Upcoming UK music group TMG music, also individually known as Curtis J, Zilla and O’deal, have realised a new song called TMG Anthem. The group were founded by TMG Productions in 2015. The young group are all under the age of 18 yet they are changing up the Afrobeats game within the young generation of Afrobeats artists in the UK. All three members of the group are in full time education, who amazingly find the time to write and produce music in the studio. It’s inspiring to know that there’s smart young artists who value their education as much as they value their love for music.

How was life growing up? CJ: “Growing up was tough. We had no father so our mum automatically became both, mother and father. I was the youngest and eventually the only one living in the house with my mum. My mum is the only reason I started music and I started taking it seriously so I could make her proud, she’s been supporting me the whole way and encourages, pushes me every time I want to give up”. Z: “I am the second to youngest of 4 boys. As normal, my older brothers always told me what to do and we were always play fighting which was fun. We are all close and look after each other and our parents. Luckily for me, I left my non grammar secondary school to go to a really good grammar school.

So I guess all the pressure paid off ”. O’d: I just turned 16 so my family look at me like I’m a little baby, which can be really irritating. Like ZILLA, I have that pressure on my shoulders to do well and better than my older siblings in everything I do. It has always been that way but, I can’t lie and say I don’t enjoy being the

CJ: As a group Burna boy has inspired us since the first time we heard one of his songs, ‘Tonight’. Just like us was born and grew up in London and started to produce a mixture of Afrobeats and a dancehall, which just showed us that you can be as free with music as you want to be. We have taken this and it has stayed with us and because of that we have decided to be unique artists as much as we can when it comes to our music. Do you wish to continue being in the music industry, carrying on producing music as a career? OD: My parents have always taught me that education is a main factor in life and I agree with this, with whatever spear time I have that I don’t have to finish school work I will go to the studio and work on my music with the group but I can’t tell you where I want to be in 5 years with my music career.

“It’s funny because I’m the youngest at home and the youngest here too”. youngest at times. Recently I just started taking music seriously and my family are all behind me one hundred percent but they always remind me that education is key”. Name someone you have been inspired by and explain why
