Festa announces many acts coming to its 37th annual festival, July 18-20

By Thomas Hemman Times Editor A nearly complete entertainment lineup for the 37th annual Festa Italiana was released shortly before press time. It features many new acts such as international pop sensation Patrizio Buanne and acclaimed Las Vegas entertainer Stephen Sorrentino, along with longtime favorites like Dick Contino and The Bronx Wanderers.

Tre Bella, the dynamic trio of female vocalists Lorraine Ferro, JoAnn Robertozzi and Rosie De Sanctis, who made a smashing debut at last year’s Festa, are back in the lineup.

Fans of Bruce Springsteen will want to catch Bruce In The USA, which has been dubbed as “the most powerful and intense Springsteen tribute on the planet.”

There’s also a Billy Joel tribute band, Milwaukee’s own 52nd Street.

The 37th annual Festa Italiana will take place Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20 at Henry Maier Festival Park (Summerfest grounds).

Buanne’s debut album, The Italian, finished at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London with the Royal Philharmonic

Orchestra, reached the top 10 in the United Kingdom, where it went gold in a week. The album was certified as platinum in South Africa and New Zealand, and reached triple platinum status in Australia in 2005. His second album, Forever Begins Tonight, contained his first hit in the United States entitled “Un Angelo” (“Angels”). He performed at the National Italian America Foundation’s gala in October 2006. He has toured internationally and recorded in English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Polish, Afrikaans, Japanese and Chinese.

A sign of summer: ICC’s Courtyard Music Series to start June 2

By Thomas Hemman Times Editor After a long cold winter and a yet nondescript spring, it’s time to think summer. What could be better than spending a warm, starry summer night in the courtyard of the Italian Community Center

Food, service and atmosphere earning high marks for Cafe La Scala

By Thomas Hemman Times Editor Cafe La Scala continues to garner many positive words from diners for its new menu, expanded hours and the staff’s professionalism, according to the latest set of comment cards provided to The Italian Times by General Manager Patrick Morgan.

The public restaurant, located in the Italian Community Center, initiated its new menu in late January, added breakfast service, a varied weekday lunch buffet (for just $8.50) and revamped its regular lunch and dinner menu. Hours were expanded to include breakfast, lunch and dinner service Monday through Saturday.

“Now that winter is finally over, we’re seeing more people coming in for our new menu,” said Morgan.

“So far, we’re pleased with what they’ve had to say. If you haven’t come to Cafe La Scala yet, I want

to invite you to stop in soon.”

Here’s a sampling of the diners’ comments. (Last names are intentionally omitted.) Many mentioned the professionalism of staff members Keith, Amy, Jacqueline, Patrick and Eric, who works in the restaurant when he’s not overseeing banquet events.

“Great, tasty food,” wrote Carmelo and Alice of St. Francis.

“Wonderful people and server.”

They ranked their meals and service as “excellent.”

“The lasagna, chicken pastina soup and Italian bread were superb,” said Barbara, who checked the “excellent box” for the questions asking about the meal and service and the “great bargain” box for the question on the cost of food and drink.

First-time diners Valerie and Suzy noted the “welcoming environment” and added that they were “quite astonished, from the intrigu-

ing location to the professionalism of each and every employee.” They offered high praise for the parmesan potato chips, one of the appetizers on the menu.

“Pleasantly surprised,” stated Don of Whitefish Bay, who gave the meal and service “excellent” marks.

“Eric was prompt but allowed us private time and we weren’t rushed.”

“Got a lot for the price,” wrote an unidentified diner. “Jacqueline was a delight.” This diner ranked the meal and service as “excellent” and noted the “excellent, fresh veggies.”

“The fish fry was great. Keith was very attentive, courteous, polite and friendly,” wrote a diner named Laurie. She added that she came to Cafe La Scala to celebrate her niece’s birthday and all in their party “loved” the restaurant. “We’ll be back,” she said.

Catherine, a diner from

Milwaukee’s east side, wrote this about her meal, “Very well prepared; good fresh taste.” As for the service, she stated, “Friendly people, prompt,” adding that she will come back again.

“An enjoyable experience,” wrote a Whitefish Bay diner, who noted that he made an error was made when ordering but server, Jacqueline, “had no problem fixing it.”

John, another Milwaukee east side resident, said, “Amy was outstanding” and cited the attentiveness of the entire staff. He checked the “excellent” boxes for his meal and service and liked the “reasonable” costs.

“Patrick’s service was effortless and impeccable,” wrote Ben, who checked the “excellent” boxes for the meal and service.

“Keith was a pleasure to have as our server,” said Jason of Milwaukee, who rated the meal and service as “excellent.”

“Amy was exceptional” and offered “great attention to deal,” wrote a guest named Josh, who checked the “great bargain” box for the question about the cost of food and drink.

“Great food, love the restaurant.

I’ll be back,” stated Tanya of Milwaukee.

Marion, who came to Cafe La Scala for breakfast, rated the food and service as “excellent.”

“Patrick’s a gem,” wrote Sarah.

“Hands down, the best servers I’ve ever had.”

Many diners indicated they heard about Cafe La Scala’s new menu and expanded hours in The Italian Times and through the recommendations of others who had been to the restaurant.

ICC seeks volunteers to represent Festa at Channel 10 Auction

By Tony Piacentini The Italian Community Center is looking for volunteers to represent Festa Italiana at the Channel 10 Great TV Auction on Saturday, Apr. 26.

Along with all of the other ethnic festivals, Festa is donating ticket packages for the auction as part of the United Ethnic Festivals sponsorship. By combining these donations, UEF will be a major Channel 10 sponsor this year. In return, UEF will be highlighted throughout the telecast.

Each ethnic festival is expected to have volunteers on hand during the auction telecast. We will give you a Festa shirt to wear. Your job will be to answer phones and enter bids into a computer. If you volunteer to be a

table captain, you will be introduced on air.

We’re looking for five to seven volunteers. The shift would be from 6:30 p.m. until close (right after midnight). If interested, please contact the Festa office at 414-223-2808.

The auction site address is 11100 W. Burleigh St., Wauwatosa.

Volunteers should however park their vehicles in a lot at 12560 W. Townsend St., Brookfield. A shuttle service will be running from the lot to the auction site throughout the event. Make your Mother’s Day dining plans at the ICC Brunch is open to everyone; pre-paid reservations required Treat your “mamma” to a special Mother’s Day treat by taking her and the rest of your “famiglia” to the Italian Community Center for an all-you-can-eat brunch.

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11.

Brunch prices are $24.95 for adults. For children, under the age of 12, the charge is $14.95 for each child. Pre-paid reservations are required.

The ICC is taking reservations on the half-hour starting at 10:30 a.m. with the last reservations taken for the seating at 2:30 p.m.

Please call 414/223-2180 with your credit card handy to reserve your time and table. You can also sign up for the brunch by stopping in at the ICC reception desk on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Business Manager Patrick Morgan said earliest time slots (between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.) generally fill the quickest, “so if you are interested in one of those slots, I suggest that you get your reservations in early.”

About the artists Gerry is an award-winning local acrylic artist. Her recent series fea-

tures juveniles enjoying the outdoors, “gleefully free from technology.” Her soft image paintings, inspired by early family photos, express life’s jubilance. Her work was in solo and juried shows in Milwaukee County and in Door County.

Gerry’s figure drawing training at the Layton School of Art led her to a fashion illustrator’s job at Gimbel’s Department Store. That experience and a Master of Art degree qualified her for a graphics art instructor’s position at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, where, she said she “happily” was employed three decades.

Angeles. She returned home to Milwaukee and has worked professionally as an artist since then. Her paintings and sculpture can be seen in art galleries around the Milwaukee area.

There are four paintings in the galleria at the Italian Community Center depicting four figures from the Sistine Chapel that Laura painted in 2005. Her recent “Eating Series” paintings display technical skills with “tongue-incheek” subject matter ever present.

Pietro Tarantino offers help to Italian citizens Pietro Tarantino, a longtime member and past board member of the Italian Community Center, is offering free assistance to members of Wisconsin’s Italian community on matters involving the Italian government. Tarantino will be at the ICC on the first Saturday of the month from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Tarantino is a member of Comites (Comitato degli Italiani all’estero) and a liaison to the Italian General Consulate of Chicago.

Among the matters for which Tarantino can provide assistance are visas and passports, power of attorney, verification of signatures, documents relating to death certificates and declarations dealing with citizenship, civil status and pensions.

ICC’s ‘Cure for Cabin Fever Music Series’ drawing to a close

By Thomas Hemman Times Editor The Italian Community Center’s “Cure for Cabin Fever Music Series” was initiated three years ago to provide music fans with an opportunity to get out of their houses and break away from a long cold, dreary winter to enjoy free weeknight music concerts presented by popular local artists and bands.

After a brutal winter like the one we’ve just completed, the availability of these “no cover-no drink minimum” shows sure seemed to be what was needed for many music fans. This season’s “Cure for Cabin Fever Music Series” has drawn good, enthusiastic crowds on most Tuesday jazz or blues nights and Thursday rock-and-roll nights.

While spring might finally be here, the series is still going strong, at least for three more nights.

A sign of summer: ICC’s Courtyard Music Series to start June 2 from page 1 While everyone at the ICC is hoping and praying for lots of beautiful summer nights, on those evenings when the weather is inclement, the shows are moved indoors to the Festa Ballroom.

Whether the shows take place in the courtyard or in Festa Ballroom, the staff of Cafe La Scala, the ICC’s public restaurant, will be on hand to take food and drink orders starting at 5 p.m.

Since many of the shows in the series are expected to sell out, it is highly recommended that people interested in attending make a reservation. Simply call 414-2232185.

Campagna noted that this year’s schedule has been tweaked slightly.

“We’ve made Wednesday our variety night,” he said. “Each Wednesday night a different genre of music will be presented, from opera and Broadway to big band and Vegas style shows.”

The series will continue to feature jazz artists on Monday, blues bands on Tuesday and good-time rock-and-rollers on Thursday from June through August. In September, the Tuesday night schedule will showcase either a jazz group or a blues band. Rock and roll bands continue to play on Thursday nights.

Tom Sorce, a revered versatile guitarist and producer of quality music for over 40 years, lined up the entertainment for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights and a good share of the Wednesday night lineup. Longtime ICC member Sal Quarino called upon the able assistance of Kay Sparling, a Metropolitan Opera soprano and owner of a Jefferson, Wisconsin conservatory for young performing artists, to enlist the talent for six of the Wednesday night shows.

Winter bocce championship goes to Porticello Porticello, the first-place finisher in the Monday night bocce league, won the Italian Community Center’s winter championship, fending off three opponents in the playoffs on Mar. 17.

In the title match, Porticello cruised past Paesani, Thursday afternoon’s first-place team, 12-2.

Each player on the Porticello team – Mario Orlando, Bob Schneider, Tony LoCoco and Vince Corrao – received a $15 Cafe La Scala gift certificate. Players on Paesani were given a $5 La Scala certificate.

To qualify for the championship game, Porticello won its opening round match against Tom T’s Ballers (runner-up in the Thursday night league), 12-6, and a nail-biting semi-final victory over Club Garibaldi (Wednesday night’s firstplace finisher), 12-11.

Paesani made it to the title match by scoring earlier round wins over The Swingers (Tuesday afternoon’s runner-up), 12-8, and Felice Amici (Tuesday afternoon’s

first-place finisher), 12-6.

Club Garibaldi won its opener, 12-6, over Tarantino’s Handy Cappers (Thursday night’s firstplace finisher). Felice Amici defeated Como Si Chiama (Thursday afternoon runner-up), 12-7 in its quarterfinal match.

Porticello entered the playoffs with a 20-4 record. The records of the other playoff teams were: Tom T’s Ballers: 15-6, Club Garibaldi: 19-5, Tarantino’s Handy Cappers: 15-6, Paesani: 20-4, The Swingers: 15-9, Felice Amici: 18-6, and Como Si Chiama: 17-7.

Festa Italiana to showcase Lombardy region of Italy The Italian region of Lombardia (Lombardy in English) will be showcased in the regional exhibit at Festa Italiana, according to Christina Ziino, the exhibit manager and chairperson of the Italian Community Center Culture Committee.

The 37th annual Festa Italiana will take place Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20 at Henry W. Maier Festival Park (Summerfest grounds).

Lombardy is Italy’s most populous region with more than 9.8 million people and is one of Europe’s richest based on the market value of all goods and services produced there.

A sixth of Italy’s population lives in Lombardy and about a fifth of the country’s gross domestic product is produced there.

Milan – with 1.316 million residents – is the capitol of the region and is the main industrial, commercial and financial center of Italy and a leading global city.

Lombardy is bordered by Switzerland (on the north) and by the Italian regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto (east), EmiliaRomagna (south) and Piedmont (west). Fr. Tim Kitzke to lead Festa Mass The Festa Italiana Mass and Procession Committee announced that the Very Rev. Timothy L. Kitzke will serve as the Main Celebrant of the 2014 Festa Mass on Sunday morning, July 20.

Fr. Tim, as many know him, is celebrating his 25th anniversary as an ordained priest and his 15th year of priestly service at Three Holy Women Parish. He has served as chaplain of the Italian Community Center for 14 years.

Born in South Milwaukee to the late Leo and the late Mary Ann Kitzke, Fr. Tim completed his priestly training at St. Francis Seminary, Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium.

He was ordained in 1989. Since then, he has served at St. Roman Parish, Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, Holy Family Parish, St. Hedwig, St. Rita and Old St. Mary’s Parish. In 1999, he was assigned to bring together three lower east side Milwaukee Catholic Churches – Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, St. Hedwig and St. Rita – to form Three Holy Women

Fr. Tim and Fr. Mike Michalski are now co-pastors of Three Holy Women Parish, Old St. Mary, Our Lady of Divine Providence and Sts. Peter and Paul. Fr. Tim also serves as dean of District 13 of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Festa Mass Committee seeking donations to July 20 celebration The Festa Italiana Mass and Procession Committee has issued its annual plea for donations to offset the cost of the religious celebration on Sunday, July 20.

“We’re extremely grateful and appreciative of the support we have received from the sponsors of the Mass and procession over the last several years,” said committee co-chairs Vivian Balistreri and Sal Lo Coco. “It is a very costly undertaking to convert the Marcus Amphitheater from a concert venue into a place of worship.”

“For the last several years, a number of people have stepped forward with individual donations to help defray those costs, and we hope that people will be similarly moved this year,” the co-chairs said.

Every year, the overnight transformation of the Amphitheater is accomplished successfully by the Mass Committee, as evidenced by com-

ments received on a regular basis from people – including visiting clergy – who attend the Mass for the first time.

The Mass and the traditional procession that follows have, since the beginning, been an essential component of Festa Italiana.

Festa itself is an outgrowth of the street festivals held at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church to honor patron saints.

Seeking singers for Festa Mass Choir Singers wishing to join their voices to this year’s Festa Choir will be rehearsing at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 5400 W. Washington Blvd., Milwaukee (phone: 414-453-1061). Rehearsals will last 90 minutes and music will be provided. Some hymns will be sung in Italian and Latin, but no previous knowledge of either language is necessary as Dr. Marisa Gatti-Taylor will be providing language coaching.

The mixed chorus is open to all voice parts – soprano, alto, tenor and bass. No auditions are necessary; however, Maestro Michael Kamenski requests that singers

19th annual ‘Taste of Italy’ was a wonderful success thanks to donors, volunteers and ICC staff, Chairperson Ann Romano reports The Italian Community Center’s 19th annual “A Taste of Italy” on Sunday, Apr. 6 proved to be an enjoyable and successful event. All of this is due to the magnificent effort put forth by so many individuals, societies, clubs, donors and the ICC staff.

With so many people, groups and businesses participating, it’s impossible to thank everyone individually. I can assure you, however, that this fund-raising event could not have been done with the high degree of success without you. All of your efforts are truly appreciated.

I want to extend a big thank you to ICC Business Manager Patrick Morgan, Assistant Business Manager Laurie Bisesi, Chefs Roberto Garcia and Gustavo Teran and their staff, Times Editor Tom Hemman and ICC Executive Administrative Assistant Constance Jones.

Roberto and Gustavo are excellent to work with, and Tom Hemman does a wonderful job promoting the event in our newspaper and by getting the word out to other publications and television stations.

We were given two opportunities to promote “A Taste of Italy” on local television stations. I want to acknowledge Kim Murphy of WITITV (Fox 6) for making time available on Friday, Apr. 4 and Tom Murray of WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) for allowing us airtime on the morning of the event. My thanks to our Vice President Joe Vella for accompanying me to Fox 6 and to Joe and Bill Jennaro for going to Channel 4.

These volunteers – Sophia Michalovitz (left) and Anna Pitzo – are regular contributors to the success of “A Taste of Italy.” Year after year, they make and donate all of the manicotti that is sold at the event. Between the two, they made 1,280 manicotti for this year’s event.

Giovanni Frijia was one of the volunteers in charge of deep frying the calamari (squid) in the ICC kitchen.

Sal and Antonette Lo Coco were among the volunteers who sold food and beverage tickets to Taste of Italy guests in the Festa Ballroom. A book of seven tickets costs $10. Single tickets were $1.50 each.

The Italian Community Center’s Nonno Charles Evans displayed his musical abilities, singing Italian songs with the accompaniment of Galina Gerakosov. Charlie and his wife, Doris, were honored as the Nonno and Nonna (Royal Grandparents) at the organization’s Il Grande Carnevale this past February. This was his fourth consecutive singing appearance at “A Taste of Italy.”

By Susie Christiansen Social networking websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as email and cell phone texting, are currently the most common methods of communicating for people. Using those avenues, we want to develop a way to reach out to our membership to inform you about upcoming events organized by the Italian Community Center, such as Il Grande Carnevale, A Taste of Italy and Festa Italiana.

We can even email you a copy of The Italian Times.

When the ICC hosts wine tastings, musical events and cooking classes, it would be helpful to everyone involved to be able to send an e-mail blast or a cell phone text blast to ICC members and as many non-members as possible. Right now, committee chairs and event planners here don’t always know what advertising options are available to them and how to reach out to you. Without spending a ton of money, we just aren’t sure how to let the people out there know about upcoming events at the ICC. ICC members can be placed on an e-mail list and a cell phone list when they sign up for or renew their membership. Our application includes a place for your e-mail address and cell phone number.

Our membership contact list is extremely private, and we will continue to keep it that way. We do not distribute our address, phone or e-mail lists to anyone. Rest assured your contact information will be retained by the ICC and only the ICC, and you will only be sent messages on a limited basis.

We simply want to inform you. We want to tell you about the fantastic events, activities and ethnic experiences that the Italian Community Center has to offer.

Many to thank for a wonderful St. Joseph’s Day luncheon celebration, chairperson Mary Winard says A sincere and big thank you goes out to all the attendees of the 2014 St. Joseph’s Day luncheon on

March 19th at the Italian Community Center. It was great to see our loyal friends from Illinois,

ICC Chaplain Father Timothy Kitzke sprinkled Holy Water on all of the luncheon attendees after blessing the St. Joseph’s Altar.

Racine and other areas outside Milwaukee County returning again this year.

On hand and welcoming everyone to the celebration was ICC President Gina Spang, who introduced ICC Chaplain Father Tim Kitzke. He honored us with his blessing of before the serving of the meal. Father Tim, as many of you know, is the co-pastor of Three Holy Women Parish, Old St. Mary, Our Lady of Divine Providence and Sts. Peter and Paul. . He also blessed the bags of fruit and bread that were given out to all present and invited Father Thomas Refermat, a guest of Dr. Joseph Musso, D.D.S., of Illinois, to join him in blessing everyone at their tables. It was a real treat to have Father Tim on this special day.

It is greatly appreciated that the ICC Board and Business Manager Patrick Morgan have allowed us to continue the St. Joseph’s Day luncheon, which was celebrated this year for the 22nd time. I want to thank Patrick for enabling our members and guests to enjoy the plentiful and meatless meal, cooked and served by a very accommodating chef and staff of personnel.

Kudos to Assistant Business Manager Laurie Bisesi for her kind and accommodating assistance as always.

It was gratifying to have present members of our various organizations (i.e., Pompeii Women’s Club, Pompeii Men’s Club, Milwaukee Chapter UNICO National, Ladies of UNICO), and Frank Schiro, a past president of the Filippo Mazzei Milwaukee Area Lodge of the Order Sons of Italy in America and first vice president of the Illinois/Wisconsin Grand Lodge of the OSIA. As in the past, my thanks to committee member Peggy Zoet, who beautifully and tastefully decorated the St. Joseph’s Day altar.

Thanks also to my other committee members vice chair Anna Skoczynski, Antonina Carini and Rosemary Joecks.

I want to extend my appreciation to Pauline Cannestra for her monetary donation, which was not listed in the printed program, and to John Puchner, for volunteering to play the beautiful Italian melodies during the luncheon.

Joe Dentice, Sam Purpero and Reina International Auto to be honored by OSIA Grand Lodge of Illinois and Wisconsin on May 4

By Thomas Hemman Times Editor The Order Sons of Italy in America Grand Lodge of Illinois and Wisconsin will recognize Joseph “Joe” Dentice, Sam Purpero and Reina International Auto at its Leonardo da Vinci Awards of Excellence banquet on Sunday, May 4 at the Beau Jolie by Victoria, 9950 Lawrence Ave., Schiller, Ill. The event, which is open to the public, begins at noon with a luncheon buffet. The cost is $65 per person. Reservations must be made by calling 708-403-7822.

Dentice, a past vice president of the Italian Community Center, and Purpero, a past ICC president and the organization’s current treasurer, will receive “Community Leadership” awards. Reina International Auto, owned by Joe, Lorenzo and Ignazio Reina, will be recognized with the “Business of Distinction” award. The Reina brothers have a long history of participation in the ICC and Festa Italiana.

Joe Dentice Dentice was born in Sant’Elia, Sicily, the second oldest of seven children. He was educated at La Scuola Elementaria, Il Ginnansio/La Scuola Media and Lo Instituto Salesiano Don Bosco in Palermo, Sicily. In 1947, after the conclusion of World War II, Joe and his family emigrated to the United States, settling in Milwaukee.

After learning the trade from his father, Dentice spent his entire working career in the produce business. He retired after spending 42 years as owner and operator of Joe Dentice Produce Co. Throughout his life, Dentice has dedicated countless hours to service in the community, most notably the Italian community. He has been a member of the Italian Community Center since its inception in 1978.

As a member, he has served several terms as a director-at-large and vice president. He also is a longtime member of the Festa Italiana Mass and Procession Committee where, in the past, he has been committee chair and co-chair. In his role as the committee chair, he brought four Italian Cardinals and two Archbishops to Festa as celebrants of the Mass.

Dentice currently serves as a trustee on the council of the OSIA Grand Lodge of Illinois and Wisconsin.

When looking to relax, Dentice enjoys attending or listening to opera. However, much of his spare time involves soccer. He is what many consider an avid soccer fan.

Since 1962, Dentice, along with his late wife, Dora, attended World Cup Soccer Tournaments in Chile, Argentina, Spain, Germany, Italy, Mexico and the U.S. He is a founding member of the Italian Soccer Club of Milwaukee, which later became the Verdi Sport Club. He regularly takes in several games from Europe on his satellite television.

Dentice also loves to spend time with his extended family and many friends around the world.

Sam Purpero Since the inception of the ICC, Purpero has served on the ICC Board for all but two years, holding

the positions of president (1982-83), president-elect, first vice president, treasurer and director-at-large. He is in the midst of his fifth consecutive term as treasurer.

His active participation in Festa Italiana goes back to the initial planning stages for the first Festa. which was held Aug. 4-6, 1978 on the Summerfest grounds. Since then, Purpero has been heavily involved in the festival from a managerial standpoint, from serving as general chairman to gate control manager and bank chairman. He has long been on the Festa Steering Committee and Festa Advisory Committee and, for the last few years, has served as chairman of the Festa Food Committee.

An original member of the Pompeii Men’s Club, Purpero was the third president of that organization, which evolved from the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Pompeii Church after the church’s demolition in October 1967. He is also a longtime member of the Milwaukee Chapter UNICO National.

Born and raised at 210 N. Jefferson St., in Milwaukee’s old Third Ward, Purpero graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953.

His parents were the late Charles W. and Rosalia (Emanuele) Purpero.

After graduating, he went to work at C.W. Purpero, Inc., initially a trucking business started in 1910 by his father. In 1948, the company added residential and business excavation services.

Sam spent 55 years in the business. He became certified as an operating engineer and went on to become president and chairman of the board of C.W. Purpero, Inc. After Sam’s retirement, his son, Phillip, succeeded him as president.

Sam is still the chairman of the board. Today, the company has evolved, becoming a well known grading, sewer and water and demolition contractor and has received State of Wisconsin recognition for its safe environmental practices.

In 1984, Purpero bought King Juice Company, Inc., which is run by his son-in-law Tim Kezman and his daughter Margaret.

Although he’s officially retired, Purpero remains actively involved in both C.W. Purpero and King Juice. Through his personal commitment and his businesses, Purpero has long been a dedicated supporter and contributor to charitable and civic causes for the Italian American community.

Possibly his largest commitment has been to the ICC and Festa Italiana, for which he has given of his time, talent and financial resources. He has had a pivotal role in virtually every major development of the ICC and Festa since the inception of both.

Reina International Auto In 1970 Lorenzo, Ignazio, and Joe Reina came to Milwaukee from Santo Stefano Quisquina, near Agrigento (Sicily), with their parents Carmela and Filippo and younger sister Maria. They started working on Italian cars and scooters at very young ages in the repair shop in their hometown in Sicily and came to the United States to pursue their passion for vehicle sales and service.

When they arrived in the U.S., they worked at Frascona Buick and Fiat, until 1980 when they opened Reina International Auto, a full service and sales dealership specializing in new Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Bertone, Lancia and preowned Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Customer satisfaction is their top priority and their love for cars and motorcycles has fueled the growth of their business.

In 2001, Reina International Auto acquired the Vespa, Piaggio and Moto Guzzi franchise for Southeastern Wisconsin.

Throughout the years, the Reina brothers have been active in the Sports Car Club of America and racing Alfa Romeos.

The Reina family has long been an active supporter of the ICC and has participated in many activities including “A Taste of Italy” and “Il Grande Carnevale.” Reina has been an exhibitor at Festa Italiana since 1981 and has often provided a

Vespa for the festival’s raffle on numerous occasions.

Joe and his wife, Mary, were honored by the ICC as Carnevale’s King and Queen in 2009. The Reina family was recognized by ICC President Gina Spang at the organization’s 2012 installation dinner.

Reina Internal Auto is also active in various charitable organizations such as Make a Wish Foundation and The National Italian Golf Invitational. They have served as sponsors of The Milwaukee Wave Soccer team.

Every year they host the Italian Car and Motorcycle Show in collaboration with the Alfa Romeo Club of Wisconsin.

Lorenzo, Ignazio and Joe Reina have run Reina International Auto for over 33 years and the business continues to be family owned and operated. They are proud of their Italian heritage and culture and grateful for the life they have created in the United States.

Honorees announced for Sons of Italy Foundation gala The Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF) has announced its honorees for its 26th annual National Education & Leadership Awards Gala on Thursday, May 22 in Washington, D.C. The honorees include retired

United States Senator Christopher J. Dodd, U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Flora Darpino and Harry Lombardo, International President of the Transport Workers Union of America.

Edith Brown to receive UNICO Ladies’ Star Award The Milwaukee Ladies of UNICO will bestow their Star Award on Edith Brown on Tuesday, May 20 at the UNICO Scholarship and Awards banquet at the Italian Community Center.

The Star Award was established in 1995 by the Ladies of UNICO to honor an outstanding member for her dedication to the organization.

Brown is a 36-year member of

the Ladies of UNICO and has held several positions in the organization. She has been the historian for the organization the past six years and will hold this position for the next two years. In preparation for the organization’s 50th anniversary celebration, she created story boards which highlighted the history of the Ladies of UNICO. Brown is also a past chairperson

OSIA Filippo Mazzei Lodge hosting family-style golf outing June 22 The Filippo Mazzei Greater Milwaukee Lodge 2763 of the Order Sons of Italy in America is hosting a family-style golf outing at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva on Sunday, June 22.

A golf package for $110 includes golf, cart, lunch and dinner with complimentary driving range privileges and the availability of a pro to access your swing. No registrations will be accepted the day of the event.

Non-golfers can enjoy a free pool pass. Dinner and lunch for nongolfing adults is $35 while for children, under 12, the cost is $20. Spa amenities and indoor water park are also available for purchase.

Registrations for the golf package must be made by Saturday, June 6. Checks are payable to OSIA and must be mailed to Vince Carini, 3045 N. 186th St., Brookfield, WI 53045. Please indicate the names and phone numbers of golfers and whether you have a foursome. Golfers who register with few players will be placed on a team by the organizers. Also

Madonna del Lume Men announce new officers, board members for the next year Società Maschile Maria S.S. Del Lume has announced its new officers and board members for the next year.

The officers are: Luigi Vella as president, Mariano Carini as vice president, Sal G. Lococo as treasurer and Sal Cannizzo as sergeant-at-arms.

Pompeii Men co-sponsoring 32nd Super Run/Walk The Pompeii Men’s Club and the Badgerland Striders will team up to stage their 32nd annual 5K (3.1 mile) Super Run/Walk on Wednesday, June 11 at Lake Park.

Pre-registration forms are available at several Milwaukee area running stores or you can download a registration form at http://www.badgerlandstriders.org/ home.htm.

Race day registration will begin at 5 p.m. in the park’s pavilion and will continue until 6:30 p.m. Start time is 7 p.m.

“You can join the fun by either running or walking the 3.1 mile course,” said Charles Lazzaro, Pompeii Men’s Club President. “It will be good for you, and at the same time, you will be helping local Milwaukee charities.”

The event has averaged approximately 800 participants and has become known as one of Milwaukee’s premier run/walks.

Brown’s professional career Brown has a master’s degree in social work and is licensed by the Academy of Certified Social Workers and by the State of Wisconsin as a School School Social Worker. She has worked for the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County and as a medical social worker for 12 years at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She was the first woman in charge of children protection services in Milwaukee County.

During her professional career, Brown served as chairperson of the Milwaukee County Child Abuse and Neglect Task Force and the Milwaukee Boys and Girls Club Advisory Council. She was a presenter on the topic of medical social work at the first Medical Social Work Conference, sponsored by the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center and Project HOPE in Shanghai, China in December 2003.

Over the years, Brown has received numerous professional recognitions including an “Outstanding Service Award” from the American Society for Public Administration, a “Woman of the Year Award” from the American Business Women’s Association, an “Outstanding Community Service Award” from Milwaukee County and “Exceptional Volunteer Award” from the Milwaukee Boys and Girls Club.

By George Koleas One definition of “legacy” is: something handed down or received from an ancestor or predecessor. How do you leave a legacy? Most people only think of a legacy as the money or property you will pass on. Is your money or property the only thing you want remembered about you or your family?

There are other ways you can pass down a lasting legacy, not just to the next generations but to future generations.

Write a letter to your family giving them your guidance for the future. What lessons have you learned during your life? Write down the lessons that were passed on to you by your parents and grandparents. Write those lessons down.

Write down your memories. There are many opportunities throughout the year when different historical and family events are celebrated and remembered. These celebrations and events present great opportunities to write out your personal feelings and memories of these events and how they affected you.

Did you or a family member serve in World War II or more recently? Did you grow up during World War II, or the Korean War or during the Vietnam conflict?

What was life like during those wars? Where were you when President Kennedy was assassinated? How did that make you feel? What did you see happening around you? Honorees announced for Sons of Italy Foundation gala from page 15 Dodd, a longtime U.S. Senator from Connecticut, will receive the SIF’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Public Service. Darpino will be given the organization’s Special Award for Military Service.

Lombardo will be the recipient of SIF’s Humanitarian Award.

SIF will also recognize its national scholarship recipients at the gala, which serves as a fundraiser. To date, the gala has helped SIF raise $127 million for education, medical research, disaster

relief, cultural preservation and other special projects, with more than $51 million in scholarships awarded.

Joe Mantegna, the award-winning actor of stage and screen, will serve as the gala’s master of ceremonies.

Golembiewskis celebrate 50th anniversary Italian Community Center members Kathleen and Jerry Golembiewski celebrated their golden anniversary on Friday, Apr. 11. The couple is marking the occasion with a tour of England and Scotland.

They report that they have been blessed with three children, Gus (LeAnn Kazmer), Toby (Jodi Wolfe) and Jessica Halling (Bradley) plus five grandchildren Alex, Jenna, Max, Sophie and Zach.

Festa cinema tent co-managers Sal Strehlow and Rachel Anderson to wed June 21 Italian Community Center members Maria and Todd Strehlow announced that their son, Salvatore “Sal,” and Rachel Anderson will be married Saturday, June 21 in Mequon.

Sal and Rachel have been comanagers of Festa Italiana’s Cinema Tent with Ann Zambito the last few years.

Both Sal and Rachel are very active in the University of Wisconsin business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. They are big fans of Milwaukee and are members of Fund Milwaukee.

Maria Strehlow reports that Sal is very proud of his Italian heritage, having been raised by his nonna and nonno, Maria and Giuseppe LoCoco, after she went

into the workforce. Sal and Rachel plan on incorporating some Italian traditions into their wedding.

Sal is a 2001 graduate of Homestead High School, where he was senior class president. He went on to the University of WisconsinMilwaukee, where he earned a bachelor of business degree in finance and real estate. He is employed at WFA Staffing Group as an executive recruiter and social media strategist.

Rachel graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and is working toward a master’s degree in media studies.

She is currently a teaching assistant in the university’s journalism department.

Mary Prioletta, longtime ICC member, dies at 98 Mary Prioletta, aunt of Ann Romano and four generations of nieces and nephews, passed away peacefully on Mar. 15 at the age of 98.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1915.

While Mary was never a mother, she was a “super aunt to all her nieces and nephews,” Romano said.

Mary was a longtime member of the Italian Community Center and a hard working volunteer for both the ICC and Festa Italiana. For many years, she volunteered with her sister, the late Santa Patti, for all the events Romano coordinated or participated in, going back to the days when the organization owned a building on Hackett Avenue on Milwaukee’s East Side. Her volunteer activities included Festa’s volunteer food tent (27 years), the ICC’s “A Taste of Italy,” seniors’ luncheons, children’s parties, and decorating the ICC for holidays and special events.

Many people recall Mary wearing her apron and always having a smile, Romano said. “She loved to be involved and met a lot of super people. When she knew I was going

Keep a journal. Start by writing down your thoughts. I visited Ellis Island.

That visit generated many thoughts and feelings about my ancestors. Where did you go? What did you do? What were your thoughts and feelings?

Start scrapbooking. Make a record of those memorable parts of your life.

Document family events such as births, baptisms, confirmations, special celebrations, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, memorials and deaths.

Organize your family photos. Put together a family album. Put the pictures in historical order or by events, but remember to record when pictures were taken and who is in the picture. If you were married, get out your wedding album and identify who all the people in the pictures are and how they are related, or if they were close friends.

Make a family recipe book. Compile those favorite recipes from your family into a book. Remember to document who wrote the recipe, when those recipes were used, what family dinners and holiday gatherings were like, and which family members would attend those gatherings.

Compile a family history. Start with yourself and go back as far as you can.

Who were your parents, grandparents and great grandparents? Do you have uncles, aunts and cousins? From where did they come? When did they come here?

Why did they choose to come here and how did they decide to come here? Are there any relatives that still live in their hometown or village in Italy?

Spotlight on Cultural Arts Award-winning films set for Italian Film Festival April 25-27 at UWM Union Theater

By Paul Salsini In Buongiorno Papa (Out of the Blue), a 40-year-old man who works in the film industry is surprised when a 17-year-old girl turns up claiming to be his daughter. In Gli equilibristi (Balancing Act), a municipal employee makes a critical error that causes everything to unravel. In Reality, a fish market vendor changes his life in his desire to be on the Italian version of Big Brother.

These are just a few of the award-winning and highly praised films set to be shown in the 2014 edition of the Italian Film Festival on April 25-27 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union Theater. As always, admission is entirely free and everyone is invited to attend.

The Italian Film Festival began in Milwaukee in 2007 and is now one of 11 such festivals around the country. All the films are in Italian with English subtitles.

Here is the lineup for this year.

Friday, April 25: 7 p.m. Il rosso e il blu (The Red and the Blue). Directed by Giuseppe Piccioni, comedy. Set against the background of a Roman school are the stories of an art history professor who has lost his passion for the job, a young substitute who is trying to save a rebel student and a stern headmistress who is forced to deal with a student who has been forgotten by his mother.

Stars include Margherita Buy, Riccardo Scamarcio and Roberto Herlitzka.

The Italian Community Center is serving as the sponsor of Il rosso e il blu.

9 p.m. Viva la liberta (Long Live Freedom). Directed by Roberto Ando, drama. The leader of an important opposition party mysteriously disappears. His wife and assistant turn to his identical twin brother, who was recently released from a psychiatric hospital. Will anyone notice? The film won the Nastro d’Argento for Best Screenplay, the David di Donatello Award for Best Script and the

David di Donatello for Best Supporting Actor for Valerio Mastandrea.

Saturday, April 26: 5 p.m. Buongiorno Papa (Out of the Blue). Directed by Edoardo Leo, comedy. A ladies man with a skyrocketing career returns home to find Layla, a 17-year-old who claims to be his daughter. She is not alone. There’s also her grandfather and they have come to stay!

Stars Raoul Bova, Antonino Bruschetta and Giorgio Colangeli.

7 p.m. Reality. Directed by Matteo Garrone, comedy. Luciano never misses a chance to perform for his fish market customers. At the urging of his family, he auditions for the reality show Big Brother and from that moment his perception of reality is never the same. The film was nominated for the Palme d’Or and won the Grand Prix at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

9:15 p.m. Gli equilibristi (Balancing Act). Directed by Ivano De Matteo, drama. Giulio leads a seemingly idyllic life with his wife

and two children. But he makes a critical error that causes everything to unravel and he discovers how thin the line truly is between well-being and poverty. Valerior Mastrandrea won the 2013 David di Donatello Award for Best Actor.

Sunday, April 27: 5 p.m. Teorema Venezia (The Venice Syndrome). Directed by Andreas Pichler, documentary.

Venice, the world’s most beautiful city, is invaded every day by 50,000 tourists. There are only 48,000 residents, and there are fewer every year as the city is becoming more uninhabitable. The film shows what remains of Venetian life. A Requiem for a still grand city.

7 p.m. Bianca come il latte, rosso come il sangue (White Like Milk, Red Like Blood). Directed by Giocomo Campiotti, drama. Leo is a typical 16-year-old who loves to ride his scooter and play soccer but finds school agonizing. Then a new teacher encourages him to follow his dreams, which includes a fellow red-haired student.

L’Angolo del Poeta

By Barbara Collignon and Roberto Ciampi Robert Frost once penned, “A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness.” But Rumi says it best, “All language is a longing for home”.

There is a common thread among these definitions of poetry: missing something, longing for something, finding it in images that relate the everyday to the eternal.

Rumi’s definition is particularly poignant since home can mean so many things, an actual house, the home where we were raised, that place of comfort where we now live, home as the original seat of the soul, a heavenly home.

One doesn’t have to go far to find poetry that evokes longing for the childhood home. Here’s a lovely poem by Achille Campanile where falling rain does just that.

La pioggia Con che dolcezza i primi anni rammento E i miei trastulli e il mio paterno tetto Sporgendo il volto a questo vivo e schietto Odor di pioggia che mi porta il vento!

Riveggo il padre mio sui libri intento, Dorato dal chiaror del caminetto, E risento dal piccolo mio letto Delle lunghe notturne acque il lamento.

– Translation by Barbara Collignon Campanile (1899 -1977) was a journalist for many Italian dailies, a playwright and successful TV commentator for L’Europeo. Twice he was awarded the Viareggio Prize: once in 1933 and again 40 years later. His plays reflect life in the ‘20’s and ‘30’s and he is famous for his passion for puns and word play. There’s a hilarious example of this kind of repartee in a routine between a waiter and a client who orders acqua minerale, the waiter replying “naturale.” They go around and around playing off naturale (naturalmente). You can enjoy it on YouTube if you’re up on your Italian. Dapper in his prime in smart suits and a monocle, Campanile abandoned this manner of dress in his retirement years and grew a long beard that made him look like an old patriarch.

Here’s another poem by Campanile. Unless you are from the region of Campania, you might be stumped by the term la mefite or mephitis. An explanation (thanks to Wikipedia) follows the poem and enlightens us about a fascinating tradition that is totally Italian.

– Translation by Roberto Ciampi In Roman mythology, Mefitis (or Mephitis; Mefite in Italian) was the late personification of the poisonous gases emitted from the ground in swamps and volcanic vapors. “Mephitic,” derived from Mefitis, is now an adjective in the English language meaning “offensive in odor”; “noxious”; and “poisonous.”

In Italian, a mefite is also a solfatara or fumarole (i.e., a gaseous fissure) associated with the italic Goddess Mefitis. The feature giving rise to this term, the Solfatara volcano, is located in Italy along the Appian Way between Rome and Brindisi. There, the ancient Romans would rest on their travels and pay homage to the goddess by performing animal sacrifices using the fissure’s deadly gases. Today, it lies near the village of Rocca San Felice in the province of Avellino (Campania region).

Opera Topics by Angelo Castronovo Times change and so do customs, and the use of particular words tend to get overused.

Examples of such words are “dude” and even more ubiquitously, the word “legendary.”

Almost every performer in modern times has been described as legendary to the point that use of the word has become ridiculous, which brings me to my main point.

There are some individuals where, in fact, the term would apply, but they are mostly fictional or historic such as King Arthur and Merlin the Magician. Others that come to mind are Gulliver and Robinson Crusoe, etc. You get the idea.

Yet, there are some actual per-

sons to which the word could, justifiably, fit the description because of their exploits in their chosen field, in this case, opera.

Several names come to mind immediately: tenor Enrico Caruso, basso Fyodor Chaliapin, sopranos Maria Callas, Toti Dal Monte, Licia Albanese, and conductor Arturo Toscanini.

Truly, these artists and their respective careers come under the umbrella of that word. And there are so many more which include the illustrious names of many composers. The list is almost endless and must contain Donizetti, Puccini, Verdi, Handel and Berlioz, to name a few. Some wrote only one

Carini will deposit the yearbooks and memorabilia at the Milwaukee County Historical Society after he completes his research.

“These can be yearbooks and memorabilia from public, Catholic or private high schools,” Carini said.

Copies of vintage photos displayed at ICC or Festa available through Milwaukee County Historical Society Persons interested in acquiring a copy of any of the vintage Italian American photographs that are displayed throughout the year at the Italian Community Center or during the four days of Festa Italiana must contact the Milwaukee County Historical Society (MCHS) to obtain the photo, ICC Historian Mario A. Carini announced.

“The Historical Society is the keeper of all of the negatives,” Carini said, who donated a massive collection of artifacts, photos and other memorabilia to the society on behalf of the ICC and the early Italian immigrants in 2010.

Caruso and Callas in reality are in a class by themselves with their highly distinctive personalities and performance qualities and repertoires.

Callas was a sometimes controversial vocalist, performing many standard roles in opera and reviving many forgotten operas requiring her superb coloratura abilities.

Caruso’s career, mainly associated with New York’s Metropolitan Opera, created the leading tenor roles in Giordano’s Fedora, Cilea’s Adriana Lecoureur, and Franchetti’s Germania and excelled in both verismo and bel canto roles.

Toscanini not only conducted worldwide but also was a cellist who made a sensational debut at

Rio de Janeiro, conducting Aida from memory on Jan. 25, 1886. He has conducted the premieres of La Bohème, Fanciulla, Del West and Turandot. At La Scala, he introduced Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Gustave Charpentier and Claude DeBussy. He was a perfectionist and blessed with a prodigious memory. He often appeared ruthless.

Durante il convegno, i Rappresentanti delle Associazioni Locali di Chicago, quali la Sicilian American Cultural Association, la Società di San Biagio Platani, Santa Caterina di Villarmosa, Lercara Friddi, Società San Leoluca di Corleone, San Giovanni Bosco e S. Crocefisso di Cimina, Società di Casteldaccia, Caccamo, Cinisi, Alcamo, Termini Imerese, Bagheria, Burgio Club, Ribera, St Mary di Sambuca, si sono presentati incoraggiando l’iniziativa e gli obiettivi della CSNA. La serata è stata caratterizata da un magnifico Gala organizzato dall’ARSA e con titolo Sapori di Sicilia, più di 700 i presenti che hanno potuto godere di una vasta varieta’ di cibi tradizionali, musica e balli.

Information contained in the Milwaukee Marriage Index: 1926-1940 was compiled by this researcher in January of 1993 and will be featured in The Italian Times the next several months.

Reporting of the volume Milwaukee Marriage Index was obtained from the Milwaukee County Historical Society and copies at the City of Milwaukee Legislative Reference Bureau. These works are all copyrighted and an original copy is at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. for all time.

Victory School’s Italian Immersion Program update Ms. Jana Horntvedt’s K-4 classroom is working on weather and season vocabulary. They are making vocabulary books and practicing their Italian on the smartboard.

Mr. Tom Bruno, our K-5 teacher, is on an internship leave until the end of May. Subbing for him are Mr. Dennis Biel is co-teaching with Mrs. Kari Graziano until Mr. Bruno’s return.

Ms. Elizabeth Zizzo’s and Mrs. Justine Schwanz’s first graders went to the Milwaukee County Zoo to observe the animals. The students spent time using their map skills to find the animals. They had the opportunity to meet the baby gorilla, who was only a few days old. It has been 18 years since a baby gorilla was born at our zoo.

The experience at the zoo will prepare the first graders for their end of the year research project.

Ms. Annette Robertson’s second graders are studying “going green,” “sustainability” and “natural resource management” in Italian.

In the Sharp Literacy Program, the class is learning about a salmon’s journey through Lake Michigan and its upstream struggle in the Milwaukee River to complete its life cycle. In social studies, students are studying anti-bullying practices and designing “bully free zone” signs to post in the hallways.

Mr. Steven Falsetti’s third graders enjoyed a visit from Silvia Pline of the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University. Ms. Pline brought a portfolio of drawings from Pablo Picasso’s famous

painting, Guernica. Students discussed Picasso, Guernica, the inspiration behind the painting and the historic period of “Cubism”. Then, students created their own abstract and “cubist” drawings.

Mrs. Lydia Sutton is doing a great job as the substitute for Ms. Cathy Laurenzi, who is on maternity leave. Enzo Essex, Ms. Laurenzi’s son, is now one month old. The fourth graders are learning about the United Nations and its structure and functions. They will learn about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its importance through individual and group research presentations before the end of the school year.

The fifth grade students are learning about the American Revolution and art through the Sharp Literacy Program. They observed a presentation that included different artifacts such as a “redcoat” worn by the British Army. They have researched information and written poems that will be published by the program. In May they will have the opportunity to visit the Milwaukee Public Museum to further their knowledge of art and history.

Victory K-8 is on a national and international search for elementary certified Italian speaking teachers.

Italy’s observance of International Workers’ Day Italy is one of more than 80 countries worldwide that observes International Workers’ Day with a public holiday on May 1. The holiday is also known as May Day or Labor Day in Italy.

Generally, International Workers’ Day is a celebration of labor movements and left-wing movements, featuring street demonstrations and marches by working people and labor union members.

The first May Day celebration in Italy took place in 1890. It started initially as an attempt to celebrate workers’ achievements in their struggle for their rights and for better social and economic conditions. It was abolished under the

Fascist regime and restored after World War II. (During the fascist period, Festa del lavoro italiano, a festival of Italian labor, was held on Apr. 21).

In 1955, the Roman Catholic Church dedicated May 1 to “Saint Joseph the Worker.” St. Joseph the patron saint of workers, craftsmen and immigrants.

A major event in Italy is the Concerto del Primo Maggio (May 1 Concert), organized by Italian labor unions in Rome in Piazza San Giovanni. It is usually attended by more than 300,000 people and involves participation of many famous bands and songwriters. The concert is usually televised live by RAI Tre.
