Volvo's best selling model, the XC60 gets a redesign for 2015. They have taken away the black trim and given it a new front bonnet, added new headlamps and horizontal lines on the grille with chrome bars. The driver has a commanding driving position supported by generous ground clearance with a class leading chassis designed to feel every bit as nimble and agile as a standard height road car.
Various engines are available including the improved D5 and D4 versions. Of course it has All Wheel Drive so is suitable for all road types, Corner Traction Control now comes as standard and a torque vectoring system that helps the driver avoid understeer. Volvo lead the way in safety and their vision is that no one is killed or injured in a new Volvo by 2020.

In the all-new Ford GT supercar, the styling clearly comes from the 2005 Le Mans GT40, although this car has been brought up to date with a 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6 producing more than 600 hp. The GT serves as a technology showcase for top EcoBoost performance, aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fibre construction. Production will start in late 2016 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ford GT race cars finishing 1-2-3 at the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hour Race. This car will take part in the 2016 race, hoping to recapture that glorious year. Although it had been seen at SEMA last year, the Dodge Challenger TA concept was hard to miss in lime green paint, what a monster of a muscle car.
The Acura NSX will be the Honda NSX when it reaches Europe later this year. Having been developed over 3 years, this secondgeneration NSX is due out this year, with a price tag of around £100,000. Power is expected to be over 550bhp from the twin-turbocharged V6 with 3 electric motors. Honda is providing the engine for the McLaren F1 team and you can see the influences in this car.

The Maroc Challenge is already in its third year and the 2014 Winter Edition had a total of 130 teams taking part; from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Finland and the UK. The cars participating were all pre-1998, which helps keep the costs low for the Spainish event which crosses Morocco in six exciting stages. Improvements this year included satellite tracking of vehicles by the general public, which enhanced the enjoyment for all the followers of this thrilling rally. Leaving from La Nucia, Alicante the teams headed for Motril and a ferry took them to the African continent. The rally route included Midelt, Erfoud, Zagora, Aït Benhadoou and the spectacular sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. In total around a 2,500 kilometers round trip! An integral part of the Maroc Challenge is the distribution, in collaboration with the Moroccan association Hassilabiad.org, of school material to schools and this year, a thousand pairs of glasses were donated as well. The final stage was completed in the Sidi Kaouki beach of Essaouria, where the emotional process of handing out the trophies took place. In category AT Adventure, original Maroc Challenge and accessible to all participants, the winners were Coyote Rally Team I (4x2), Chendy Team (4x4) and Locurafilms (4x4L). In the category GT Raid, which is reserved for teams with experience in raid, the victors were GMC - Motor Sport I in 4x2 and Bensus Competition in 4x4. See the full results at the website. MOTORS IN THE NEWS Mitsubishi Evolution X Final Concept. The last ever Evolution X was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan last month. The Final Concept version will have a new turbo 2.0 litre engine capable of providing 466bhp. Based on the Evo GSR 5-speed, it has a new turbocharger from HKS, a new intake, a new exhaust, a new cooling system and a new ECU. On top of the engine tune, the Evo X Final Concept will also feature an HKS adjustable sport suspension. Finished in a combination of matt and gloss black paint, it looks mean and menacing. Due out this year, with a limited production run of 2000, the price is rumoured to be around US $70,000.
New SUVs Named: Jaguar F-Pace. Jaguar has confirmed its first SUV, the 'F-Pace' will join its line-up in 2016. The name is a reference to Jaguar founder William Lyons’ famous mantra that Grace, Space and Pace should be key Jaguar attributes. Of course it also alludes to the successful F-Type. Director of design Ian Callum describes the F-Pace as inspired by the F-Type, and from the only photo Jaguar has issued so far it’s seems the production car has retained the concept’s F-Type rear lights. Bentley Bentayga. Bentley’s first luxury SUV will be named the 'Bentayga'. Named after the peak of the Roque Bentayga in the Canary Islands, the view from the top gives spectacular panoramic views. Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors said: “Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments.” The Bentayga will be revealed to the public later this year, with sales due to start in 2016. Engine range will include current V8 and V12 engines with over 600bhp, top speed is expected to be over 200mph and prices are rumoured to start above the £130k mark. Affordable Formula One Cars. This Spring Lego are launching a series of motorsport themed sets, called Speed Champions. They include two from the world of Formula 1: The Ferrari F40 set; which comes complete with a Ferrari F14T, a team truck and a pit-stop team and the MP4-29 McLaren F1 car and team. The other sets include the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 (the LaFerrari) that was only released four years ago, but has won many GT and Le Mans races. Porsche is represented by the 911 GT.

Concentracion clasicos ‘Santa Rosalia’ by Jill Carter A concentracíon clásico is a great way to spend time out with your classic car or motorcycle. Most clubs have club runs throughout the year but a concentracíon differs in that the organising club invites other clubs to attend. The usual requirement is for the car to be a minimum of 30 years of age but this does vary, so best to check first. I managed to sneak my MBK Nitro Jaguar 50 in as a future classic, probably due to the fact it was easier to say yes than listen to me mangling their language! It did attract quite a bit of interest and no protest was made so it's now attended its first concentration. There will be a timetable for the day and your club usually arranges a convenient place to assemble before heading off in convoy to the meet. Times vary and it is not unusual to leave The day is supported by local business and the Council and home in the dark during January. certainly raises the profile of the area. Santa Rosalía is a hamlet of only 144 persons but it has managed to produce a very well organised day for classic cars, motorcycles and trucks, this being the third. It managed to attract over 175 cars and bikes. The Hamlet is almost next to the urbanisation Mar Menor Golf Resort off the F28. Usually each vehicle and its occupants are given vouchers for coffee, food and a can of drink free of charge. Not codon bleu, but filling and tipica to the area. After strolling around looking at the vehicles on show it is prize-giving time with prizes for a number of different groups, for example the club with the most number of vehicles present, the oldest vehicle and several others. Some clubs would also include a tour of the local area with much tooting of horns and a police escort but much depends on the size of the group, road conditions and the local police.
If there is a concentration in your area and you do not have a classic car or do not belong to a club it is well worth a visit out of pure interest for anyone with enthusiasm in the nostalgia of the automobile. You will find contacts for some of the clubs in this magazine but there are others that do not advertise their activities. A good place to start is the car park of the Hotel Torres, Los Montesinos every first Sunday of the month 11.00 - 13.00. Here you often see upwards of eighty vehicles on show and have the opportunity to talk to the owners. It is organised by the Phoenix Car Club and you will find members of the committee at a table in the café area where you can find further information and purchase a drink and or snack if required. Other club members attend, as well as interested members of the public. All are welcome.

This 1981 Ciemmeti Camper Van is the proud possession of Steve and Anita from Shiny Lamps.
The Ciemmeti is originally Italian and had been taken to Spain a couple of times, which is where Steve and Anita first saw it. They fell in love with it and gave their number to the owner to contact them if he was ever going to sell it. They got the call 6 years ago and went to Italy to collect the camper and bring it back to Spain. Steve and Anita have so far travelled to the UK, Scotland, through Greece and to various parts of Spain.

Season News Jules Bianchi We are pleased to hear that Jules Bianchi is breathing unaided after coming out of a coma, but remains unconscious. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Change of Start Time In light of Jules Bianchi’s crash last season, the start time of 5 races will be brought forward an hour. The Marussia driver crashed into a recovery vehicle in wet and dull conditions in Japan. A subsequent report advised races should not start within four hours of dusk or sunset to avoid similar light. The races that are to be changed are Australia, Malaysia, China and Russia, as well as Japan. The night time races in Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain will remain unchanged with floodlights providing enough light. Double Point Scrapped Formula 1 bosses have agreed to ditch the controversial double points rule, which was introduced for the final race of 2014 to keep the championship alive for as long as possible but was criticised as being unfair by drivers, teams and fans. Unlike in recent years, the outcome of the 2014 championship would have rested on the final race even if double points had not been in force. Lewis Hamilton was 17 points ahead of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg going into the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Lewis's win left him 67 in front of Rosberg, who came home 14th after suffering car trouble. This large difference doesn't reflect the closely fought battle between the two drivers which ran throughout the whole season. William’s Reveal New Car Williams have become the first team to reveal pictures of a 2015 Formula 1 car and have set the target of moving further up the grid this season. They were the mostimproved team in F1 last year, taking third in the constructors' championship, up from ninth in 2013. They aim to achieve more than the nine podiums they got in 2014 from their drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa, both of who are returning to the team this season. Williams also continue with the Mercedes turbo hybrid engine, which was miles ahead of the field in 2014.

F1 Driver Profile Keke Rosberg
Keijo Erik "Keke" Rosberg was born in 1948 in Sweden to Finnish parents. His early career in motorsport saw him gain success in Formula Vee, Formula Atlantic and Formula 2. He was 29 when he had his first drive in Formula 1 for the Theodore team in 1978. He immediately made a name for himself by winning the non-Championship BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone in his second race. In wet conditions he beat some of the biggest and most established names from F1. He then had a series of bad seasons with uncompetitive teams, before Williams gave him a seat in 1982. Keke finally had a competitive drive and he took full advantage of it, winning his first grand prix at Dijon. He enjoyed a great season and took the 1982 F1 World Championship, the first Finn to do so. The next 3 seasons were with Williams, before he moved to McLaren for 1986. In 1986 Keke retired from F1 and moved into sportscar racing. He set up his own team in 1995 and continues to compete in the DTM and FIA GT3 Championship. Keke later spent a long time managing future world champion Mika Häkkinen and until 2008, he also managed his son Nico who entered Formula One in 2006 driving for Williams F1. In 2013 he and Nico became the first father and son to both win at Monaco, 30 years apart from each other. One of our readers, Artzi, used to work with Keke (pre-F1) in the computer department of Nokia Kaapelitehdas (Nokia Cable Works) and recalls that he once had parked his car the wrong way on the factory yard. Someone decided to tell Keke that his car was not perfectly parked. Keke told the guy: “You can say anything about my computer work but I know how to drive a car!”
Formula E is the new FIA single-seater championship and the world's first fully-electric racing series. 10th January 2015: Buenos Aires, Argentina Amlin Aguri's Antonio Felix da Costa took the victory ahead of e.dams-Renault’s Nicolas Prost and China Racing’s Nelson Piquet Jr. It was an action-packed race with polesitter Sebastien Buemi and championship leader Lucas di Grassi retired with suspension failures. Venturi’s Nick Heidfeld looked like he was set to win in the closing stages but incurred a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pitlane which dropped him back. Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird was part of the lead group but he picked up a drive-through penalty for ignoring the pit exit lights. The next race is in Miami, USA on 14th March. Watch it live on ITV4.

The Motorsport Month by Richard O'Rourke While the Formula 1 and MotoGP followers must wait until March for their respective seasons to begin, by then, the more hardy rallying fraternity will have completed the first three rounds of their championship on the icy, snowy, slippery roads of Monte Carlo, the pure snow of Sweden and the altitude, dust and gravel of Mexico. Gone are the days when hoards of intrepid privateers would cross the channel from the UK and slide and shovel their way to the principality of Monaco. These days itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s all about the works teams and the championship will be fought out between reigning champions, Volkswagen with their updated Polo R for Sebastian Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala, Citroen's Kris Meeke (N Ireland) and Mads Ostberg (with seven times winner Sebastian Loeb making a one-off appearance in a non-points scoring capacity) in the DS3. Ford bring the M-Sport Fiestas for Welshman Elfyn Evans and Ott Tanak and the improving Hyundai i10s will be driven by Belgian Thietty Neuville and Spain's Dani Sordo. Others to keep an eye on during the year will be former F1 driver Robert Kubica (now known in rally circles as Bobby K) and Andreas Mikkelsen in the VW's second team. Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve got a report from Monte Carlo and the next round takes place in the forests of Sweden on Feb 12-15 with Mexico starting on April 15th.
Monte Carlo 22-25th January 2015 At the end of the opening stages run in darkness on the night of the 22nd, Loeb was a surprise leader from Ogier and Latvala, but both he and team mate Meeke were victims of hidden rocks on the Friday stages and both suffered delays due to broken rear suspension. Kubica also crashed out and at the end of the day normal service was resumed with VW holding the top three palces for Ogier, Latvala and Mikkelsen. That order remained until the end but there was plenty of action behind with positions changing as quickly as the surface conditions. Loeb and Meeke fought back gamely with Meeke gaining a valuable 3 points by winning the final televised 'power stage'. Ostberg took fourth for Citroen ahead of the two Hyundai's, Neuville just pipping Sordo on the final stage by 0.7 sec. Kubica, after a great fight back, crashed on the finish line of the Col de Turini stage to end his challenge and so the top ten was completed by Evans, Loeb, Martin Prokop and Meeke.

Ride 20: Ricote The Rio Segura runs through the Ricote valley, with Ricote itself sitting halfway up the Sierra de Ricote mountains. Evidence of a prehistoric settlement has been found, but the earliest written mention of Ricote is in Muslim records from 896 AD! So..."Let's go to Ricote" Seb had said the previous day. "OK, we will" answered Rob. Unfortunately, a flat battery meant that Sad Seb's day ended before it had even begun! Being the close, supportive, 'brothers of the Road' that we are; we made like Top Gear and left without him! Lol!!! Moral of the story? Ride your bike more often, or buy a 'smart' charger (battery charger that is! Not a Cavalry horse!!?)

Torremendo came and went, as did the CV949 and MU301 into Santomera, where we joined the N340 (direction Murcia) taking a right (first exit) at the roundabout in Barrio de San Antonio. Over the Autovia and past the Embalse de Santomera saw us arrive at Los Perriquitos Hotel/Spa for a much welcome break/rest/warm up! Once the blood was circulating again, we left Fortuna on the RM411 to Archena before heading up the valley on the RM520. Following signs for 'Ricote', we continued through the town on a 'technical' but reasonably surfaced route that forms a very scenic loop up, over and back down to the valley floor. Hanging right at the RM520 we were now heading south 'down' the valley for another rest stop at Ojos village. Ricote is a smallish town with a medieval feel to it with it's narrow streets and moorish architecture etc. The 18th Century church (Baroque in style) houses some 15th Century statues and is home to some jaw dropping paintings and murals. The 'Palacio de Lamas' has an impressive facade and a "Gone With The Wind" style staircase inside. The grandiose 'Casa de Hoya' and 'Palacio de la Encomienda', also add to the overall impression of a place much more 'important' than you'd have been expecting from this small mountainside town. The valley, meanwhile, is a lush, verdant playground for hikers, climbers, cyclists and history lovers. A total of 22 waterwheels alone are scattered along the valley. The biggest being found at Abaran (La Noria Grande). The villages provide a plethora (thank you Mr Thesaurus! sic) of eating options. Many of these can be found in picturesque settings overlooking or next to the river. Tourism is becoming increasingly important to the area and works have been undertaken to provide more facilities. For example, there are now two 'beaches' (Yes, really! BEACHES!!) on the banks of the river at Abaran and Blanca. As a destination, it truly has something for everyone (as long as 'everyone' isn't looking for a 24 hour Rave!! Lol!) Stay safe, El Guiri
