“LET TMG TAKE YOU TO THE MOTHER LAND” U
pcoming UK music group TMG music, also individually known as Curtis J, and Zilla have realised a new song called TMG Anthem. The group were founded by TMG Productions in 2015. The young group are both under the age of 18 yet they are changing up the Afrobeats game within the young generation of Afrobeats artists in the UK. Both members of the group are in full time education, and amazingly they find the time to write and produce music in the studio. It’s
Individually, where were you all born? CJ: “I was born in London but my
Z: “I am the second to youngest of 4 boys. As normal, my older brothers always told me what to do and we were always play fighting which was fun. We are all close and look after each other and our parents. I can’t lie, my older brothers inspire me because they did so well in school but that meant that when
family never really settled down in one location for too long, until I got to secondary school. My family settled in South East London and that’s where we have been ever since”. Z: “I was born in London and I have lived in London all my life. Right now I live in Woolwich where I lived for most of ARE my life”.
How was life growing up? CJ: “Growing up was tough.
COMING FOR THE
AFROBEATS INDUSTRY”
We had no father so our mum automatically became both, mother and father. I was the youngest and eventually the only one living in the house with my mum. My mum is the only reason I started music and I started taking it seriously so I could make her proud, she’s been supporting me the whole way and encourages, pushes me every time I want to give up”.

GCSE’s came I was under pressure to do better than they did. Luckily for me, I left my non grammar secondary school to go to a really good grammar school. So I guess all the pressure paid off ”.
Name someone you have been
inspired by and explain why CJ: As a group Burna boy has in-
spired us since the first time we heard one of his songs, ‘Tonight’. Just like us was born and grew up in London and started to produce a mixture of Afrobeats and a dancehall, which just showed us that you can be as free with music as you want to be. We have taken this and it has stayed with us and because of that we have decided to be unique artists as much as we can when it comes to our music.
Do you wish to continue being in the music industry, carrying on producing music as a career? Z: My parents have always taught
me that education is a main factor in life and I agree with this, with whatever spear time I have that I don’t have to finish school work I will go to the studio and work on my music with the group but I can’t tell you where I want to be in 5 years with my music career.
