as a Team Coordinator for Canada‟s Snowbirds. In 2004, Ron was appointed to the new position of Chief of Standards, Aerodromes and Air Navigation. In his current capacity, he manages a staff responsible for the development and maintenance of regulations and standards governing aerodromes, airport zoning, land use in the vicinity of aerodromes, aircraft noise management, wildlife management, AIS, airspace, the marking and lighting of hazards to navigation, general operating and flight rules and air navigation services. Guy Henéault is the Program Manager of the Aerodrome Standards Division within the Aerodromes and Air Navigation Branch of Transport Canada. Guy has over 33 years of experience in aviation, which include 30 years as civil commercial pilot, and more than 21 years with Transport Canada as a Civil Aviation Inspector. He graduated form the “Centre de formation aéronautique du Québec” with a specialization diploma in Aeronautics. He holds a helicopter and fixed wing licenses with about 7000 hours of commercial flying experience. Currently he manages the development of legislation, regulations, standards, criteria, policies, procedures and guidance materials related to Aerodromes. Ed McDonald is the President of JetPro Consultants Inc, an aviation instrument procedure design company based in Alberta. Ed is an Engineering Pilot with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, his Profession Engineering Designation and an MBA. He is a former Air Force pilot and is currently a commercial airline pilot with over 16,000 flying hours of flying experience. Chuck Montgomery is Director AIS and Flight Inspection. Chuck spent 22 years from 1981 through 2003 in the airline industry including Assistant Director of Flight Operations and Fleet Chief Pilot responsibilities. Airline management oversight duties included flight crew standards and training program development, flight operations dispatch and technical standards, regulatory lobby and aircraft equipment requirements and modifications. For the past 7 years Chuck has worked for NAV CANADA, Operations. He is responsible for two programs. The first program is the measurement of ground based navigation aid signals, airborne testing support for new Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems, and Instrument procedure flight checks. The second program is the collection, validation, and dissemination of aeronautical information including the design of instrument procedures. Huub Peters is the Manager Service Development and Business Support at Vanderlande Industries Corporate offices in the Netherlands. Having been with Vanderlande Industries for over six years, he is responsible for the strategic development of service products / concepts and the implementation of these products in the world-wide service network of Vanderlande Industries. He has been with Vanderlande Industries for over six years. His exposure to the most efficient practices of Services at airports around the world makes him an excellent speaker to present “Global Trends for Service and Operations of Baggage Handling Systems”.
