A New Chapter Begins for Ney The UK’s leading independent distributor of woodworking machinery and materials, Ney Ltd, has moved. Since a devastating fire last summer that left Coventry-based Ney Ltd without a well-appointed UK office or warehouse, its team, made up of technical salesman, specialist engineers and account managers, has been busily facilitating a move to new premises. The new 45,000 square feet space, that includes a contemporary office area, showroom and overflow warehouse, is situated next door to its existing warehouse and machinery demonstration area on Stonebridge Trading Estate, Coventry. Building work is already well underway on Ney’s new components showroom, designed exclusively for in-house exhibitions and customer events. Both warehouses are undergoing serious restructuring, with machinery being moved
to a new demonstration area and thousands of stock items being rearranged to include new products lines. With several new product ranges in full swing, including Ney’s new range of kitchen, bedroom and bathroom doors, the move could not have come at a better time for Managing Director, Gerd Ney. “We can now put this much needed extra space to good use and continue to develop our ranges even further. Our new showroom and Ney’s new 45,000 square feet of offices, showroom and warehouse on Stonebridge Trading Estate, Coventry demonstration area is a great sales tool. Euro Initiative for Daltons Wadkin Kuper engineer joins team at Nottingham headquarters As part of the co-operation between Daltons Wadkin and German woodworking machine manufacturer and distributor Kuper, Julian Gillich 22, a trainee precision engineer from Reitberg, Germany, arrived at the Daltons Wadkin workshops on 7 January with a view to widening his experience and gaining valuable knowledge in their engineering facility with special focus on rebuilding. Julian worked alongside the Daltons Wadkin fitters for three weeks, concentrating particularly on Planing and Moulding Machines, contributing to fitting, fault finding, modifications, etc. He returned to Germany on 25 January to resume his employment with Heinrich Kuper GMBH and Company. Julian enjoyed his time with Daltons Wadkin and the variety of work available to him. Francis Dalton commented “We were
delighted to have Julian with us even for such a short period and he would be welcome back any time. He worked closely with our Works Manager during his time here and the opportunity was taken to share some of his free time when he was taken out to sample some local beers and hospitality.” He went on to say that it was a nice way to mark a two-way initiative between the companies whereby Daltons Wadkin fitters visit Kuper to see the high standards being employed in the build process of their Planer/ Moulder range and a German trainee comes to the UK to experience the engineering capacity of Daltons Wadkin.

CNC MACHINING CENTRES HOMAG & WEEKE – CNC Technology for the 21st Century CNC technology has had a massive impact on the woodworking industry in recent years, improving efficiency, flexibility and quality. Since its introduction into the market, the HOMAG Group has been at the forefront of this technological revolution with its WEEKE and HOMAG brands. Simon Brooks, sales and marketing director of HOMAG UK explains, “CNC technology is turning the industry upside down as manufacturers begin to truly understand the massive benefits this technology can bring to their businesses. “The HOMAG Group has always been a pioneer of this technology, with both WEEKE and HOMAG leading the field. Through these two companies, the Group can provide the right CNC solution for any woodworking business from the small joiner to the industrial volume manufacturer.” Highly Flexible Drilling Solutions WEEKE’s BHX 050 and 055 models are extremely compact CNC controlled, throughfeed machining centres with an equally trim price tag. Available from stock in the UK, they are the perfect drilling solution for the smaller panel processing company as well as one-off production specialists and larger businesses looking for a flexible ‘jobbing’ machine.
Although the BHX 050/055 models are classed as entry level models, they come with an impressive specification including vertical and horizontal drills, a router spindle and a grooving saw, indeed everything you’d expect from a high end WEEKE machine and with no compromises on build quality or safety. Simon again, “Last year we installed the 1000th machine to Interfocus in Cambridge and worldwide sales are now in excess of 1600, highlighting the popularity of this little gem. Flexible finance options are available to make these machines even more affordable” Big Brother The WEEKE BHX 500 with twin machine heads for drilling two panels at once or single panels on both sides is the
BHX 050’s big brother. The BHX 500 is ideal for automated infeed and outfeed, making it the perfect machine to increase production volume. Alternatively, the BHX 500 can be supplied in throughfeed mode for integration into carcass assembly lines. WEEKE can also supply turnkey systems with robot handling for infeed and outfeed, eliminating the need for operators. Nesting – The Key to Fast, Efficient Production CNC technology has been the driving force behind the nesting concept, a
methodology that maximises the usage of panels, reducing costs and improving efficiency. Between them, HOMAG and WEEKE offer models to suit all raw panel sizes from 2440mm to 7400mm in length and from 1220mm up to 2150mm in width. WEEKE’s Vantage range of nesting machines includes the cost effective Vantage 100 and 200 series. These are available in three and four axis formats and offer the extremely versatile Flex 5 function for more detailed work. A wide selection of router heads, toolchangers and drill block configurations enable individual customers to specify their ideal machines. The Vantage range can be supplied as stand-alone models or throughfeed systems with automatic material handling and part identification. They can even be integrated into the HOMAG Group’s increasingly
popular board storage systems from BARGSTEDT. This enables material to be called from stock on demand and fed directly onto the machine table without any operator intervention – perfect for ‘make to order’ production. HOMAG’s 600 series twin tabled routers boast high productivity combined with extreme flexibility. The 600 range has a choice of table sizes and a wide selection of head configurations (up to four router and drill units) to suit most requirements. HOMAG’s intelligent process control and independent X-axis control allows both tables to be used at the same time (processing different programs) offering massive efficiency gains compared to conventional twin tabled routers. The optional automatic electronic tracing rings are an exceptional feature on the 600 series. A godsend for door producers working with MDF, they position automatically in accordance with the various tools from the toolchanger and trace the panel surface to compensate for

CNC MACHINING CENTRES Taking Product Design to a New Level WoodCAD|CAM 9.0 is a new addition to the Group’s software portfolio that takes product design to a completely new level. This powerful software package can design traditional cabinets and freeform products, such as reception desks and furniture parts, from scratch. All products can be designed parametrically to enable one template to be used to produce various sized products, with just a click of the mouse. WoodCAD|CAM 9.0 automatically incorporates industry hardware and fittings, eliminating time consuming programming. Once the products are designed, they can be viewed in 3D and fully rendered if required (the system can also be used as a sales tool). On acceptance, the machining programs are sent directly to woodWOP without any further intervention. WEEKE BHX 055 - The extremely popular compact throughfeed CNC machining centre
controlled edgebanding system. The fast, easy to operate and very affordable Venture 320 is a particularly versatile machine. As if this wasn’t enough, HOMAG has now perfected its laserTec technology for the entire BAZ range to complement its already hugely successful throughfeed laser edgebanding range. Joinery CNCs A selection of heavy duty CNC routers designed specifically for the joinery market are available from the HOMAG Group in three, four and five axis formats for door, window and stair processing. The newly created Venture 312 was developed to meet the demands of today’s joinery market – speed, flexibility, accuracy and a high quality finish – the 312 ticks all of these boxes and offers much more besides. It features easy positioning of the vacuum pods and consoles (program controlled), a range of solidly built clamping systems to securely hold even the most difficult of timber sections, a generous toolchanger capacity with the ability to hold large diameter cutter blocks and much more. On the five axis front, the Venture 316 has been selling well in the UK and global markets since its launch in 2011. It brings affordable five axis technology to the joinery market without comprise on quality. Driven by HOMAG’s in house woodWOP

software, the machine is very easy to operate and extremely versatile. HOMAG offers a full range of five axis machinery to cover the full spectrum of requirements. Software A machine is only as good as the control system that drives it. That’s why HOMAG has always produced its software in-house. WoodWOP is the Group’s programming system for every CNC machine supplied by HOMAG and WEEKE. This approach benefits from the obvious advantages of cross transferrable programs from machine to machine. The woodWOP software is extremely user friendly - no specialist PC capabilities are required to operate a HOMAG Group CNC machine and full training is provided by HOMAG UK prior to installation to ensure a smooth transition from traditional machining to modern age CNC processing. The software enables seamless transfer of programs from office to machine. For total piece of mind, there are in built safety and collision checks to reduce set up and testing times to almost nothing and to prevent damage to the machine. With graphic visuals of all components to be machined and automatic generation of the vacuum clamping positions, it’s no wonder that customers using HOMAG and WEEKE CNC machines enjoy such high productivity and machine utilisation.
Go with the Market Leaders Simon Brooks sums up, “No matter what size or type of woodworking business you operate, the HOMAG Group can provide CNC technology that will not only help your business grow, but also reduce costs and improve efficiency. “The technological advances your business will gain when you buy a WEEKE or HOMAG CNC machine will ensure your decision makes for a sound investment now and into the future. CNC MACHINING CENTRES
SCM's Accord 40 for all Panel and Solid Wood Machining SCM's CNC Machining Centre, model Accord 40FX, is perfect for the production of windows, doors, stairs, solid wood components and for all those processes that require a high level of machining while maintaining high standards in terms of precision and finishing quality. Maximum precision is guaranteed even at high machining speeds over the whole machining area, due to the rigidity of the structure with the mobile gantry achieved by twin motors. Easy profiling on large section components with the 5-axis machining head, designed specifically for the most demanding requirements. Faster work cycles by using “double profile” tools, that is two cutters fitted on the same support, in order to reduce the number of
tool changes. 'Matic' provides minimum set-up times for the worktable with motorised bars and each holding-down clamp or suction cup is fitted with their own independent motors, which allows for simultaneous movement with lasting safety and reliability, with fast coupling by the press of a button and without any external tools. Ideal for machining pre-finished and finished door and window frames. The 'Pilot' control system enables positioning of clamps or cups by the operator and is guided and controlled by the work piece program. Magnetic sensors detect the correct position of all components eliminating any risk of collisions. The display on the mobile console shows the position for each
element and provides a real time view of all movements until the correct position is reached. Capacity in the 'X'-axis is from 3680 to 6360mm and in the 'Y' axis from 1680 to 1905mm with a generous 350mm component passage. With the multifunction table, the machining area in 'Y' can be up to 2120mm. The machining heads can have independent 'Z' axes so tool changing can take place on one head as the other head is machining on the worktable. Greater productivity by performing all the accessory machining on the door and window frames with the “BRC” patented multi-function unit (Boring-Routing-Cutting). A wide variety of powerful and reliable machining heads are available with up to 5

Typical of the customers which have seen production time cut dramatically and profit margins commensurately increased following installation of an AXYZ 4000 router have been Dorset-based Minster Joinery, Northern Ireland-based Joinery Services and West Midlands-based CNC Routing. Founder and Managing Director of Minster Joinery, Martin Stones commented: ‘The AXYZ 4004 model is used with enormous success for multiple tasks, including curved or shaped veneer work. Having established just how far we can push the machine’s capabilities we have significantly decreased are production time and increased our profitability.’ Michael Scott added: ‘The AXYZ 4010 model installed runs like a dream and the technical support provided by the AXYZ team has been a revelation. Without the router, the kind of work we undertake would have proved very time consuming and would have eroded our profit margins. The huge volume of repeat work that we now receive testifies to the quality of output
and the increased production made possible by the AXYZ router installed. Following the success of the AXYZ 4010 router installed at CNC Routing, the company made further investment in two larger-format AXYZ routers. Co-director Greg McPhail commented: “The fact that we now have three AXYZ routers installed reflects the confidence we have in both the machines and the knowledge base of the AXYZ International technical support team.”

flexible software. These features have noticeably motivated the operator who enjoys working the machine”. Several other factors impressed the Directors too. “Its high speed from design to manufacture software, resulting in faster and leaner lead times. Also, most importantly, the proven prompt service and technical back-up track record over many years by Holz-Her - further enhanced by the highly reputed Weinig customer care Urban Front has experienced over the years from Weinig UK, in Abingdon”, they added. Holz-Her’s Pro-Master 7017 has set the standards for economic and highly flexible CNC timber machining centres. Its absolute concentration on practical requirements, make the Pro-Master unique. It offers stability allowing extremely high load values and exceptional dynamics. High precision linear guides ensure excellent guidance, accuracy, particularly quiet running, and long service life. Powerful drive and transmission technology is a prerequisite for extreme acceleration values achieved on the Pro-

SOFTWARE
eSolution: Homag’s New Design-toMachine Software Concept
Homag woodCAD|CAM software
The new Homag Group eSolution software concept developed for the furniture and furniture supply industries optimises production processes from initial design concept through to completed product. The woodCAD|CAM software is specifically configured to create efficient order processing and instant integration to production machinery. “Market demands put huge pressures on manufacturers,” explains Simon Brooks, sales and marketing director at Homag UK. He continues, “These days they have to be extremely flexible; they have to be able to change their designs speedily, put these new designs into production quickly and do all this cost efficiently. These drivers were the inspiration behind the new eSolution design-to-machine software concept from
16 Panel & Joinery Production MARCH/APRIL 2013
the Homag Group. “The new woodCAD|CAM software delivers parametric furniture design in 3D and provides a direct link to the machine technology. This means that whether for standalone furniture or complex room plans, the path from the first concepts to production on the machine is as simple as it is impressive. “Immediately following the design process, production drawings and bills of material can be created at the click of a mouse with design data automatically forwarded to the saw, edgebander and CNC machines. This ensures perfect integration of production machines into the overall process,” enthuses Simon. The system encompasses an integrated order and project management capability. This means planning and design data is
calculated directly with material and production costs which can be read out in various forms, such as a manufacturing cost calculation or a quotation template. “This software gives furniture manufacturers a real edge,” claims Simon. “Not only is it the modern way to produce furniture, it is also the only way forward if you want to remain competitive. WoodCAD|CAM is an extremely cost effective product and due to its modular design, customers only need purchase the parts relevant to their business.

EVENTS
Meet New Faces at W14 Whether exhibiting or visiting you’ll not have a better opportunity to maintain established contacts and meet the ever-changing face of the industry The importance of an established national exhibition for the furniture and joinery industries as well as associated sectors cannot be understated. Established for over 30 years the exhibition shows all the healthy signs of encouraging growth especially with the new format of running two shows in parallel – W14 Working with Wood and W14 Working with Design. The 2012 (W12) events revealed some extremely interesting facts and statistics. Mainly that the profile of exhibitors pointed to the growth of smaller, flexible manufacturing companies to become as important as the presence of the high volume manufacturers. These emerging companies are catering to the growing demand for choice, individual product ranges, and design differentiation. The fact that a very high proportion of W12 exhibitors have re-booked for W14 indicates the value and advantages they
derived from being at the shows. A common comment was that exhibiting enabled them to meet an entire sector of new and potential customers with whom they’d no previous contact. They were also extremely pleased that the opportunity allowed them to conduct a surprisingly high level of business at the events. The furniture and joinery industries remain a major manufacturing sector in the UK worth around £20 billion per annum. A growth area is the supply of products to the commercial, hotel and wider leisure sectors and this is where the importance of creative design is a priority. By running two individual but wholly interdependent shows alongside each other proved an undoubted success in 2012. Each fed from the visitors and footfall from the other and initiatives like the Design in Manufacturing Awards (DIMA) as well as the rolling program of seminars were unqualified success stories. As a result both will be expanded and extended at W14. Early news is that some of the heavyweight fittings manufacturers are on
See our website and interactive magazine www.p-j-production.com
the floorplan. Chief among these is Blum, possibly one of the biggest International names in advanced furniture fittings. Feedback from both exhibitors and visitors confirmed that no matter how efficient internal marketing campaigns and sales drives are, they cannot achieve what face-to-face meeting of over 8,000 professionals at the exhibitions deliver. As time rolls on towards the October dates in 2014 the organisers plan to ramp up a program of promotion with media partners as well as individual visitor promotion campaigns. An examination of the floorplan (www.w14exhibition.com) immediately shows the enthusiasm for getting early space and the response from overseas companies wishing to break into the UK market is encouraging. Early booking incentives are available and, of course, prime space is at a premium. Contact the W14 sales team: Jenny or Katrina on 01629 830998.

Lathams Unveil Exciting New Surface Solutions For 2013 James Latham has announced a number of new additions to its already extensive portfolio of innovative surface solutions for 2013, which are set to have a big impact especially among Interior Designers and Architects.
Allure Exclusive to James Latham in the UK, Allure is an exciting and contemporary range which, as well as six different types of truly unique, real stone laminate, includes an extensive palette of high-gloss bold and vibrant acrylic colours as well as a highgloss wood grain. There’s also a stylish mirror laminate as well as a choice of rough-cut and brushed oak, smoked and stained veneers. Plus, there’s a range of eco-friendly reconstituted veneers in patterns such as Rosewood and Ebony, with its unmistakable very dark heartwood and characteristic streaks, giving the veneer a distinctive and striking appearance. Valchromat A totally original product, Valchromat is a coloured MDF in which the colour runs throughout the entire board. This is achieved by adding organic dyes and a specially formulated resin before pressing the panel. With eight vibrant colours in the range, Valchromat is certain to be popular within the UK shop fitting and furniture manufacturing sectors where bold and impactful colours are part of the specification. Plus, it has been approved by the British Standards Association as safe to use in the manufacture of children’s toys. Nevamar Nevamar is a High Pressure Laminate suitable for use in hotels, restaurants and bars, airports, hospitals, retail shops and other commercial environments. It incorporates a unique, patented Armoured Protection (ARP) technology which stands up to more abuse than similar products. The result is an extremely hard-wearing
decorative material that looks newer for longer which also makes it ideal for residential installations. The Armoured Protection surface is engineered using aluminium oxide particles blended with clear resins. Together they form a protective layer that allows objects to slide over the laminate as if they were on ball bearings. Unlike other laminates using overlays that can cloud the designs, ARP’s patented process always allows the subtlety and depth of the decorative paper to show through. This dramatic clarity is never compromised by the surface protection during the serviceable life of the laminate. HIF-Finesse Delivering dimension, depth and texture to an otherwise flat surface, HIF (Holz in Form) Finesse offers interior designers and architects in the shop fitting and commercial sectors an option which they have not had before, allowing them to capitalise on new trends and create a distinctive and elegant appearance. With a mixture of contemporary designs and patterns, inspired by the flowing, dynamic shapes of the natural elements, HIF-Finesse offers eleven embossed MDF panels which are supplied with their own unique textured finish and are held in stock in the UK. HIF-Finesse is also available in curved panels, with a matching range of edging and in profiles and thicknesses from 1050 x 2450 x 18/21mm, 635 x 2450 x 21mm, 1270 x 3135 x 21mm, depending on the pattern. Chris Sutton, director of James Latham

commented: “We have a history and expertise in bringing new and innovative products to the UK market and I’m certain that these latest additions will have a big impact within the A&D sector.” He added, “James Latham now offers one of the UK’s widest ranges of innovative surface solutions, all available from one supplier, and directly from stock at all nine of our nationwide panel distribution sites.”

Further On-Trend Introductions From David Clouting Ltd While some companies treat product launches like a box ticking exercise, the introduction of new designs from David Clouting Ltd is always a special occasion. This is because the company goes to great lengths to ensure that each design is carefully considered so that it is guaranteed to be on trend and timed to match industry needs, allowing customers to tap into new, emerging opportunities ahead of their competitors. It has recently announced yet more new Decofoil vinyl designs, which will be in stock from March this year, and these are the latest results of the David Clouting method of careful consideration and lengthy collaboration between industry partners, including the LG conglomerate, and clients. Among the latest additions to David Clouting’s comprehensive Decofoil stock range is Mussel Gloss YEM93-PG, providing a choice of solid high gloss colours. Mussel is also stocked as an innoface matt paint
finish YEM16-03i, and matches Egger's U100 MFC. The company has found Mussel emerging as a mainstream colour tone from a number of trend colours launched two years ago. The high gloss and matt finishes provide consumers with the perfect choice to produce great furniture panels. Matt solid colour has seen a steady increase in popularity and the company has once again played a major part in this. David Clouting’s Modern Graphite and Modern White introduce a new dimension to solid colours with the use of horizontal texture. The combination of texture and solid colour brings a new level of sophistication to the market, creating another original effect that will work across all sectors of KBB and home furniture. The use of texture has also played a major role in the latest prints from David Clouting, Rijeke Oak and Sand Lyon Ash, with both featuring a new, structured emboss that complements the surface designs. The light, fresh and natural Rijeke Oak
matches the Kronospan Rijeke Oak D5502 HE, while Sand Lyon Ash, an elegant light toned striped design, matches the Egger Sand Lyon Ash H1398 ST 22. The two designs have been incorporated into the David Clouting stock range as items that will make a significant on the UK KBB sector. Another emerging effect that is rapidly growing in popularity is that of solid surface material, and the company’s newly-launched Light Grey Engineered Stone and Black Engineered Stone PVC interpretations are designed to allow KBB manufacturers to make the most of this. The European trend for door frontals made from natural materials could be heading toward the UK, which means the David Clouting Engineered Stone PVC will again allow customers meet this demand while remaining price competitive.

Kronospan UK is first with the Next Generation of Surface Decors Kronospan UK launches the first surface decors made by its new generation of wood panel machine presses that precisely recreate an authentic timber finish. Kronospan is the first, and currently the only, manufacturer able to make the next generation of embossed-in-register melamine faced panel product in the UK. The company invested more than ¤6.7 million (£5.5 million) to bring the cuttingedge machinery and processes to its North Wales factory in Chirk. The investment has culminated in the launch of 10 new decors within Kronospan’s Natural Touch range. Paul Duddle, product development and marketing manager for Kronospan UK, says: "Put simply, Natural Touch looks and feels like real wood. The new
processes are so accurate your fingertips can physically trace the wood grain image that your eyes see on the surface of the manufactured board. “Current trends suggest a desire for natural, dependable, trusted and authentic materials, like exotic hardwoods; but people, more than ever, need value for money. Natural Touch is pre-finished, extremely durable, easy to work with, fits a tight budget and has a consistency of colour and grain that is impossible to replicate with veneer or timber.” The perfect example of where Natural Touch can deliver an on-trend, genuine natural timber finish - but without the higher costs associated with exotic timbers and veneers - is the four new Walnut decors developed and made by
Kronospan UK. The classic Cocoa Walnut (D6094) has all the dramatic tones and rich graining typical of a cherished hardwood finish; Cinnamon Walnut (D6095) is deep in colour but with a subtle ruby glow; the understated Fallow Walnut (D6093) balances beautifully the versatility of its milder colouring with a detailed structure; while Lava Walnut (D6096) has a lighter touch than the rest with soft toning but still has beautifully detailed graining that gives it a timeless depth.

KBB COMPONENTS One Drawer, One Box. A New Level of Convenience from Hettich Hettich’s new InnoTech Drawer in a Box brings together all the elements for a drawer set in a single box, which is easy to store, transport and handle. The InnoTech platform system suits all levels of production, but with distributors and small to medium-sized manufacturers in mind, Hettich has introduced InnoTech Drawer in a Box for its most popular 470mm-depth, silver formats up to 30kg in capacity, with integrated soft-close. The modular system brings together all the elements for a drawer set in a single box, which is easy to store, transport and handle. With a single code for each InnoTech Drawer in a Box option, it is also highly efficient from an administrative point of view: a pot and pan drawer with rails, for example, is identified for ordering with a single code, rather than eight if its constituent parts are ordered separately. Instead of having to stock left and right
hand sides and Quadro runners, rear and front connectors and so on, they all come in one compact box per drawer. Hettich’s InnoTech system is the foundation of quality kitchens throughout the UK. With a choice of materials, drawer side designs and numerous formats, Hettich’s InnoTech has proved to be the drawer system of choice for kitchen designers who prioritize individuality for their customers. “InnoTech is a fantastic sales tool,” says Hettich UK marketing manager Colin Patterson. “Now with the added convenience of InnoTech Drawer in a Box, we have a solution which provides the end user with a superbly functioning and aesthetically-pleasing drawer system. Manufacturers benefit from improved
storage and administration, while distributors can offer retailers and fitters a convenient new option.”

INSTALLATION
Burkle Hits the High Street with Spira Projects Spira Projects of Leicestershire is striving to be the market leader for the supply of bespoke volume joinerybased products for the retail, cosmetic and commercial markets in the UK and Europe. Its impressive client base boasts O2, Estee Lauder, Superdry, Sports Direct and Sky, to name a few. Spira’s managing director, Steve Houchen, has been searching for the latest and newest innovations, not to just progress his expanding business, but offer the latest cutting-edge technology to all of Spira’s clients to take to Europe’s high streets. “Once we had identified the Burkle rotation press with a second 200mm deep
26 Panel & Joinery Production MARCH/APRIL 2013
tray for producing specialised, thicker products, we knew our range and production methods could be expanded,” says Steve. “The Burkle press offers the ability to produce the very highest standards of high gloss finishes, in addition to other detailed and durable frontals and surfaces for high street shop units. Currently, a lot of our products are sprayed or laminated which can be expensive, labour intensive and time consuming. The new Burkle 3D press should eliminate a lot of these processes.” The Burkle press is equipped with an automatic pin system, so no jigs are required. With a deep chamber tray on the opposite side of the press, Spira can now develop seamless thicker panel work, possibly up to 170mm high, and an endless choice of foil finishes for most
products. Unsurprisingly, the benefits the Burkle press offers have been an instant hit with architects and specifiers across the UK and Europe, and is the reason telecommunications giant O2 has become the first of many to place contracts with Spira Projects. “The installation was fast and seamless so we were able to start producing a quality product from the start,” continues Steve. “Training and support is ongoing from Burkle, and we look forward to a bright future with our 3D press.”

Surcare Speeds Sanding for Surface Solutions Like all small to medium-sized solid surface fabricators and installers, Surface Solutions Co. of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, is faced with the time-consuming job of sanding work surfaces and vanity tops to produce the desired high standard of finish. The company is an approved DuPont™ Corian® fabricator and offers bespoke solid surface solutions for all types of projects; ranging from individual vanity units through to high-end designer kitchen commissions, as well as fit-out contracts within the commercial sector. Since it was formed in 2001, its owner, Jeffrey Vickers, has consistently invested in the very best technology to improve the company’s capability and was quick to acquire a Surcare SMF-200 four-disc sander after seeing it demonstrated on the CD (UK) stand at the W12 exhibition. “Investing in the Surcare sander has
certainly boosted the efficiency of our sanding process, particularly on large surfaces such as tops for island units,” says Mr Vickers. “What used to take us around a day and a half can now be completed in just half a day.” Designed for sanding and microfinishing, the SMF-200 provides a consistent surface finish on almost any horizontal surface. It covers a greater surface area and achieves a predictable finish in a fraction of the time, when compared to conventional single-disc sanding power tools – and all done quietly and effortlessly. The proven SMF-200 is easy to use – even inexperienced workers can grasp the concept quickly. Just gently guide the SMF across the surface to be finished; the SMF does the job rather than the operator. It has a unique quick-change sanding disc system, allowing the operator to quickly change all sanding discs at once by
removing the clover-shaped accessory pad and replacing with another one pre-fitted with a different grade of abrasive. The system saves downtime and sandpaper costs. Jeffrey Vickers adds: “We are delighted with the results from our Surcare, it’s much quieter than our other orbital sanders and our fabricators love using it. Based on the time saved to date, we estimate that the Surcare will have paid for itself in less than one year.” CD (UK) Ltd, are national distributors of Corian®, along with a range of specialist tools and machinery for solid surface fabrication.

PROFILE More Young People Needed in the Furniture Industry Commented MP Increasing the number of young people developing skills in furniture manufacturing will prove vital for the future success of the industry, according to Jessica Lee MP. In a recent Westminster debate on manufacturing, the Member of Parliament for Erewash commented. “There is a need to encourage more young people to consider the benefits and rewards going into the furniture and upholstery industries. That links to the Government’s drive for apprenticeships. With national apprenticeship week fast approaching, I think we are all spending time – I certainly am – visiting many businesses that take on apprenticeships in our manufacturing areas and do so much to support young people.” Staff from the National Skills Academy for Materials, Production and Supply (NSAMPS) work with employers to develop and assure the Apprenticeships that are
used across the Furniture industry. These frameworks help young people to develop the economically valuable craft and personal skills that will help them to build a career in furniture in the future. Lisa Williamson, the Operational Skills Manager for Furniture at the NSA said: “There are more and more apprentices entering the industry – in fact, it looks as if the numbers of students will double this year, which is great news. By gaining skills through the Apprenticeship frameworks that we create, young people make themselves more attractive to employers and can even gain skills to start up their businesses.” To help young people get a taste of what it’s like to work in the furniture industry, NSAMPS also runs a programme in collaboration with schools across the UK called MakeIT! Furniture. This scheme leads around 1,000 pupils per year through a furniture design project and, as it is

SAWS First Nimac Beam Saw Installation Daltons Wadkin off the starting blocks! What is hoped to be the first of many successful Nimac Beam Saw sales has been achieved by Daltons Wadkin who installed a new Tema 3800 machine at a Nottinghamshire kitchen manufacturer. Jonathan Banks of Discount Kitchens Ltd approached Daltons Wadkin initially knowing that they were specialist suppliers of both vertical and horizontal Panel Saws and having limited workshop space at the time their interest was largely based around the vertical Elcon machines. Of particular interest was the Elcon Quadra which is a fully programmable Vertical Beam Saw which in a small space would probably have been the ideal machine for their requirements. It so happened however that at about this time Discount Kitchens were successful in obtaining another much larger workshop and this acquisition enabled them to widen their ambitions
and think seriously about a horizontal Beam Saw. Alex Dalton was able to identify their specific requirements and offer one of the new Nimac machines for which Daltons Wadkin are sole UK distributors. In the event the machine chosen incorporated a cutting length of 3780 mm and a pusher stroke of 2100 mm, touch screen panel with manual, semi-automatic and automatic cutting modes, post-forming system etc, and managed to have it delivered at the same time as another Nimac which was shipped over from the manufacturers in Greece for the W12 exhibition. Nimac engineers working together with Daltons Wadkin personnel delivered and installed the machine and Alex Dalton was particularly pleased to be able to achieve a first sale within a few miles of their Nottingham headquarters. Discount Kitchens manufacture and supply high quality kitchen cabinets and
units and proprietor Jonathan Banks was in no doubt that the new Beam Saw would provide a boost to his business. “The Nimac is an amazing machine,” said Mr Banks “and it is already hard to imagine how we would manage without it. Production has been speeded up and the quality of the work we are producing is we believe second to none. Alex assisted us throughout our deliberations and Daltons Wadkin did everything they said they would do”.

SAWS Browns 2000 Ltd Continue to Invest with Schelling Browns 2000 Ltd has once again shown its dedication to improving productivity by investing in a new Schelling fh6. Founded thirty years ago by Peter Brown, this is still a family run company now guided by the second generation. In an expression of supreme confidence in the reliability of Schelling, this is the sixth Schelling beam saw, Browns 2000 have purchased. The courage to invest in new product research, as well as new production premises and technology, is the secret of Browns 2000 success. The company has responded to market challenges with a mixture of successful ideas and high automation, now reinforced by their latest purchase a Schelling fh6 from the W12 Exhibition. Peter says, “what began as a five man team in the early 80’s has grown into a 75 strong workforce today and our investment in state of the art technology from Schelling is part of a conscious policy to invest in what we consider to be the best technology on the market”. Every manufactured door from Browns 2000 is made to measure and to order. The first and vital stage of manufacture is cutting MDF sheets to size where a flawless finish is essential. Peter commented, “we want to eliminate any downstream, remedial operations and for this reason we value the air flotation machine table-bed option on our fh6”. Basically the finely crafted air flotation machine table-bed protects the surface of any material being processed, even high-gloss material. The extra-wide 700mm air cushion table is perfect for manipulating material during and after the cutting process. Brass air nozzles in the table-bed eliminate the possibility of scratches on the board during the transfer movement from the rip cut to the cross cut. Browns 2000 wanted the best possible solution for their fast throughput of larger orders while at the same time retaining the option of small batch production. Assisted

by automatic cutting speed, which is adjustable according to the book height, both these options are easily achieved. With the aid of double strip aligners placed before and after the saw line and a powerful 21 kW motor the fh6 is able to deliver the productivity required by Browns 2000. Of particular interest to Browns 2000 is the camera option that allows the operator to monitor the cutting and feeding area via a mounted swivel camera with the ability to zoom-in and take snapshots. Markus Freuis, MD of Schelling UK Ltd, commented, “using a camera to analyse the flow of material on the production line helps improves both efficiency and productivity”. In addition to standard machine features, Schelling is able to offer a full range of options that can be added to suite individual requirements. Grooving is one such option which Browns 2000 chose to include on their fh6. The grooving option allows Browns 2000 to integrate design features into their door manufacture. The fh6 also gives Browns 2000 the opportunity to increase the cycle optimization. With a saw blade diameter of 460mm it provides a saw blade projection of up to 135mm, giving a significant
See our website and interactive magazine www.p-j-production.com
increase of panel throughput. With an insert speed of 80 m/min; and a saw travel speed of up to 150 m/min, the fh6 delivers high ejection speed of particularly value to Browns when time is short. Another feature, which Browns 2000 knew, would save time and money is third phase cutting. Third phase cuts are parallel to the cuts on the rip-cut level and can be processed in the same cycle. A small strip of waste between the parts allows for the completion of the third phase cut part, without damaging the neighbouring part. This means that during cross cutting, the third phase cut part is produced with its final measurements. This, in turn, results in reduced handling and decreased production time and eliminates any mistakes. See a working Schelling cut-to-size saw at the Ligna Exhibition in Hannover, 6th 10th May 2013 where Schelling are exhibiting.

SAWS Devon Cabinet Maker Benefits from Used Striebig For small business owners keeping a tight rein on cash flow is crucial, so the financial benefits of buying a used rather than a new machine can be rewarding. This was the case with Clayton Cabinets, which has bought a refurbished four-yearold Striebig vertical panel saw from exclusive UK distributor, T.M. Machinery Sales. Housed in former farm buildings in the heart of rural Devon, Clayton Cabinets specialises in designing and making bespoke kitchens and furniture of exceptional quality. It was established by Nick Clayton who trained at the London College of Furniture where he took a diploma in Furniture Design and Construction. He then worked for joinery companies in Devon for 16 years before deciding to get back to cabinet making by setting up his own business in 2001. All of Clayton Cabinets’ kitchens and freestanding furniture is made using locallysourced materials wherever possible, chiefly Oak but also Cedar, Chestnut and Yew. Mr Clayton and his small team of craftsmen work with interior designers, architects and private customers across the UK. A major customer is the National Trust for which the company makes special items of furniture for their castles and stately homes. When an elderly beam saw that had become increasingly inaccurate and took up a great deal of space needed to be replaced, Mr Clayton decided to switch to a vertical panel machine. “I talked to several woodworking machinery suppliers but after reading a completely independent review of a Striebig machine, which was very positive, I decided to speak to their dealer,” he said. T.M. discussed with him the kind of work the saw was needed for before suggesting which model and size of machine would best suit his needs. “As a small business I need to watch the pennies. As I did not want to borrow from the bank I told them I was perfectly happy to go for a good, used machine.
32 Panel & Joinery Production MARCH/APRIL 2013
“They said that because of their long working life used Striebig machines did not come on the market every day, but kept my details. Three months later they called to say they had a four-year-old Compact machine that had just been traded in and was I still interested, which I was.” After being thoroughly overhauled by T.M. engineers the Compact 4164 was delivered and installed. Due to the low doorway in the barn where the saw was to be housed, T.M. made a special frame so that the machine could be brought into the building. Said T.M. Machinery director Matt Pearce: “We only supply second-hand Striebig machines that we are sure will give many more years reliable service. “All machines undergo a comprehensive refurbishment with older machine being completely stripped down so that all bearings and other parts subject to wear can be replaced. Our confidence in our refurbished machinery is backed up by a six-month parts and labour warranty.” The saw is used chiefly to cut carcass materials such as Birch ply, MDF veneered board and block board. It was supplied with an optional scoring blade for sizing veneered and Melamine panels Another useful accessory chosen by Mr Clayton was a 400mm strip cutting gauge. This has proved very useful as a great deal of intricate work is carried out which requires 100mm x 100m pieces. He is effusive in his praise of the saw. “It’s easy to use, cuts dead straight and square every time, even on small components. The scales are easy to read and it’s very versatile. It has also given us a lot of extra space for assembly work to be carried out in. “I didn’t mind buying a used machine because as well as being totally refurbished, T.M. provided a six- month warranty.” Striebig’s Compact 4164 is one of nine models in the series with a cutting range from 3100 x 1644mm up to 5350 x 2200mm. An automatic feed series, the Compact AV, is also available. They are all based on a single, fully welded sawing

frame to give decades of reliable service whilst maintaining cutting precision. The saws can be wall-mounted or freestanding. They can cut practically all wood-based sheet materials as well as timber, plaster board, plastics, composites and aluminium panels. They guarantee impressive dust limit values well below 1mg/m3.

A Cut Above for Integral Surface Designs IntegralL Surface Designs is a new start-up which is all set to become a name to reckon with in the panel processing sector. Specialising in acrylic, vinyl-wrapped and PVC edged doors, as well as related items such as toilet cubicles and shop fitting accessories, a total of £750,000 has been invested in machinery and equipment to create a state-of-the-art production facility. Integral to the design of the factory layout was a panel saw, and company owner, Jeff Green, found what he wanted at W12: a new Genisis P32 panel saw, sourced from J & C O’Meara Ltd. Jeff explained that the new panel saw will play a number of vital roles: “With the vinylwrapped product, we have to cut items before our final pressing and we also have to cut after our final pressing, because of certain limitations on the other machinery. “We will also be making components that will need to have angle cuts that our CNC routing machines cannot achieve. “The panel saw will also be integral for cutting our PVC edge doors. And in addition, the panel saw is a very versatile machine for cutting up waste!” Jeff had three aims in visiting W12: to network with those in the woodworking industry, to liaise with other suppliers that he had already committed to purchasing equipment from and to seek to source the remaining items he needed to complete his factory layout. The third objective was fulfilled when Jeff met Carl O’Meara on the J & C O’Meara stand and probably the first objective as well! Jeff comments: “I have known Carl for nigh on 10 years through a previous company and so, when I saw his stand and his machinery, I stopped and we had a chat.” Jeff made the decision to purchase the P32 Genisis panel saw at the show: “It is a very good machine. I knew of the Genisis machines anyway and it was a very smart looking, capable bit of machinery, that was ideally suited for what we needed.” The Genisis P32 uses the same heavy

duty sliding table of multi chamber construction as the flagship X3 Plus machine. These use large diameter “dumb bell” rollers to ensure an easy gliding motion which run on solid, hardened and chromed steel runners to ensure accuracy and longevity. The heavy duty saw carriage is securely seated in cast iron tilt quadrants with the raise, lower and tilting of the saw blades by ergonomically positioned hand wheels at the front of the machine. The machine comes complete with fine adjustment to the rip fence, quick release to the heavy duty cross cut fence, two heavy duty flip stops, parallel overhead safety guard, LED indication to the angle of the blade and independent angle cutting fence which can be used ±45°. Jeff was delighted with the smoothness of the commissioning process. “He delivered it, installed it and the saw was operational within hours.” At the time of speaking the saw had been in place for a matter of weeks and Jeff was already delighted with the quality of the finish the saw provided, as well as its appearance: “It looks the part and goes in well with the other equipment.”
See our website and interactive magazine www.p-j-production.com
He adds, “How the factory looks can mirror a customer’s perceptions of the quality of the product,” and Jeff’s offering is designed to be top-of-the-range: Carl O’Meara’s comment was, “This is going to be a very high profile company.” Regarding the saw, Jeff says: “It is absolutely perfect: everything it says on the tin it is doing. It is certainly living up to expectations. With some machines, you can pay a reasonable price but you don’t get the quality: this appears to be a well built machine which we will get our money’s worth out of.” When asked if he would recommend the saw and the service provided by J & C O’Meara, the answer to both was: “Absolutely”. Jeff is particularly appreciative of the private investor, the banks and the Regional Growth Fund which, between them, have secured the £750,000 that he has invested in new machinery. PROFILE Another of Stema’s new Multipoint 3000 Systems to go to Ulster The planned appearance by Stema of Italy’s Altair drilling and dowelling technology on the stand of RW Machines at W12, and the media interest that surrounded it, set the stage for fabricators of panels and timber joinery to take a closer look. The Altair was a no-show as things turned out, the machine going direct to the factory of Gresham Office Furnishings in Bolton, but a number of key people were prompted to take a closer look at the Multipoint 3000 machine that appeared on RW’s stand in its place. Interest has indeed been strong enough to enable RW’s man in Ulster, Jon Hoy, to win a second order from his long-standing customer Liam McCarney at Compass Windows and Doors of Dungiven. Compass is a major player in the timber joinery, as well as UPVc and aluminium, replacement windows and doors sector and Liam calculates that Stema’s Multipoint 3000 will make a major contribution on his Derry shop floor. And as well as drilling and doweling, this new multi-tasking technology from Stema, running on CNC controls by European software market leader Albatross, will also take on disruptive jobs like end sawing of stiles and rails and grooving of slots for the likes of weather strip protection. And Multipoint is fast: drilling, gluing and dowel insertion comes at the rate of 1.2 seconds per hole and each glue canister is good for 35,000 dowels. Adhesive is automatically injected into dowel holes under pressure; if the pressure drops because a glue shot didn’t enter the drill hole as programed, the system stops automatically, ensuring that cabinets and joinery applications always remain reliably assembled. Stema’s Multipoint 3000 carries a range of working field setting options between 700mm and 3,300mm and is the world’s first low cost multi-tasking system with a revolving 8 x position tool turret operating

in the horizontal as well as in the vertical mode and drilling and routing rebates, hinge recesses, cut-outs for vents and letter boxes, 3 x point lock fixings, and door furniture placement. In addition to horizontal and vertical drilling, Multipoint also takes on automatic placement of hardware and fittings including for door locks, hinges and plates, window hardware and decorative fittings such as handles and escutcheons. The front fence of Multipoint 3000 is unique with 250mm of flexibility from front to back of the work table for vertical drilling of shelf holes. 400kgs heavier than anything else in its class ensuring high standards of stability when the machine is running. Vibration is eliminated throughout the frame and clamping has been especially developed to elminate the ‘banana effect’ in timber during machining. The glue injection system is self cleaning - another industry first, says David Thompson Rowland at RW Machines. Adhesive delivery is rigorously and reliably self cleaning and the process is triggered automatically - no more need of messy pipes, tubes and drums of water on the shop floor! The multi-tasking versatility of Stema’s new Multipoint 3000 moves the technology up a notch from drilling and doweling and into the low cost end of the CNC work-centre arena.

Handcraft Chooses HOMAG Group to Handle Increased Business Handcraft Manufacturing designs and manufactures bespoke high quality kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and office furniture for sole traders, retailers and dealers in the construction industry. Established in 1997, the company was originally just a supplier of furniture, however, in 2003 its turnover grew and Handcraft found it increasingly more difficult to find a reliable supplier of quality kitchen carcasses. As a result, the decision was made to invest in machinery in order to produce its own carcasses. Initially Handcraft invested in small, low-priced woodworking machinery to meet the demands of customers. After four years, however, with continued turnover growth it became clear that a
more serious investment was necessary. Nick Fry, a director of Handcraft Manufacturing takes up the story, “As our business grew it was time to upgrade our current machinery and invest in new, larger equipment in order to keep up with orders. We had worked with Charles Smith in the past and built a good relationship with him so when he moved to HOMAG UK he kept in touch with us. Charles was so enthusiastic about HOMAG Group machinery that we decided it was definitely worth evaluating. “The first machine we considered was an edgebander. After visiting the Treff at HOMAG’s headquarters in Germany and seeing various machines in action we made the decision to invest in a HOMAG KAL 310 edgebander. The HOMAG team
offered us a competitive price, an ideal timescale to get the machine installed and onsite training so we were up and running in no time at all.” Investing in a portfolio of HOMAG equipment “We were extremely impressed with the quality of the machine and the standard of finished goods we produced using it. Indeed, it was the catalyst for us to invest in HOMAG equipment ever since. Our portfolio of machinery from HOMAG UK now includes a BRANDT KDF 550C edgebander, two HOLZMA HPP 350 saws, a LIGMATECH MPH 450 carcass clamp and, most recently, a WEEKE BHX 055 CNC processing centre. “Charles Smith has project managed

our purchases with HOMAG, always ensuring we have the best machinery for our needs and that we are totally happy with our choices before we invest. He has a real proactive attitude and even arranged a senior management trip from Germany when we were making our most serious investments with the two HOLZMA saws. “Using HOMAG equipment provides a lot of benefits to our company. The finish of our products has improved, we can handle a higher throughput, the machines are very reliable and we have minimal downtime at our factory. Also, as we are environmentally conscious, HOMAG’s ecoLine products are very attractive to us. “The WEEKE BHX 055 processing centre in particular has provided us with a reliable backup machine if one of our
larger CNCs goes down. Interestingly, since it has been installed we’ve found that it exceeds our expectations and so is capable of handling our more specialist orders as well.” The sign of a great company “As is often the case with such technical installations, there’s been the odd hiccup. However HOMAG has always overcome any issues which, of course is the sign of a great company. “HOMAG sometimes shows its prospective customers around our site and they are always amazed at the throughput we achieve in such a small area. At 6,500 sq. ft. it is a very compact factory however, with the HOMAG equipment we have, we are still able to achieve a high throughput

of up to 1,200 cabinets per week. “Since we have had the HOMAG equipment we’ve doubled our turnover through taking on new customers and increasing our business with existing customers. We are very happy with the service and support we get from HOMAG UK. I would definitely recommend them to other companies looking for first class woodworking machinery; we have invested heavily in machines from them already and will almost certainly buy from them again in the future,” concludes Fry.

Standing Up To Business Bills An exhibition company in the Midlands has purchased a wood waste heater from Wood Waste Technology to save money on waste disposal and heating bills. Richard Draper bought the business in March 2012 with his son Wayne, and the pair have enjoyed a successful first year trading as Alpine Design & Display Ltd, manufacturing innovative custom-built exhibition stands from their premises in Shady Lane, Great Barr. The new directors soon realised that disposing of the wood waste left over from manufacturing the exhibition stands was costing over £200 a month in skip charges. The heating for the factory also needed to be reviewed, as the previous owner was paying over £3000 each winter to heat the unit using the existing gas heaters, which were so ineffective that the five employees still needed to wear three layers of clothing to stay warm! Having seen wood waste heaters in companies locally, Richard decided to investigate. He’d heard of Wood Waste Technology, and knew they had a really good reputation. He called Kurt Cockcroft and, after looking at costs and performance, purchased a WT15 heater, which was installed last October by Wood Waste Technology’s experienced engineers. Richard says, “We’re so pleased we’ve
38 Panel & Joinery Production MARCH/APRIL 2013
purchased a wood waste heater – it heats our 6500 square foot unit really well, even with the exceptionally high 10m ceiling space. Everyone remarks on the heater when they come to visit the factory, and think it’s a great idea to help combat rising energy prices.” Richard and Wayne’s only regret is that they didn’t think about buying a heater sooner, as they could have taken advantage of the summer heat dump they had fitted to the unit, and disposed of all their waste in the summer months instead of paying for it to be taken away. MD of Wood Waste Technology, Kurt Cockcroft says, “Any business that produces waste wood should definitely be investigating wood waste burners. We’ve had many exhibition companies contact us, especially as the waste they have to dispose of is very bulky. Exhibition companies are now discovering how cost-effective and productive a wood waste heater can be.” Wood Waste Technology’s years of expertise in wood waste solutions have helped many companies reduce their waste disposal and heating costs. As well as offering site survey, design, manufacture, installation and on-going maintenance for new units, the company also services all types of wood waste heaters and supplies genuine spares up to 60% cheaper than other suppliers.

Investing in the Environment Dustraction Ltd has been the waste extraction supplier of choice at SAM Mouldings in Ulster for well over a decade now and has helped Europe’s leading manufacturer of architectural mouldings in MDF to win some very significant accolades in the battle for the environment. SAM Mouldings say that their wide range of mouldings includes skirtings, architraves and door frames in support of Europe’s building industry and comes in a range of painted finishes as well as foil wraps and real wood veneers. Before installing their latest prize winning extraction system in conjunction with the Carbon Trust, Dustraction had first to upgrade and move an older 80m3 storage silo, the fourth they have installed on the eight acre Antrim site, to enable the flow of MDF waste to be switched between silo stores. A new two-way diverter at the outlet of cyclo filters three and four ensures a reliable feed source for the Combined Heat & Power plant. Production director Mark Kirkpatrick confirms that his extraction technology is currently utilising the 2.5 tons of MDF waste generated per hour to heat the Antrim factory plus all of its paint drying
Moulldings from SAM include primed or painted finishes, as well as veneer wraps.
Dustraction’s multi-cyclo filter and silo installation at the Ulster site of SAM Mouldings handles 2.5 tons of MDF dust per hour and is part of a power generating project that will turn wood waste into profit.

processes which is saving the company, he estimates, around £72,000 per annum. A further £180,000 per annum is also currently saved in waste disposal costs. Dustraction’s longer term role in the enterprise has been continually to upgrade the waste extraction, storage and delivery mechanisms needed to get the now valuable wood waste fuel to the electricity generating turbine via an MDF chippings and dust incinerator. An additional cyclo filter has also now been installed to exhaust waste from a repositioned hogger via an external network of ducting. The layout that Dustraction has installed
is designed to feed a biomass wood chip and dust boiler with a heat exchanger and steam turbine partially funded by an interest-free Energy Efficiency loan from the Carbon Trust. Mark Kirkpatrick adds: “We can all now sleep at night knowing that by avoiding the use of fossil fuels, we are saving about 1,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being pumped into the atmosphere each and every year.”

MADEINBIESSE
Solutions to excellence.
POWERFUL The Stream range of edgebanders combine exceptional glue line quality with outstanding performance, utilising Biesse’s patented glue system and one of the smallest panel gaps available on an edgebander. The glue system is at the heart of an edgebander, so with typical Biesse innovation we created a simple, reliable, easy to maintain system, with the ability to change a glue pot in under a minute. It is easy to understand why Biesse Stream is becoming the choice of discerning manufacturers. Please feel free to give us a call so we can explain how our machines can be configured to use EVA, PU, PO or laser as your choice of adhesion or a combination that’s suits your requirements.
