MidAmerican Energy Iowa Wind-Powered Electric Generation MidAmerican Energy Company is No. 1 in the nation in ownership of wind-powered electric generation among regulated utilities. The company solidified its wind energy leadership by adding 623.3 megawatts of wind generation in Iowa during 2008. In December 2009, MidAmerican Energy Company received approval from the Iowa Utilities Board to add up to 1,001 megawatts of wind generation prior to 2013 to enhance the company’s balanced generation portfolio.
