The season hadn't started as planned for Luke, just a few weeks before the first meeting he found out that he wasn't to be running the ADR, so the team had to get the Clio ready and had no time for improvements.
1st Meet Cartagena 14th April 2012 Despite some initial electrical problems, by the third session I had set some consistent times but it was the Lopez brothers in their Hyundai Getz Cup that were setting the pace with a 1:57. I was less than a second behind, in 3rd position, 3 seconds in front of 4th, but struggling with understeer and temperature on the front tyres. It was going to be hard to catch the Lopez brothers who were getting quicker and quicker in their Getz.. With only a couple of sessions left my Clio once again suffered electrical problems & had to be loaded on the trailer, to be transported back to the garage. Now I have to wait for the next race in Guadix at the end of May. Luke Mustoo

This is the Lamborghini Urus, a 4x4 rival to the BMW X6M and Range Rover, due out in 2016. It's thought that the production version will be a plug-in hybrid, generating 'around 600bhp'. It is likely to be priced from around £150,000.

We ran a feature on James Nash last year when we met him at the Circuito Cartagena, just after he had just become the Independent Drivers’ Champion in the 2011 British Touring Car Championship. He has now moved into the World Touring Car Championship with Team Aon, who have also moved into the world series from the BTCC. The step up to WTCC level will see him racing a Ford Focus alongside some of the biggest names in the sport. He took the time out to talk to us when he was racing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia in the 3rd and 4th round of the new season. How did your move into the WTCC come about? An opportunity came up to drive with Team Aon and I jumped at the chance to compete alongside the touring car elite. It has been a long time ambition of mine to race in the WTCC. What are you most looking forward to? Going wheel to wheel with people like three-time World Champion Yvan Muller, Rob Huff, Alain Menu and Gabriele Tarquini. I’ve grown up watching them race and I’m itching to get behind the wheel and make my own mark too.
What are your future plans for the next few years? My ultimate plan is to win the Championship! As you know I have always wanted to compete in the World Series and I am hoping that my 3 years experience in the BTCC will stand me in good stead to achieve this.
A new series brings new circuits; the next round is in Marrakech, Morocco and is a street circuit, have you raced on these types of circuits before? I raced on street circuits in the SEAT León Eurocup in 2009. They take a bit of getting used to and I’m looking forward to racing them again. You’ve made a promising start to the season, how I have raced at both Monza and Valencia before, are you finding it? but all the rest are new tracks to me. It’s been really positive both for me and the team. MOTORS IN THE NEWS Egg-tra Safe Baby Seat. U.K. inventor Jullian Preston-Powers unveiled the Carkoon®, an innovative new car seat for babies that offers more protection in the event of a vehicle collision by literally cocooning the child. Carkoon offers an extra layer of protection when detecting a collision by deploying a quirky, shell like cover that is fire resistant and activates in 50 milliseconds. The egg-shaped seat has also incorporated ‘swivel’ technology that allows parents to fasten the child’s seatbelt while sitting in the driver or passenger seat, allowing them to turn the seat to a safer rear view position after securing the child.
Dodge SRT Viper (2013) The Dodge Viper quietly disappeared whilst Chrysler was restructuring and was even considered for sale. But Dodge have now unveiled the new 2013 SRT Viper. This car has been built around a steel spaceframe chassis, but many of the panels are now crafted from carbonfibre. Bonnet, roof and tailgate are made from composites, while the doors are aluminium. They've stuck with the V10 engine, the same 8.4ltr lump we've seen in previous models
The seat even boasts an ‘Emergency Beacon Transmitter’ that allows a GPS to automatically alert the emergency services to your location. The £499 seat could be on sale as soon as next year, once manufacturers can prove "that the airbag does not pose any risk to the child or impede its rescue from a car in an emergency." GTA Spano: The 820HP Spanish hypercar This GTA Spano is Spanish built and about to shake up the international supercar market. Its vital statistics of 820bhp, 8.3 litres, 10 cylinders will take it up to a huge 220mph. The power is fed to the rear wheels by a choice of seven speed gearboxes, one being a traditional manual and the other an automatic with sequential shift paddles. Its production is limited to just 99 examples and it will most certainly command respect from its peers. Unlike many other small series production cars which use a mish-mash of parts from exisitng models, the GTA Spano has a fair number of global part patents itself. The inside is surrounded by leather and carbonfibre and the rear view mirror has been replaced by a camera, which is transmitted to a seven inch screen. This displays virtual instrumentation when the car isn’t in reverse. A rough estimate for the car could be around 550,000 Euros. More information can be found at gtamotor.com.

Do you have to change it? Yes, if you are a resident in Spain for more than 2 years. UK licences are valid throughout the EU but it should be one of the new style picture ones with an EU ring of stars. Most people change to a Spanish licence because their UK one is due to expire or because they want a photo ID card. Warning! If you choose not to change your licence for a Spanish one, you could face a big problem if the licence is lost, stolen or if you are resident in Spain of more than 2 years. The DVLA will not issue a replacement licence to anyone resident outside of the UK. They might issue a letter saying you have the right to drive but this will not be sufficient to get a Spanish licence. With Clare Lawrence Casey Stoner is an Australian-born MotoGP Champion. He was born in Southport, Queensland in 1985 and ever since he was a toddler, he has shown a tremendous interest in motorbikes. Casey moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a career in racing during his early teens. In 2007 he became MotoGP World Champion for Ducati Corse and last year he won his second World Championship with Repsol Honda. This season he is defending his title as current MotoGP Champion. Hello Casey… It’s great to be interviewing you! Thank you so much for your time… “Thank you.” Firstly, congratulations on your MotoGP titles… It must feel incredible to have won two World Championships… Can you tell me what it means to you to hold two titles of such significance? “It’s obviously a fantastic feeling. It’s what we’ve been working towards our whole life and to finally achieve it, not just once but twice is a great feeling. I’m very grateful to those around me that have helped me accomplish this goal.” What are your first memories of motorbike riding? “To be honest I don’t really remember so clearly that far back as I first rode a bike when I was three years old! All I do remember is being so happy when on a bike and feeling so comfortable. When I watch videos we have of me in my first races as a young child, the memories and feelings return.” Being only four years old and competing in an under 9’s race is somewhat remarkable… Do you remember much about this race? “No. Not really! Like I said when I re-watch these old races then I have some emotions and feelings that come back to me, but I was too young to remember them clearly.”
Did you miss much from back home? “I guess the outdoor life as that’s a big part of the Australian lifestyle, but no – not really.” Your family have clearly been a massive support for you… Do you think that just with your sheer determination you would be where you are today without that help? “That’s very difficult to say, my family have been a wonderful support throughout my career and my dad still plays a large role to this day. There have been points in my career that I would perhaps change if I had a second chance but these ‘moments’ may have moulded me into the rider and person I am today. I think everything happens for a reason and when all is said and done I am simply very grateful to be where I am today.” Do you have any pastimes that you like to pursue when you are not racing? “I love to be outdoors. I really enjoy my fishing, it something I can do and totally relax and switch off.”

When you want to travel do you like fast cars as much as you do fast bikes? “I love all motorsport to be honest but I’m not a speed freak, especially on public roads. I get my rush of speed on track and when I’m driving around; my car is simply to get me from A to B.” Congratulations also on the birth of your little girl Alessandra… Will you be happy to let her follow a similar sport to yourself or another fast-paced activity if she wants to in the future? “Both Adriana and I would be happy for her to follow her own dreams; we will support her whatever she decides to do. Of course I will teach Ally about riding a bike and the skills I have learnt over the years, but then it’s up to her what she wishes to pursue.” What can we expect to see next from you? “I’m not sure yet, I’m still enjoying my racing but I’m not one of those racers that will continue to race just because it’s what I know, or I’m afraid to leave this world. When I stop enjoying it, I will take a break and do something else. I have made no secret about the fact I love V8 Supercars and if I can be competitive I’d love to give that a go!”
You were just 14 years of age when you and your family moved to England… How did you adjust to life in a different country? “It’s not something I really thought about. I was with my family and we practically lived at racetracks. A race track is pretty much the same environment the world over so that was quite comforting in a way. I was also very lucky to meet Chaz Davies and Leon Camier when we first moved to the UK and we became great friends. We still are to this day, but we don’t get to see so much of each other now with our hectic schedules.”

22nd April Sakhir, Bahrain Despite the ongoing civil unrest in Bahrain, the race went ahead and at last, it all came right for World Champion Sebastian Vettel as he took his first victory of the 2012 season. He was on pole and kept in first place, pulling away from the pack at the start.
The start in Bahrain Lotus's Romain Grosjean made a flying start and sat comfortably behind Sebastian. The other Lotus of Kimi Raikkonen was also doing well, having started from 11th place on the grid. After 10 laps, Kimi was up to third place and continued to close on the front runners, finally passing Romain on lap 24. By lap 33 he had caught Sebastian. But the Finn could not pass the Red Bull and after they stopped together for the final time on lap 39, the German eased away and Kimi could not hold him, finishing in second place, his best result since his return to F1 this year. Romain Grosjean took third, a superb result for the Lotus team and nice to see the black and gold colours back on the podium. Mark Webber finished fourth for the fourth time this season and China’s winner Nico Rosburg came in fifth. Lewis Hamilton was running in third, but problems with two of his pit stops caused him to drop down the rankings, eventually finishing in eighth. Jenson Button was in the top 7 for most of the race before suffering a puncture with three laps to go, then retiring on the penultimate lap with a broken exhaust. Force India's Paul di Resta, on a two-stop strategy, drove an excellent race to take sixth place.

Matt Neal took second in his new NGTC spec Honda Civic. Collard’s team-mate Tom Onslow-Cole took third. The podium in Bahrain Matt Neal took a historic win in race two, the first victory for one of the series' newer Next Generation Touring Car-spec machines. April Dates: Driver Standings Andrew Jordan finished second with Jason Plato in his NGTC-spec 13th May Montmelo, Spain MG third. Jason Plato won the last race of the day, giving MG a 1: Sebastian Vettel 53 27th May Monaco, Monte Carlo 2: Lewis Hamilton 49 victory on its return to the series. Andrew Jordan took second with 3: Mark Webber 48 Dave Newsham in third. In race two, our last months ‘Under the Spotlight’ star; Gordon Shedden won to make it five different winners CAR-REG COSTA BLANCA in five races. Matt Neal took second and Mat Jackson third. Race ALL TRAFICO ADMINISTRATION WORK three was ultimately won again by Gordon Shedden, despite being Importation of foreign vehicles the third driver to cross the line at the end. Here are some of what the motor industry gave us as windups.
Speed apparently isn't fashionable any more, so claims about speed are now banned in adverts. Vauxhall turned this on its head by advertising an 'advanced new gadget' for its Astra VXR. The Luton Based company said: “In direct response to some media critics who claim the Astra VXR is 'just too powerful' we are announcing a new accessory. It is named the ‘Accelerator Pedal Retarding Intervention Lump’ or APRIL for short...” The under pedal wedge claimed to reduce the 0-60mph time from 6.2 seconds to 14.06 seconds.
A miniature windmill on the back of a Seat Ibiza. The Aero-Tonto system is comprised of a little fan that sits on the back of the roof and, when driving at least three mph down the road, it can generate enough power to light up the low beams. To get enough energy for high beam lights, the car needs to go at least 24 mph. Seat says that Aero-Tonto can add three mpg to the Ibiza Ecomotive's 94.1 extra urban mpg rating. When you're ready to hit the car wash the blades can be folded down safely.
If you do not know by now, you should be aware of a new piece of legislation in the UK that instructs that ‘your tax disc must be displayed within parameters that do not exceed 20 degrees’. Land Rover created a whole video to launch a new self-levelling tax disc holder. It said: 'Given as a Land Rover isn't always going to be operating on even ground, this simple device employs ContraMotion technology to ensure that the tax disc always remains on the level and therefore will always be legally compliant.' Auto Windscreens claimed to have made the world's first prescription windscreen. The car glass repair and replacement service claimed that staff at its state of the art factory had developed a windscreen that allowed people to do away with their glasses and contact lenses. Each screen could be curved to match an individual's ophthalmic prescription. They also went on to say that the new windscreen could lead to a reduction in vehicle theft, since only the person the windscreen is prescribed to would be able to see properly through it.

This one off Ferrari motorbike was sanctioned by Piero Ferrari in 1990, two years after his father Enzo passed away. It was built completely from scratch by Dave Kay; he had written to Ferrari to ask if he could create a motorcycle as a tribute to the late Enzo. Kay got the green light and with a blank canvas in front of him he set about trying to imagine the type of bike Ferrari would have built had it had the time or inclination.
The bike is powered by a 4 cylinder, 900cc engine, producing 105bhp and 060mph in under 3 seconds. It was finished in 1995 and has been owned for the past 17 years by a British collector. It goes under the hammer at Bonham's on April 29th and since it's the only Ferrari motorcycle ever built, it’s expected to fetch a cool £100,000. Jorge Lorenzo takes the win

8th April Losail, Qatar Yamaha's 2010 Champion Jorge Lorenzo became the first winner of the new 1000cc MotoGP era after a battle with the factory Hondas. Lorenzo was on pole but lost the lead to reigning champion Casey Stoner on lap four. Stoner had built up a lead of two seconds at the halfway point and maintained this until the closing laps when Lorenzo and third placed Dani Pedrosa began closing the gap. Pedrosa took second place on lap 17, which was quickly taken back by Lorenzo who then made his race-winning pass on Stoner under braking for the final turn with four laps remaining. Lorenzo went on to claim his first Qatar MotoGP win by 0.852sec, with Pedrosa demoting his team-mate Stoner to third place with an out-braking move into turn one on the penultimate lap. After the race, Casey Stoner revealed he had been suffering from arm pump, causing numbness in his right arm, throughout the race. Don’t forget to read our interview with him on page 13. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team-mates Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow spent the entire race fighting over fourth, with Crutchlow finally taking the place. Valentino Rossi had a miserable start to the new grand prix season, off the pace finishing in tenth. 29th April Jerez, Spain We will report on this race next month.

Tom Sykes led the first race at Imola, Italy for half the race, before Carlos Checa made his move and overtook the Kawasaki rider and went onto win. Sykes took second place, with Leon Haslam finishing in third after a battle with Max Biaggi. Carlos Checa won the second race to take his first double win of 2012, ahead of Tom Sykes. Leon Haslam again took third place. The first race at Assen, Netherlands was run over nine wet laps and won by Sylvain Guintoli ahead of rookie rider Davide Giugliano and his team-mate Carlos Checa. 2012 Jon Kirkham took the victory at Brand’s Hatch from Alastair Seeley with Michael Rutter coming in third. Race two was postponed on safety grounds and will now take place at Oulton Park on Sunday 6 May. Ian Lowry won his first race in the BSB at Thruxton, Tommy Hill took second, with Josh Brookes third. In the second race, Josh Brookes took his first win of the season after a calculated last lap move on defending champion Tommy Hill.
