Modern Security Storage for Bike Users

A group research project based on bike lock usage in Loughborough highlighted an issue of security for many users. Förvara is a current, on-going project aiming to tackle the issue of security by offering a compact, modern storage solution to be implemented around Loughborough University's campus.

of the Loughborough students questioned said durability of a bike lock is important but are not prepared to pay more than £30.

University Recommends... D-locks. Which is what the most commonly used bike lock was from the students questioned.

‘We are going to research which types of bike locks students use and their reasoning behind their choices. Our research has led us to believe that security, price and portability will be the main pain points for the user. Interviews, re-enactments and observations will allow us to explore these areas in more depth, forming suggestions for design improvements.’ solution

2 FĂśrvara is a compact modern bike storage design for campus universities, offering two layers of security for bike users.

1 Using a D-lock leaves you exposed to bicycle theft.

3 Quick sign up on University's app provides passcode generator for the specific numbered bike comparment.

4 After the user has imputted their passcode, metal door automatically opens. 5 Manually push the bike in, and attach bike to bike rack inside the compartment using your own bike lock. Door automattically closes after.

Photoluminescent Fashion Garment With an intrigue of the applications of technology, an exploration of how technology is being used in the world of art and design to create innovative art was undertaken. Research into current artists, like Noa Raviv, Iris Van Herpen and Hussien Chalayan, higlighted numerous new innovative fabrics and fibres, which led to the photoluminescent garment being developed.

Hello, I’m an Industrial Design Student. I have an inquisitive and adaptive approach to design. Having explored numerous paths within the creative field I’ve collated many skills, critical thinking being the primary one.

work experience: December 2019 Customer Assistant at Boots During one of the busiest times of year, I aided the team with supporting customers in product selection and handling customer queries. While also efficiently carrying out tasks set by the manager, including delivery and working on tills. Summer of 2018 and 2019 - Office Organiser at Pep&Co Responsibilities included upkeep and maintenance of the office. Used the initiative to seek out further tasks, such as the organisation and preparation of office events, after completion of the main duties. 1 Week placement 2015 - Sales Assitant at M&Co Within this placement I focused on the needs of the customer and had the opportunity to explore my creativity within visual merchandising.
