The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) is a public institution within the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia that works for the development and consolidation of the cultural sector by incentivising companies and professionals to improve their competence and proficiency. It runs the different lines of support for production, promotion and exhibition for film & TV.

ICEC DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION FUNDS FOR FILM & TV

Development – for fiction, animation or documentary features and/or series for theatrical or broadcast release (2,000,000 €)*

Short Films (400,000 €)*

Documentary - feature and TV documentaries, one-offs and series (new fund)

TV Series – for series of 6 to 10 episodes with a minimum budget of 4m€ (4,500,000 €)*

Animation - for feature films and TV series (4,940,000 €)

Feature Films – For fiction projects intended for a theatrical release (16,200,000 €)*

Minority coproduction –For fiction, animation and documentary projects intended for a theatrical release (2,000,000 €)*

Catalan minority coproduction fund

To support the production of fiction, documentary and animated feature films of high artistic quality and production value that may reach a national and international audience with a minority Catalan share. The fund intends to open new markets for Catalan companies and encourage reciprocity.

Local share: Bipartite minimum 20% and maximum 49% // Multipartite nor less than 10% (5% for European coproductions under the revised CE Convention on Cinematographic Coproduction)

Financing must be guaranteed for 40% of the project’s total budget

Minimum budgets:

800,000 € (fiction) / 300,000 € (documentary) / 1,000,000 € (animation)

Maximum 300,000 €, no more than 60% of the local producer’s share

The feature film must be released in commercial cinemas in Catalonia

The international coproduction must have the official approval in Spain at the time of application

No requirement to shoot in Catalonia

One call per year

Min. 6 episodes -  max. 10 episodes / Min. 240’ – max. 600’

Participation of open-air broadcaster in Catalonia required

Participation of a second broadcaster or streamer required Producer must retain 25% IP

Majority language Catalan
