Not really a problem for the opentopped vintage cars taking part in the London to Brighton run, heavy fog saw the start of the run, with all participants wrapped up to brave the cold. The Dubai Motor Show was bathed in sun as it opened it’s doors to the luxury brands vying for this lucrative market, see our report on page 13. Richard O’Rourke brings us his Motorsport Month as the season winds down for everyone except the Formula E Electric Championship. El Guiri brings us some warmth with a trip out to San Jose, where he went when it was still hot and summery. Some of the cars made by George Barris are showcased on page 8, since we heard the sad news that he has passed away. Fiat 124 Spider Genesis. Hyundai Motor Co. said Wednesday it has launched a premium car brand named after its Genesis sedan to boost earnings and its share of the fast-growing global market for luxury vehicles. South Korea's largest automaker said that the Genesis brand begins with two sedans, including the namesake upscale car launched two years ago and a large flagship sedan slated for release next month. It will add four more models including a sports coupe and sports utility vehicles by 2020. The company began preparing for the brand in 2004. Hyundai had planned to launch it when it released the first Genesis sedan in 2008 but postponed because the global financial crisis dented sales of luxury cars. Hyundai was the only major automaker without a separate luxury brand.
Fiat 124 Spider. The new Fiat convertible was unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show last month. The rear-wheeldrive, two-seat convertible returns the Fiat 124 Spider name to showrooms almost 50 years after the original model was introduced. The new edition is the product of a joint project between Fiat and Mazda, and it shares the same platform as the latest generation of the Mazda MX-5. The engine will be a 138bhp version of Fiat’s 1.4-litre MultiAir II petrol motor, with a expected 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds, matching that of the 2.0 litre MX-5. No information on pricing, but it is expected to be a little higher than the 1.5 Mazda, at around £19,500. It's due to go on sale next autumn.
First 3D-Printed Production Car. Arizona’s Local Motors has unveiled the final design for its LM3D Swim sports car, which will be LM3D Swim manufactured using 3D printing. The chassis and body of the 4-seat lifestyle vehicle are made from a mix of ABS plastic and carbon fibre that accounts for 75 percent of the entire vehicle’s construction. The powertrain is, as yet, undecided, it will be either an electric or petrol engine. The LM3D Swim is due to go on sale next spring first in the US for $53,000, assuming it passes all safety tests.
An Even Faster Venom GT. Hennessey Performance, the Texas tuning house has unveiled a faster version of its Venom GT, which holds the title of “World’s fastest production car.” The original Venom GT broke 270mph on NASA’s Space Shuttle landing runway at the Kennedy Space Center in February last year with it's 1244hp 7.0 litre V8. The engine in the new car has 1451hp with the company projecting that it will have a top speed of over 280mph. The new engine is now standard on the $1.2 million Venom GT, which is nearing the end Only 10€ of its 29-unit run.

London to Brighton Veteran Car Run 3. HONDA FIT The Fit also known as the Honda Jazz is a subcompact car selling since 2001 with sales of almost 6 million.
More than 400 veteran cars set off in thick fog from Hyde Park to make their way to the coast in the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run last month. Most of the vehicles taking part were manufactured before 1905 and this year's run had an American theme with a celebration of US car marques. Chris Evans, Ken Bruce and Alex Jones travelled on vintage buses raising funds for the BBC's Children in Need. Cars arrived in Brighton throughout the day with the first ones reaching the seaside, where the skies were clear, at around 10:00am.

It took us six months to get the shop ready (Spanish paperwork!) and we opened on March 2nd. Our customers call us a ‘Proper English Car Spares Shop’ and that’s exactly what we are. We have our own van bringing stock over - we thought once a month would be more than enough – wrong - we are doing two runs a month! Ian is a bike man at heart but has a fascinating car history ... Part 3 Another year, another Ford, this time I bought a Mark 1 Cortina Estate that someone had fitted a GT motor to. It looked bog standard except for wide tyres on the rear (not rims, just tyres), but it was really quick. When I put it up for sale a few weeks later, a little guy in a trilby hat came to look at it. I gave him a test drive and he never went above 30mph. I asked him if he was sure it was the right car for him. He said it wasn’t for him, it was for his librarian wife. I had serious doubts that the sale would happen. However, he returned the following day with his wife who wanted a test drive. I spent the next 20 minutes clenching my backside cheeks. She was a maniac. She only knew flat out and stop; nothing in between. When we got back, she turned to her husband and said “pay him”. The look of dismay on the guy’s face almost (but not quite) made me turn down the deal. I swear I could hear her screaming “Yee Ha” as they tore off into the distance.

Just thinking back to cars that I’ve had with no particular adventures associated with them and in no particular date order, I can remember a Ford Mark 4 Zephyr 4 (often known as the coal-barge), a Triumph Herald convertible, an Austin A40, a Ford Corsair 2000E, an Austin Cambridge A55, a Bedford CF van and a Triumph Vitesse. In the late 1970s I was made redundant from my engineering job making maintenance machinery for railway lines. British Rail was privatised and the company I worked for at the time panicked. As a result, I enrolled at Nottingham University and had a complete change of career. After that, my cars were just transport. I had a Ford Fiesta, 2 Ford 2 litre Mondeos, a Mark 3 Ford Granada 2.9, 2 Renault Megane Scenics, a Peugeot 406 Estate and now I’ve got a Kia Rio which I bought new a couple of years ago. It’s great little car with loads of performance and it’s a Tardis. The P.A. equipment for our 4 piece band plus all my instruments fit into it easily. Hence, when my Megane Scenic popped its clogs, I didn’t need to get another “roomy” motor. So I elected to get something to have a bit of fun in. I’ve just bought a 1998 Mercedes SLK 230 AMG which has taken me back to having a fun car again. It’s in pretty good condition, but there are a few things I want to do to it to personalise it a bit. Throughout all that time, my favourite road vehicle was a Moto Guzzi T3 California with a Wessex sidecar attached that I made “state of the art” with CMA 5 spoke alloy wheels especially cast to take Michelin car tyres, modified and reinforced front forks to enhance the steering, a hugely customised suspension system and bodywork on the sidecar – complete with tow bar and home-made lightweight trailer. All with a custom paint job. It was my pride and joy, but it was one wheel short of a car so it might get edited out of this little ramble...

2015 MotoGP The climax of the 2015 championship in Valencia was a bit of an anti-climax really, the only excitement coming near the end of the race when the Hondas were threatening to spoil the Lorenzo party. Rossi had started from the back of the grid and by the time he climbed to fourth place his tyres were shot and so were his chances of catching Lorenzo, Marquez and Pedrosa. Still, fourth would have gathered enough points to clinch the title if the Honda pair passed Lorenzo and pushed him back to third. A strange sight ensued with the thousands of Rossi fans cheering for the Hondas but Jorge hung on and won his seventh race of the season and with it, the World Championship. Indeed, not only did Lorenzo win the race but he did so from pole position and led from lights to flag so there can be no dispute about the nature of his win. The popular support, both at the track and worldwide, was on the side of the Italian but his error of judgement in Malaysia and the tactical error by his pit crew in Misano cost him dearly. Has Rosberg found some undiscovered speed or has Hamilton lost interest having won his third championship? At the time of writing Massa has been excluded from the results for a tyre pressure/ temperature infringement so we may have to wait until Abu Dhabi to resolve that one. Elsewhere it looks like Red Bull and Toro Rosso will be on the grid next year and the latest is that Red Bull will use a Renault engine with Infinity badging and in-house electric gizmos.

Obnoxious Odours â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Relief is at Hand by Jill Carter
If you are lucky that will be enough but in most cases the smell of vomit pervades the car. In which case try the simple measures that follow.
We are fast approaching the festive season which for many car owners is filled with dread, of memories of past experiences. Friends who have drunk too much, children scoffing sweets and chocolates as well as pets can all lead to the unwelcome VOMIT moment. Anyone who has had the misfortune of removing vomit from a car interior knows how difficult it is to remove the lingering stench. Many resort to part exchanging their car as the futility of the clean-up sinks in. However not all is lost and if you follow the tips below you may have your sweet smelling vehicle once more. Test a small hidden area before attempting any of these remedies to identify any possible bleaching effect.
Firstly, place a bowl of white/distilled vinegar inside the car on a level surface and make sure all the windows are closed, leave overnight or for several hours. If this does not solve the problem repeat once more. Secondly, ensure the upholstery is dry then shake a liberal amount of baking powder over the offending area, again leave overnight as above and repeat if necessary. Thirdly, open a bag of charcoal barbecue pieces that have not been treated and continue as before. One or more of the preceding treatments should work but if not you may have to resort to a commercial valeting firm. Prevention is better than cure so anticipate possible disaster and carry a plastic bag, with no holes or a small receptacle to catch the output. One age old prevention of travel sickness is to sit on a pile of newspapers which are anecdotally said to work for animals when used to line their basket.
Try and clean up the vomit immediately using a mild detergent and warm water. Blot carefully with a microfiber cloth or white T-shirt but do not rub upholstery or carpet. You may also try soda water in place of the soapy water especially useful if away from home. Repeat as often as necessary to remove all signs of vomit then leave to dry, if possible leave all the windows open in a secured area to help dry the worked area.

Ride 27: San Jose Living on the coast is great: beaches, sea er..more beaches...? Even better is living on the Med coast: beaches, sea, sunshine..er...more sunshine? Lol!! Thing is though, you also cut your opportunities to explore by a fourth (25% to you youngsters!), unless you have a boat that is! So after more than 12 years it starts to get a little difficult to find new destinations, so if anyone has somewhere they want to go/visit, let me know. When I heard the song "do you know the way to San Jose?..." on the Radio the other week, I had an epif..an epeth..an ipef..I had a brainwave! San Jose sits in the Cabo de Gata Nature Park, nestling on the craggy shore it boasts numerous beautiful sandy beaches and tranquil coves. Although 'off the beaten track', it nevertheless has a

distinct 'holiday' feel about it. Bustling cafes, bars and restaurants mixed with the usual 'tourist tat' shops; give the place an atmosphere much like what I remember from seaside holidays of my youth (only without the gale-force winds and lashing rain! lol!) If you go in August, take some comfy shoes and the smallest car you can find; because the whole place was 'rammed' with vehicles making parking anywhere near the beaches or centre impossible (unless you are an extremely dashing , adventurous type like ourselves and ride a motorbicycle! lol!!). The journey there was scenic but uneventful, more or less anyway! Whilst RobVegas finally got a cake for his birhtday (OK so it was a doughnut, but it DID have a candle on it!), But apart from that, nothing happened! "Do you know the way to San Jose?..." Yes. Yes we do, thank you very much. Make your own plan, design your own route: Motorways? You'll be wanting the AP7 then the A7/E15 Sir! or head to Cartagena and then pick up the N332 for a more relaxed, scenic (but longer!) ride as far as Mojacar; like we did. But then make sure you end up on the A7/E15 heading south towards Almeria, take exit/salida 479 onto the AL-3108 and go all the way to San Jose. Stay safe, El Guiri
