Richard O’Rourke has been busy as well, with a whole host of motorsport events taking place last month, he watched them all and then reported on them for us, what a lovely man. Richard also had a trip down to Antic Auto, held at the IFA Centre in Alicante. He snapped so many photos, but we can only fit in a limited number, we hope you like the ones we have chosen. BMW celebrates it’s 100th anniversary this year and we cover it in true CCT style (100 years in 1 page!). Audi R8 Spyder The open-top version of Audi’s second-generation R8 supercar, like the coupe now offers a V-10 engine only, but it reaches 0-62mph in only 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 197 mph. The foldable roof is made of a lightweight cloth, to ensure the design is as light and compact as possible. It tapers into two fins at the rear to give the car a very sporty look. The roof needs just 20 seconds to fold and is operational at speeds of up to 31 mph.
Mazda MX-5 Hard Top Coupe This new version will be named the MX-5 RF (Retractable Fastback) and is different to previous MX-5s since it features coupe-like body styling with a targa roof that folds away electronically, similar to that of the Porsche 911 Targa. It’s due out this summer in Europe.
Facelifted Nissan GT-R This new version features more power to its V6 engine and new styling details. Available from the end of the year, the price hasn't been revealed, but the current model is priced from around €100K. Since the GT-R evolved from the Skyline brand, Nissan had a collection of classic Skylines dating back to 1969 on display as a nod to it's heritage.

MOTORS IN THE NEWS The World's First Autonomous Racing Car. A new driverless series will see 10 teams compete to develop the best artificially intelligent controlled car. Named RoboRace, the vehicles will race at the same events (not the same races) as those of the electric league Formula E. Developed by London-based Kinetik, the car itself is due to feature in its first outing in the 2016/17 Formula E series. The cars will have top speeds of more than 300km/h and although the the car is intended to be the first specifically designed autonomous racing car it won't be the first on a racing track. Computer scientists at Stanford University have previously adapted an Audi TTS to be completely autonomous and raced it around the Thunderhill Raceway in California. The car was able to travel between 110-120mph as it sped around the track. GT96
Vantage GT8
Aston Martin Vantage GT8. Aston Martin has revealed its latest limited-edition sports car, the Vantage GT8, a model inspired by the GTE race car programme with which Aston Martin competes in the World Endurance Championship. The GT8 follows in the wake of the successful, limited-run GT12 of last year. Just 150 examples of the GT8 will be sold, costing from £165,000 each. Deliveries begin in the autumn.
China's First Supercar. A Chinese company, Techrules has shown it's AT96 and GT96 TREV concept supercars, which, in true Chinese style, look similar to another car...This time time it's the McLaren P1. What is different though is that it uses a turbine to power the car and the company says it generates 1030bhp. The TREV (Turbine-Recharged Electric Vehicle) has overcome the turbine’s limited tractability by using a very small 'micro turbine' to directly drive a generator that produces the electricity that powers the electric motors that actually turn the road wheels unlike previous attempts at turbine power by Lotus and Jaguar. Techrules aim to produce a fully working concept within the next few years.
Ferrari Land. If you're planning a trip to Barcelona this summer to experience the new Ferrari World at PortAventura, don't go! Originally due to open this year, it is now scheduled to open in 2017. The 'new theme park unique in Europe' will have a vertical accelerator at a height of 112m metres and will become the highest roller coaster in Europe, overcoming the Shambhala (76m) which is also in PortAventura. Designed to emulate the sensation of a Formula 1 car, it will accelerate to 180km/h in just 5 seconds giving a g-force of 1.35G. Thanks to Fabio for the update.

Antic Auto Alicante, the annual Classic Car and Bike show took place at the IFA Exhibition Centre on April 2nd and 3rd, with 60 exhibitors taking part. The show featured an outdoor and indoor display with over 200 classic cars, some for sale and some just for show. Steve is a fully qualified Master Auto Technician with 25 years experience. Back in the UK, after leaving school, Steve worked at a Vauxhall main dealer and while there, he attended college and obtained a BTEC and City & Guilds National qualification. Moving onto be an MOT tester, clutch fitter and all round mechanic, he obtained a BTEC Higher National certificate. Steve then took a job at a busy Ford main dealer and was regularly sent on training courses, including advanced engine management, fault finding, engine & gearbox repairs. In all he attended over 50 courses in his 11 years at Ford and is qualified with an IMI (Institute of Motor Industry), AAE (Advanced Automotive Engineer) and CAE (Certificate Automotive Engineer, Level 3). Moving to Spain 8 years ago, Steve has worked both mobile and for some of the more established garages in the area. 2015 Formula One Bahrain once again provided us with one of the most exciting races of the year and while Nico Rosberg took a lights to flag victory it was far from plain sailing for those behind him. Alonso broke a few ribs in his big Oz crash and was replaced by GP2 champ Stoffel Vandoorne and Vettel never even made the start as his engine blew on the formation lap. Hamilton had a poor start and would eventually finish third behind the Ferrari of Raikkonen. Ricciardo’s Red Bull showed some promise to finish fourth with the Haas of Grosjean in fifth, another fine result for the newcomers. The Toro Rossos were also in the points as was Vandoorne in the McLaren which is improving in terms of both reliability and speed. Funny though that their two former world champions cannot score and in comes a rookie and nicks a point. Rosberg wins in Bahrain
On then to Shanghai for the Chinese GP and more bad luck for Hamilton who had to start from the back of the grid after encountering engine problems in practice. Rosberg was on pole and got a good start while the Ferraris got tangled in each other in the first corner when Kvyat tried to sneak past. There was mayhem behind and among those to suffer most were Ricciardo who picked up a puncture and Hamilton who lost a front wing. Vettel eventually got past Kvyat to finish second. Ricciardo recovered to fourth place while Hamilton took seventh and is now a long way behind his team mate in the championship standings. Alonso was back in the McLaren but neither he nor Button got near the top ten. A remarkable statistic to arise from the Chinese GP was that all of the starting cars finished the race, only the sixth time that this has ever happened since the F1 World Championship began sixty-six years ago.

Geoff and the Trans American Trail
Motorbike enthusiast Geoff Stacey lost his wife, Sue, suddenly to a hereditary condition in 2007 they had not known she had. Known as "Long QT" or "Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS)", they were not aware that she was at risk and were informed that it can jump generations. After checking their children and grandchildren Geoff discovered his eldest grandson also had the condition. Luckily, the amazing staff at Great Ormond Street hospital (after treatment and 3 operations) have been able to sort him out and he is now healthy and no longer at risk. As a way of saying thank you to the hospital, Geoff is going to ride a dirt bike right across the US without using Tarmac roads, known as the 'Trans AmericanTrail'. This is 5,000 miles, unsupported, off road, starting in Tennessee and finishing in Oregon. He will go over the Appalachians, the Rockies and the Great Divide. What a trouper! He hopes he can help in some small way by using this challenge to highlight this great cause. All money raised will be donated to GOSH and he will be covering all of his own costs. at the World Superbikes WSB Motorland Aragon Motorland Aragon circuit is on the outskirts of Alcaniz and sits in splendid countryside surrounded by sublime roads that are a biker's dream! A friend had been given 'passes' for the weekend and I was lucky enough to be invited along! Well, it would have been rude not to really! Lol!! The circuit itself is superb, well organised with top notch facilities. The track incorporates a 'copy' of the famous "Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca. Sadly, this area of the site was closed to spectators for the weekend, but despite this there were still many great vantage points from which to watch the action. The passes meant we were free to 'wander around' all weekend and I cannot thank my good friends who had the patience of Job never tiring of my constant questions and persistent 'slowness'! Lol!! Cheers guys. Chaz Davies had his first win of the 2016 season in Race 1 on Saturday and performed even better on Sunday in Race 2. He started 3rd on the grid, but by the end of lap 2 he'd made the move to the front then proceeded to 'scarper', leaving behind the 'pack'. Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea both managed a 2nd and a 3rd each over the weekend; making it an all British podium...brings a tear to the eye doesn't it? Although Welshman Davies did the double, the only Dragon on stage was our very own Dai, who leapt on stage during the post race interviews to get Chaz to autograph his red scales!! Lol! Ever the gent, Chaz happily signed Dai whilst thanking us for supporting him through the biggest smile he's had this year! And who could blame him?!
The weekend's results mean Rea still leads the championship 26 points clear of a chasing Chaz, with Rea's team mate Sykes snapping at Chaz's heels 29 points behind Rea. Whilst some Riders cited "...lack of tyre grip..." as hampering their efforts, insider sources at Pirelli told us 'confidentially' that Riders were "...making bad the choice of tyres..." against the advice of Pirelli technicians adding that lower than expected temperatures meant that the 'preferred choice' of riders was "...not always the good choice for the race here...".Whether lack of grip or a reluctance to take technical advice re tyre operating temperatures; no one had an answer to Chaz's performance this weekend (over 6 seconds ahead of Sykes in race 2!) at Motorland Aragon and Dai the Dragon hasn't stopped smiling since (he's also refusing to shower/wash off Chaz's signature! Lol!!) Race 1: 1st Davies, 2nd Rea, 3rd Sykes. Race 2: 1st Davies, 2nd Sykes, 3rd Rea. Other results at Aragon were: SUPER SPORT: 1st Sofuoglu, 2nd Krummenacher, 3rd Terol. SUPER STOCK: 1st Mercado, 2nd Rinaldi 3rd De Rosa. EUROPEAN JUNIOR CUP: 1st Calank, 2nd Perez, 3rd Grassia. Next month Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll report on where we stayed. Stay Safe, El Guiri
