QUARTERLY UPDATES Q2 2011
IBF now has its own proprietary estate-planning course. The estate planning designation, now called Certified Estate and Trust Specialist (CES) covers four major topics: [1] estate planning, [2] post-mortem planning, [3] living trusts and [4] executor and successor trustee duties. The biggest part, estate planning, is 150 pages long and comprises this quarter’s updates (2011, Q2). The estate planning course looks at the idea of estate planning and trusts after the 2010 passage of major legislation, which will now exempt over 99% of your clients from any kind of estate taxation. After reading these updates you will: [1] be up-to-date on estate planning for the next few years—with a focus on what is really important now and [2] you will have completed about 2/3 of the CES program. The material that follows is in 13 parts (see table of content). IBF strongly encourages you to sign up for the CES designation once you have read these updates while the information is still fresh in your mind. These materials are easy to follow and are based on a real life, practical approach to estate planning.
