Personalised

Students who have language such as dyslexia and ADHD, often struggle in traditional schools. They can feel isolated as their peers move ahead while they fall behind. Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning (BCCL) began in 2015, and applies evidence-based ‘bestteaching’ practices and understands directly to student learning. Each student has a personalised learning plan which includes goals to meet their academic and social and emotional growth. Teachers continually track student progress, which allows them to move year levels throughout the school year. In addition to personalised learning plans, daily physical education classes, brain-breaks, mindfulness exercises and specialist therapeutic interventions are provided during the school day as part of BCCL’s wraparound support.

BCCL follows the UK National Curriculum, the International Primary Years Curriculum (IPC) and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). The IPC and IMYC integrate core subjects through project-based learning, allowing students to learn multiple subject areas through thematic units in a cross-curricular approach. It is located in the City of Hamilton, within walking distance to local parks, businesses, bus transportation and the Bermuda Sea Express Ferry Service, making access to St. George’s and Royal Naval Dockyard historic sites possible. MSA uses the Alberta Programs of Study from Alberta, Canada, which is recognised as one of the world leaders in education.

MSA’s continuous curriculum begins with age-appropriate learning at age 4 in its Early Learning Program and continues through to graduation from grade 12. The Alberta Programs of Study is held in high regard by universities around the world and MSA students write the rigorous Alberta Diploma Exams.

Bermuda Institute is a Seventhday Adventist pre K-12 college preparatory coeducational school, located in Southampton. It is the only Seventh-day Adventist school on the island. It is operated by a twenty-three-member Board of Directors who represent a crosssection of the school constituency, such as pastors, church members, parents and teachers.

A tiny island in the middle of nowhere — how could it possibly have adequate facilities for the schooling of the most important child in the world … yours!

Because Bermudians have always taken education seriously, the facilities are superb. And not just facilities. The simple truth is that Bermuda can and does educate its young residents to a surprising degree of success.

It has been said that Bermuda professionals than any other country on a proportional basis. So you can rest assured that your child will not be put at a disadvantage by coming here with you.

So which school? For beginners, all nurseries — whether Government run or private — have to conform to internationally accepted standards of care and education. The best way to choose is to visit them and also ask other parents.

Schooling is compulsory from public and private institutions, all with curricula that blend North American and British systems.

Many people from overseas plump for private schools here. The fees can reach up to $25,000 a year. There not exclusively) for Catholics and Seventh-Day Adventists, as well as Montessori and special learning schools.

The school year lasts close to 40 weeks, from early September to late June, with Christmas (two weeks), Easter (two weeks) and summer (10 weeks) breaks. Children must wear uniform.
