To kick off 2014 we thought we would share with you one of the latest supercars on the market today, here we have the final version of the Pagani Zonda Revolucion. The Revolucion is the pinnacle of performance, technology and art to be found in a car, BUT sadly it's only a track car. Horacio Pagani and his team have created a car designed to kick ass on the track and sparkle in a car collection.

It starts with the carbon titanium central monocoque which weighs in at only 1070kg. At its heart is a 6.0ltr V12 AMG Mercedes engine which pumps out an incredible 800bhp and 730Nm of torque, this results in a power to weight ratio of 748bhp per tonne; this is F1 terratory. A 6 speed magnesium transversal and sequential gearbox changes gears in 20ms, It's had lots of aerodynamic changes including new front deflectors on the bonnet, a vertical stabiliser on the rear and a DRS Drag Reduction System on the rear wing.

So how much? Well at this point a lot of publications would say, “if you have to ask then you can’t afford it” I was tempted but I just have to share it with you. 2.2 million Euros plus taxes... Can you afford one? Hello neighbours!

We saw this Seat 1400 last month at the Phoenix Car Club's Ace Cafe Meet in Los Montesinos and noticed its 3 headlights. It got us thinking - were there many cars produced with three headlights? Answer: No, but we have found some.

The Abarth 1500 Biposto was a one-off coupe designed by Bertone designer Franco Scaglione, for the 1952 Turin Motor Show. In 2010 it won the prestigious Gran Turismo Trophy at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, meaning it appears in the game Gran Turismo 6, which was released last month.

The Tucker 48 was briefly produced in Chicago in 1948 with only 51 cars being were made before the company folded in 1949. Notable owners are movie maker giants Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. The Tatra 87 was a car built by Czechoslovak manufacturer Tatra between 1936 and 1950. It was powered by a rear-mounted 2.9 litre air-cooled V8 engine that produced 85hp and had a top speed of 160 km/h. It is ranked among the fastest production cars of its time.

MOTORS IN THE NEWS SAAB Returns. Two and a half years since SAAB shut down production due to financial issues, the first of its new cars rolled off the production line last month in Trollhattan, Sweden. National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), the Hong Kong-based company that bought the brand out of bankruptcy in September last year, presented its new 9-3 Aero Sedan as the first in a series of new cars it will produce. The model has the same exterior and interior design as when production stopped in April 2011 but it has been given an updated navigation system. SAAB shut down after six decades of building cars, dealing a huge blow to the town and the company’s 3,000 employees. NEVS now employs around 600 people, including many former SAAB employees, and acting President Mattias Bergman said he felt "incredibly happy, proud and humble" that the company has been able to restart production.

Virgin Returns to Motor Racing. Sir Richard Branson has announced his entry back into motor racing as part of the new Formula E electric car championship. He is putting a team together to take part in the inaugural championship starting in Beijing in September and ending in London in June 2015. Formula E cars have a top speed of around 150mph, generate half the engine noise of petrol-engine cars and produce zero emissions on track. Sir Richard Branson last competed in racing in 2010 (Virgin Racing) and 2011 (Marussia Virgin Racing) in Formula One. There are 10 teams taking part, one being four-times F1 champion Alain Prost. Ferrari 458 Italia Niki Lauda edition A Niki Lauda fan has paid tribute to the World Champion by ordering his new Ferrari 458 with a bespoke design to match the Ferrari 312T car driven by Niki when he won his first Championship for Ferrari in 1975 (photo below). The red paint job is complemented by a white roof, gold wheels and a tricolore racing stripe, while on the inside, the black leather seats are stitched together with red thread. Mechanically, the car is identical to the standard 458, with a 562bhp 4.5-litre V8, a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 202mph. Niki Lauda also drove the car in 1976, where he suffered the crash at the Nurburgring which was documented last summer in the film 'Rush'. Niki is still regularly seen at the F1 races nowadays, although you'll find him in the Mercedes pit garage.

60 to 0 in 3 Seconds. A new British piece of technology is set to change the future of police car chases and the days of the stinger. It's a police 'gun' that can stop a car's engine in 3 seconds. The device uses a pulse of radio waves to temporarily short-circuit a vehicle's electronics and stopping it within three seconds. The RF Safe-Stop has been developed by an Essex-based company called E2V. The system works at a relatively short range, up to 50m and according to E2V, is 'very directional', enabling security services to precisely target one car among many. In this way it differs from 'EMP' systems seen in films like GoldenEye and Hello Ocean's Eleven. neighbours! 2.The M8 Glasgow Junctions 13 to 21 on the M8 through central Glasgow includes the 10-lane Kingston Bridge which funnels motorway traffic alongside local traffic, with no hard shoulders.

4. Bealach na Ba, Wester Ross This road in the west of Scotland has the greatest ascent of any in Britain, rising from sea level at Applecross to a height of 626m within the space of about five miles. With gradients of around 20%, tight hairpins and narrow single track sections, it’s a great road.

6 6. Hardknott Pass, Lake District Britain’s steepest road is between Eskdale and the Duddon Valley and climbs to a height of 393m at the top, with 30% gradients in places. Along the way are a series of brutal switchbacks, single tracks and tiny passing areas. I have travelled this road and remember how just as we dropped over the top and started on the steepest descent, we faced three cars coming up and had to reverse to the passing area which had a sheer drop to the side. The Citroen suspension wasn't the greatest help as the car bounced with the combination of handbreak and revving in reverse. The wheels were inches from the edge and the smell of burning clutch takes me back 7 there. Nice driving, Ian, I’m glad it wasn’t me.

5 5. Black Mountain Road, Powys The road between Llandovery and Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen in the Brecon Beacons is spectacular with steep climbs, twists, dips and sheer drops. It reaches a height of 493m and includes a 180 degree hairpin. A little piece of Monaco in Wales.

7. The Cat and Fiddle, Peak District The A537 between Macclesfield and Buxton is officially the most dangerous individual road in Britain. Alongside the scenery are severe bends and to each side, either steep drops, dry stone walls or rock faces. Before

Season News Race Calendar The 2014 season starts in Melbourne, Australia on 16 March and ends in Abu Dhabi on 23 November. There will be one new race, in Sochi in Russia on 12 October and we welcome the return of the Austrian Grand Prix for the first time since 2002 following the refurbishment of the country's track, which is now called the Red Bull Ring after its new owners. The Austrian race takes place on 22 June, two weeks before the British Grand Prix on 6 July.

2014

F1 Rule Changes 2014 - Part 1 This coming season sees one of the biggest changes to affect F1 in the past few years; yes the engines are changing. Here’s a summary of the major rule changes with regard to the cars themselves. 1. Engine Power: On the way out is the 2.4-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, which have been used for the past 7 years. New for the 2014 season are 1.6 litre V6 turbos with a much more extensive use of energy recovery (see no.2 below). The V8 engines produced about 780bhp, whereas the new turbo engines will produce around 620bhp or more, but coupled with the electrical energy, it is expected to match and better the previous V8 engine. 2. Energy Recovery Systems (ERS): This is the new buzz word, replacing the KERS F1 system from 2011. Kers relied on kinetic energy whereas the new energy recovery system has twice the power (due to now using two electrical motors rather than one) and 10 times the capacity of the previous KERS system. KERS produced 60kw that could be used for 6.7 seconds a lap. From 2014, ERS will have 120kw for just over 30 seconds a lap. Although the engines will be more complicated, the drivers will actually have less work to do, since controlling this system is changing from a button on the steering wheel that the drivers had to press to the ERS being built into the running of the engine. 3. Fuel Restrictions: The new engines will be governed by two different fuel restrictions; a maximum fuel-flow rate of 100kg an hour (previously it was 160170kg/hour) and the amount of fuel that can be used in a race is limited to 100kg. So we may well see the return of cars running out of fuel before the race end.

F1 Driver Profile Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso is the first (and only) Spanish F1 World Champion. Born in Asturias, Spain in 1981, his interest in racing began at the age of three, when his father made a kart for Fernando’s older sister. She never really took to it, but her younger brother loved it and by the age of 5 or 6, his father could see that his son had more of a spark than kids of his age. At 7, he won his first race and also the children’s title, claiming eight race victories during the championship. Two years later, racing in the juniors, he won his first victories in Asturias and in the Basque Country. In 1991 he clinched the runner-up spot in the Spanish championship. The following year, he raced in the 100cc category, requiring special dispensation from the Federation since given his age he should have been competing with the juniors. Just before turning 12 he received a break from Genis Marcó (owner of Genikart) who said he could race with them in the Spanish Championship. Fernando responded by winning the 1993 Spanish Championship. Motorracing is expensive and Fernando worked from 14 to help with the costs, mentoring youngsters. He continued his winning ways over the next few years and made his Formula One debut in the 2001 season with Minardi, and then moved to the Renault as a test driver the next year. In 2003 Fernando became one of the main drivers for the Nissan team and became the youngest driver to win a Grand Prix, at the age of 22. In 2004 Fernando did not win any races, but racked up more points than the previous year and also achieved one of the best starts ever, finishing third in the US Grand Prix having been ninth on the grid. In 2005 Fernando became F1 World Championship, at the time the youngest ever. He repeated the achievement in 2006, clinching the title in a thrilling final race. Staying in Formula One, he moved to the legendary Ferrari in 2010. The cars have not been at their best the last few years and with Sebastian Vettel’s dominance in the Red Bull, Fernando has fought hard against him, this year finishing second in the Championship. Unlike all our previous F1 Legends we have showcased over the last 4 or 5 years, Fernando is still racing and very much in with a chance of taking the title again, especially with the engine changes. Good Luck Fernando, it would be great to see him and Ferrari take a Championship.

t was not a day for sitting on the sun terrace, since the night had passed with strong winds, rain and cold. However, from a slow start in the morning, around 30 classic cars came and went. By midday the inside lounge bar resembled a London tube train in the rush hour with many standing and chairs being brought in from outside. Many had come in their day cars since some of the roads were flooded and more rain was forecast. At least the roads had not been gritted with the dreaded salt that has lost us so many early cars. What a rip roaring day! The turnout was amazing with over 80 bikes and even more Santas. They made their way to Waldermars in La Florida, attracting lots of attention. Simon Morton provided the entertainment all day, including a great Elvis tribute. The raffle and auction raised a lot of money and the kids with the shake tins collected 72€!

In total 1,646€ was raised for Reach Out, Torrevieja and Caritas, San Javier. Motorcycle Live 2013 took place last month at the NEC in Birmingham and is the UKâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s biggest bike show. The opening ceremony celebrated the success of four British 2013 racing champions. World Superbike Champion Tom Sykes, World Supersport Champion Sam Lowes, World Speedway Champion Tai Woffinden and British Superbike Champion Alex Lowes. Every major manufacturer was present, showcasing the 2014 model launches in the UK for the first time and there were 17 free live features and zones. Racing stars from MotoGP, SBK, BSB and the Isle of Man TT were all present and one very special guest, HRH Prince William Duke of Cambridge. Prince William is known to be a keen motorcyclist and came to get a close look at the UK motorcycle industry and the latest models that had been launched.
