Allan Gray Orbis Foundation The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation aims to promote prosperity in an integrated Southern Africa by harnessing the transforming energy of high impact leadership and entrepreneurial orientation. Dr. Allan W.B. Gray epitomises the power of entrepreneurial leadership, which is evident in the business that he has started and grown over 30 years ago; Allan Gray Limited is today one of South Africa’s leading financial services companies. Established in 2005, the Foundation seeks to identify, educate and equip Southern African’s who have the potential to excel and make a future impact. It is expected that up to 100 of these individuals, known as Allan Gray Fellows, will be drawn into the programme each year in a nationwide search and selection process from a pool of over 55 000 potential applicants. The Foundation seeks to find and invest over a long term, in unique individuals who have a strong belief in their own inherent abilities and the future of Southern Africa. It is our intention and expectation that their individual vision to become change agents will make a significant impact on the future of this region and this continent.


The Fellowship Opportunity

It is the Foundation’s hope that the Allan Gray Fellows will embody the Foundation’s Five Pillars to the core of their beings. These individuals will display the following characteristics: Intellectual Imagination: Demonstrated by an established record of intellectual achievement; an ability to see the unseen, challenge the status quo and suggest that thins could be done differently.

Every year, the Foundation selects the best and most ambitious Grade 12 and 1st Year University students to join the Fellowship Programme and a community of vibrant Fellows. The opportunity includes comprehensive financial support for tertiary education alongside exposure to thought leaders, mentorship, personal and leadership development. Access to post-graduate funding is available for those who have excelled in their studies and the Fellowship Programme. Application forms are available on the Foundation’s website.

How to Apply 1. Complete an application form available at www.allangrayorbis.org or SMS “Gr12/1st Year + Fax no/Postal Address� to 36777 to have an application form faxed or posted to you. 2. Submit a hard copy application form to 46 Hof Street, Oranjezicht, Cape Town, 8001 or post to Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, Freepost no: CB 11349, Kloof Street, Cape Town, 8001. 3. Write the National Benchmarking Test by 22 July 2012 (Grade 12 only). Register at www.nbt.ac.za 4. Successful applicants will be interviewed between August and October. 5. Successful interviewed candidates will attend a 3-day camp between October and November. 6. Fellows are chosen after the camp(s).
