The $2M Hyper-GT Speedtail This is the Speedtail, McLaren Automotive’s first hyper-GT, joining the marque’s pinnacle “Ultimate Series”. With speeds of up to 250-mph, it is the most powerful road car built by the British company. The Speedtail delivers a combined 1,050ps for acceleration to 186-mph in just 12.8 seconds, to be faster than McLaren’s most powerful machine, the P1. For extra power, the “Velocity” mode optimizes the engine and active aerodynamic, lowering the body by 35mm so the highest point of the car is just 1,120mm from the road. The exterior is focused on delivering the very best in aerodynamics so the Speedtail is the most drag-efficient McLaren road car ever built. This is largely down to the dramatically-slender and elongated 137mm carbon body and teardrop-shaped cockpit which keeps air close to the sculpture and directs it smoothly away. A large single piece of glass covers the entire volume to replace structural panels for added weight loss and aero efficiency. The tapered rear features flexible carbon spoilers that lift and adjust according to driving style to further assist drag. The sculpted slim seats are covered in tactile leather; the driver seat is adjustable and the two rear ones fixed. Interwoven carbon titanium deposition materials and digitally embossed, full-aniline and lightweight leathers can be ordered through the McLaren Special Operations bespoke division. A couple of digital screens on either side of the driver provide the necessary road information. The Speedtail introduces the grace, allure of the golden age of motor car design.

XI Rally of Gandia
Exactly as predicted, the inclement weather played a big part in the XI Rally of Gandia on the 19th & 20th of October. Organized by the Motorsport Club Gandia, the changing weather conditions combined with the winding roads proved a real challenge even for the more experienced drivers, testing their expertise to the limit and eliminating many from the final results. From the outset, the clear leaders and eventual winners were Santiago Carnicer and his co-driver Carlos Chamorro in their Ford Fiesta R5, but only 40 seconds separated them from Miguel Garcia and co-driver Checo Salom in their Renault Megane. Two minutes behind in third place were Santi Cañizares and Ricardo Ranero intheir Porsche GT3. There are now only 2 rallies remaining to see who will be overall winner for the Valencian Region Championship 2018, Rally La Nucia - 9th & 10th November, and Rally Valencia - 1st & 2nd December. How Cars Get Their Names
Did you ever wonder how cars get named and their meanings? , well here are a few. Several Mercedes-Benz models received the suffix E before the firm officially introduced the E-Class. Always preceded by the engine displacement, it indicated the presence of a fuel injection system (einspritzung in German). The 280E came with a fuel-injected 2.8-liter engine, for example. Open an anthropology book and you’ll read the Qashqai are a migratory, Turkic-speaking people who live in the Zagros mountains in Iran. How the name ended up on the hatch of an SUV is anyone’s guess but the answer is likely something along the lines of “it sounded cool.” Renault began moving away from numerical nameplates when it introduced the Clio in 1990. The revamped naming system marked the beginning of a new era for the firm. Its marketing department came up with the name Twingo for the entry-level model presented in 1993. The name is a combination of three dance styles: twist, swing and tango. Toyota blended German and Greek to invent the word Yaris. The Japanese firm explains Charis was a symbol of beauty and elegance in Greek mythology. Toyota’s marketing department could have stopped there but it replaced the first syllable with ya, the word for yes in German. Officially, ya represents the reaction that designers hoped European buyers would have to the first-generation Yaris’ styling. Flashbulbs popped as Porsche introduced the brand-new 901 at the 1963 Frankfurt auto show. Sleek and powerful, the 356’s long-awaited successor made headlines all around the world but it caught the attention of Peugeot for a completely different reason. The French firm swiftly reminded Porsche that it owned the rights to every three-digit car nameplate with a zero in the middle. And, though it didn’t plan on releasing a model named 901 and it certainly had no intention of building a rear-engined sports car, it wasn’t about to let Porsche get away with trademark infringement. Porsche replaced the zero with a one to create the 911. It made about 82 901-badged pre-production cars before changing the car’s name. Peugeot began using three-digit nameplates with a zero in the middle when it introduced the 201 in 1929. The model was quickly joined in showrooms by three additional new cars named 301, 401 and 601, respectively. On some of them, the emblem was placed on the bottom part of the grille and the zero doubled as the hole for the crank. It was a clever solution that designers were proud of so Peugeot continued using it. The three-digit naming system outlived the crank.The numbers stopped evolving in 2012; the 208 (pictured) will be replaced by another 208, not by a 209. Peugeot has occasionally made an exception to its rule for models like the P4, the 1007 and the RCZ. In 2018, the firm uses two zeros to denote SUVs like the 3008.
Toll - less Or Not? Orihuela Town Hall has proposed an alternative solution to the traffic problems on the N-332 at La Zenia roundabout. The Government had suggested closing two roads – Calles Maestro Torralba and Alhambra – but met with fierce opposition from local businesses and residents. The Councillors for Urban Planning, Antonio Zapata (Socialist) and Orihuela Costa, Martina Scheurer (Green) met with the provincial office of the Ministry for Development’s Roads Department on Friday (January 17th). They proposed alternatives to closing the roads as they believe this will only result in more traffic on the N-332. Both councillors argued that the simplest solution would be to get rid of the toll booth on the AP-7 motorway at La Zenia. “The motorway always has less vehicles because the drivers prefer to take another road without paying,” said Zapata, who was certain that the Ministry has the solution to Orihuela Costa’s traffic problems in its own hands.

Since Zenia Boulevard commercial centre opened in September 2012, traffic has multiplied in the area, reaching an average of 33,000 vehicles per day, revealed Zapata. Max goes on to win the race ,Vettel comes 2nd and Kimi completes the podium ,but the big news is off course that Hamilton takes 5th place and is now officialy a 5x World champion which puts him up there with Fangio and Schumacher,Congratulations to Lewis as he has been unbeatable this season.The WCC is not yet decided but Mercedes is in good shape to take that as well which will leave Ferrari empty handed once again.
