Wehavefeaturedtwoofourlatestrural-basedgrantees,AlintaKrauthandFayend’Evie, below,alongwithsomeoftheirinsightsintowhatit’sliketopracticeinregionalandrural Australia.Itisourhopethattheopportunitiestheypursueabroadequipthemwith newfoundskillsandknowledgethattheycanbringbacktotheirlocalcommunities,further enrichingthevibrantregionalartssector

Ourlatestgranteeswilltraveltoninedifferentcountries,includingRussia,China,Canada, theNetherlands,theUSAandtheUK,toundertakeavarietyofprofessionaldevelopment opportunitiesandfurthertheirartisticpractices,whichincludecreativeproduction,circus arts,productiondesignanddigitalarts.

Thisround,anumberofregional-basedartistsreceivedCulturalTrustgrants,twoofwhom wehaveprofiledbelow.AlintaKrauthwilltravelfromruralQueenslandtoIrelandto completeadigitalartsresidencyatTheMooreInstitute,whileFayend’Eviewilltravelfrom Muckleford,VictoriatoSanFranciscotoundertakeacreativewritingmentorshipcentred onherinterestinaudiodescriptionasanartisticmedium.

TheIanPotterMovingImageCommissionisabiennialawarddesignedtoenablemoving imageartiststocreateanewworkthatwillsignificantlyfurthertheirpractice.Throughthe commissionpartners,theawardprovidestwolevelsofsupport:$100,000fromTheIan PotterCulturalTrust,aswellashighlyspecialisedcuratorial,productionandpresentation expertiseprovidedbyACMI.

ThecommissionhasenabledSoda_Jerktoconductextensiveandintensivearchival researchintoAustralianscreencultureaswellasmakepossiblealonghelddreamto collaboratewithMelbournefilmmaker,writerandartistPhillipBrophyonthesounddesign forthework.Soda_JerkwerealsoabletoengageJohnKlacsmann,ArchivistatAnthology FilmArchivesinNewYork,inordertoadoptthemostinnovativetranscodingprocedures fortheirsampledmaterial.
