NATALIA STONE

Page 34

As the sun rises over Lake Asale, photographer Natalia Stone catches a glimpse of Ethiopian salt traders luring camels through the desert as they approach the end of a threeday journey into the next town to harvest their bounty. Enraptured by the beauty in every corner of the Earth, Stone left a life of comfort and financial stability to return to her wayfaring roots and share her stories with the world.

TIM FLACH Page 18 Celebrated animal photographer Tim Flach gets closer than most to some of the world’s most adored (and feared) creatures, capturing moments that invite viewers to examine how we inhabit this planet with the species around us. Quietly evoking the myth of the American West epitomized by Monument Valley’s famed buttes, the scene is complete with mustang horses as an illustrious symbol of freedom and the American way of life.

MATTER Page 28

Believing that stories can change the world, Singapore native Renyung Ho co-founded fair-trade lifestyle brand Matter, producing pants meant to see the world in. Printed using ancient woodblocks that were once used to tell tales on both paper and textiles, each pair of pants comes with a story of its origin and intent that connects us to each other and to those who came centuries before us.
