Spiritual Space
Jiaba Elementary School
Spiritual Space
Located in Zhu Xi, Tainan, where a stream runs through the site, dividing it into two parts. The area near the site is home to many funeral businesses and adjacent to a cemetery, reflecting the cycle of life and death. I plan to establish a repository center for relics here, where belongings of the deceased will be stored and preserved. Beyond safeguarding these legacies, the center will provide a place for visitors to commemorate their loved ones and seek inner peace.

I. Quietly nestled into the ground, like a cut in the earth's surface, inconspicuous.
II. A gentle slope leading into underground space, a slow settling process of the soul.
III. A triangular skylight bringing in more sunlight, creating interesting sightlines with the ground surface.

PLAN & SECTION
Using a circular form as the central element, the design features a central water pool that reflects the sky. This pool connects with the surrounding environment and the underground spaces, creating a dynamic interplay with water. The pool's surface can be tranquil or disturbed by rain, and it can shimmer with sunlight, mirroring the changing states of one's emotions.

Main Space Design
The upper space is reserved for those who have accepted the departure of the deceased. Sunlight streams in from the roof, allowing visibility between inside and outside, symbolizing the beginning of a new phase of life.
The lower space is for those who have not yet accepted the departure. It offers solitude and silence, with reflective black marble creating an environment that resembles another world for the departed, as if they are still present here.

Jiaba Elementary School
Mountains to Sea Greenway,TW is a mountain trail that connects the ocean with high mountains, stretching from Taijiang Inland Sea all the way to the peak of Yushan.
This route links various scenic spots, each situated in diverse environments—some alongside wide roads, others on secluded mountain paths. Each spot boasts unique scenic features, enriching the entire Shanhai Canal with diversity.

Mountains to Sea Greenway,TW connects various attractions, with each coordinate representing a unique scenic spot. On a larger scale, from Jiaba Elementary School, heading west leads into the city while heading east leads into the mountains and forests. Zooming into the community scale, however, to the west of Jiaba Elementary School lies green farmland, with residential areas located to the east. This contrast in scale indirectly influences subsequent urban planning and development.

Pushing the massing towards the green environment on the west side of the site, while leaving the school campus green spaces for the community on the east side.
The blue line depicts the pathway taken by the public after school hours, passing through the western open space to enter the campus. The green line shows the regular routes used by students for their daily commute to and from school to enter the campus.

Design concept
Taking inspiration from the characteristics of Mountains to Sea Greenway, the design alters corridor widths to create varied spatial scales, enriching the spatial experience. The building volumes gradually increase, resembling the shape of mountains, enhancing the architectural aesthetics.

The bicycle rental station is located at the intersection, serving as a central gathering point.
The multipurpose classrooms include a library, sports field, and laboratories. The general teaching classrooms are designed with large windows, and through the rotation of the building volumes, each classroom faces a different landscape, enhancing spatial
PLAN & SECTION
In the daytime, the open space on the west side of the site is designated as a public area. After school hours, the school gates are opened, and the campus is connected to the surrounding area through bicycle lanes. The entire school functions as a park within the community.
