'The Cultural Trust grant allowed me to complete of Fine Arts in FilmDirecting at the American Film Institute (AFI) in Los Angeles. It was a 2 ½ year program from which I graduated top of my class
The program was very hands-on, in that we learned through doing, making films. I made seven short films in the 2 ½ years. Essential to completing my final thesis film was fundraising $65k.'
'I’m presently sitting in Perth International Airport, waiting for the boarding call for the first leg of my project, Madagascar, with a stopover in Mauritius for 6 days.
Yesterday I had an interview on Radio National with Michael Mackenzie (RN Afternoons), talking about my project ‘Small Island, Big Song’, introducing the story of the Austronesian heritage and the musicians I will be meeting to tell that story.'
