Beach Wedding By SISKO AKT

I
f you’re looking for a simple and beautifully natural wedding, a beach wedding is the perfect solution. Beach weddings are often memorable, unique, and offer a plethora of style options. There’s nothing more romantic than the sounds of the surf, the sand between your toes and the sultry, salt-tinged air... It’s all more amazing than you can imagine. Beaches offer the perfect backdrop for your dream destination wedding. As all eyes are turned on the bride on this important day, you need to look for a wedding dress style that is most flattering for your figure. Once you’ve determined the silhouette you want (sheath, ball gown, A-line,) you can focus on

the wedding dress’ details. For a beach wedding, try to stay away from heavy beading, which weighs a dress down. Look for light and airy fabrics such as silk chiffon or organza. Halter necklines also lend a more casual, beachy look. You may want to forego the long train, which is sure to accumulate lots of sand, and the cathedral-length wedding veil, which could be really annoying in a strong ocean breeze. Loose, flowing hair may suit your free-spirited style, but if strong breezes are a-blowin’, you could be battling crazy flying strands! Instead, select a wedding hairstyle that has at least the front part of your hair off your face. Loosely arranged up-dos are also a lovely choice.

Bridesmaids Brilliant bridesmaid groups get along like sisters, work together to come up with amazing ideas and make the bride happy. Follow these simple tips to keep brides and bridesmaids looking and feeling in harmony!
1
FIND THE RIGHT FEEL: Take your time and decide how you want the bridesmaid dresses to complement your wedding gown. Find a style that evokes the same feel as your dress but isn’t too similar - you don’t want your bridesmaids looking like the bride.
2
MIX IT UP: Or consider choosing a colour or fabric and then letting each bridesmaid pick a style that best suits her body type. Your petite bridesmaid and taller attendant may look totally different in the same dress and would surely appreciate the chance to pick their own style. You can also choose to mix up different lengths of the dresses to keep it fun and unique for each bridesmaid!
4 COLOUR THEM BEAUTIFUL:
ONE SIZE DOESN’T FIT ALL: Search for a style that flatters the different sizes and shapes of your bridesmaids. A-line skirts and empire waists tend to look good on all body types.
12 CONFETI

Choose colours that you like and think would look good on all of your friends (consider their complexions and hair colours). Brighter colours are generally more flattering with darker complexions, while pastel hues are a perfect pick for girls with fairer skin.

Honeymoon
VIBES
You’ve said your vows, cut the cake, and danced all night with family and friends — now it’s time to head off on your beach honeymoon! Whether you’re jetting off to Miami, Hawaii, Fiji, or Tahiti, it’s on the honeymoon that your romance begins to blossom in full swing and you get to know each other well. As a newly wedded bride, you would want to look gorgeous on your first ‘official’ romantic vacation. So we want to make sure you look chic and pretty while you’re soaking up the sun and relaxing with your sweetie!
VERSATILE CLOTHING THAT’S EASY TO LAYER Whether you’re cruising around the Caribbean or backpacking in the Himalayas, you’ll need pieces that you can easily shed or add on as temperatures rise or drop. Pack a variety of different tops — tanks, short- sleeved and long sleeved-shirts, as well as a few nice pullovers. Also, find a swimsuit cover-up that you can easily wear to any restaurant. Research what the weather conditions will be like at your destination during that time of year, and check the forecast before you plan to leave!
SWIMWEAR
Find a swimsuit that makes you feel comfortable with the body you have — be it a bikini, tankini, or one piece. There are plenty of sexy options out there for every size. Do get something that’s a little adjustable, so it won’t fall off if you do actually drop a few pounds. You’ll look and feel like a bronzed beach goddess!
LINGERIE
Pack a few pretty, breezy lingerie pieces, and don’t forget your sexiest pairs of underwear. And, okay, at least one “yowza!” ensemble. You’d be wise to include a few salacious nighties and chemises that will easily translate from sexy time to sleep time.
DON’T FORGET!
Just because you are on your honeymoon does not mean you have to wear the skimpiest of clothes. A sari can look as sexy as a short dress, if draped well. So wear the clothes you are comfortable in and carry them off with grace and confidence. Opt for long skirts, frill tops and softlinen dresses. At night, wear something elegant like a nice cocktail dress or a chiffon sarong. Your husband will surely not be able to take his eyes off you!

Style David Fielden showcases New Sposa 2016 Collection in Spellbinding Fashion Show in Milan
I
nspired by African tribal wear, the latest collection by internationally renowned British designer, David Fielden, was showcased for the first time back in May in the fashion capital of Milan. With a distinct nod to different ethnic cultures and an emphasis on hand crafted fabrics, macramĂŠ, raffia, lacer cut, leather fringing and Cornelia embroidery, the collection did not fail to leave a huge impression on fashion show onlookers. Bold simple shapes, both fluid and full where details and texture take prominence were set off against metallic and muddy, earth colours to emphasise the details. The fashion show featured models walking on sand out of a forest and into a desert oasis where flickering candles floated on a large pool of water. The unique staging complemented the impressive array of stunning gowns, which form the new 2016 Sposa Collection. David Fielden has been established in the luxury bridal market for over 30 years and is famed for his innovative designer bridal and eveningwear. Davidfielden.co.uk

Sanyukta Shrestha Sanyukta Shrestha is a busy, busy lady - Yet between being a new mother to her baby girl and trying to raise funds to directly help the families who lost everything in the earthquake in her native Nepal, she has managed to create a stunning bridal wear collection that is elegant, luxurious and unique.

My personal style is
Well, being an extremely busy mum but also having to represent my brand I’d say I definitely go for simple yet elegant. Simplicity is definitely key! My biggest achievement to date would have to be the birth of my baby girl Ameya last May! She is my little muse.
Trends that I feel will be popular in 2015 I think brides are becoming more and more adventurous when looking for their perfect
wedding dress. So many brides are stepping away from traditional, status quo gowns and reaching for more unique designs with their own little twists! Expect a lot of contemporary separates, romantic ruffles, exquisite 3D embellishment and layers upon layers of dreamy tulle! I find the inspiration for my gowns from my dreams. I am a vivid dreamer and a lot of the time I find myself waking up and quickly sketching for a new piece! Brides inspire me greatly,
their infectious personalities and unique opinions and I guess also new places that I am privileged enough to visit. It’s incredible for me to be working within an industry that keeps challenging me. Fashion design is a constant learning process and of course trends change but truly good designs should stand the test of time. I think ultimately, that is what I aim for every time I begin work on new pieces.
My average working day is Busy, busy, busy! That
may even be an understatement! I am a full time working mummy, so as you can imagine I’m always doing something. But
I truly love it and enjoy every moment! At the moment I’m working on my haute couture collection, which just launched at London Bridal Fashion Week along with my flower girl collection named after my daughter, Ameya. This collection is really about empowerment and helping women. The collection was able to withstand the earthquake in Nepal, however people in these small village communities have lost almost everything and are unable to work so I’m working towards raising funds to directly help set up sustainable projects which will rehabilitate these CONFETI 37
women and their families for the future. The aim is really to create awareness and ensure traditions are upheld for future generations. To me, if I could bring a smile to their faces by making sure they are able to do what they love – then I have truly achieved something in my career.
What brides can expect from a Sanyukta Shrestha gown It’s been my desire for many years to create beautiful signature designs that are luxurious, indulgent and unique but also sustainable and fair trade. I believe in reflecting the individual through my designs. For me feeling amazing is just as important as looking amazing! Sanyukta Shrestha stands out from other labels because it is beauty with a conscience. That is our ethos and the main
message we deliver with every gown. As important as aesthetics are, the fabrics we use (hemp, organic silk, bamboo lace, organic cotton) all have health benefits, like the nourishing properties and anti-bacterial properties that are amazing for all brides, especially those with sensitive skin.
Destination wedding dresses must be lightweight
in terms of the bride’s comfort and also the practicality of transporting the dress. To create equilibrium between beauty & practicality, fabric plays the most essential role. If you feel good, you look good! Therefore choosing natural fabrics like silk, bamboo, hemp and organic cotton will provide beauty and even health benefits (bamboo provides resistance to UV light as well as antibacterial properties which makes it extremely suitable (even for brides with sensitive skin) without compromising the comfort.

MAKE UP YOUR DAY YOUR WAY
Every weekend (and pretty much every week day too!) our beauty expert, Liza Mayne, helps brides enhance their natural beauty for their big day. Whatever their own personal style may be, Liza personalises every look to suit each and every bride’s wishes. She’s collaborated with many designers and her portfolio includes a great deal of celebrities. We see her in action on a daily basis at CONFETI headquarters - so naturally she’s our ‘go-to’ guru when it comes to shooting the latest spread for CONFETI magazine. Here she shares her musthave products and beauty secrets with us.
MY BRIDE FILE
“
I’ve worked with more than 500 brides over the years and have created looks for every occasion, theme and style. Meet some of my beautiful brides and find out more about each pretty personalised look, and the products that helped me to achieve them.
”
ROMANTIC
Sandra tied the knot in July 2010 on a Beach in front of her family home in Cabopino, Spain. Elegance was key for this beauty, I therefore did a colour wash on the eyes with one shade and, to add a pop of colour, I also used a blue liner under the eyes to help balance out the liner on the top lash line. This made her eyes appear even bluer and was something she was used to wearing. MUST HAVE L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes 52 CONFETI
GLAMOUROUS
Symone’s special day was in July 2014 at the Finca de la Conception, Marbella, Spain. Symone wanted glamorous make-up so I created a very strong, sexy smokey eye for her using pink and purple tones to give it a soft yet hard look. I kept the inside lighter and darkened the corners with black for an uber-chic dramatic eye. I added strong winged liner and a good set of lashes. MUST HAVE KIKO Waterproof eyeliner for long lasting stay and a high glossed finish.
CLASSIC
Katie got married in May 2013 at Hotel Quinta Do Lago, Portugal. I opted for a soft pink lipstick topped with a gloss, and a softer smokey eye for a look that’s less harsh, but still highlights all of her features. Kept the inner eye line clean to make eyes appear bigger then finished with individual lashes on the outer corner. MUST HAVE Eylure Individual lashes in Small and Medium to create shape.
MakeUp
MUST Haves! URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTES Although I have a selection of coloured shadows, my naked palettes never seem to fail me, for any style or mood my brides desire.
MAC EYELINER SMOULDER For an intense, long lasting inner eyeliner.
DUO GLUE Guaranteed to be found in any make-up artist’s kit, Duo Glue is a well-known eyelash glue, safe to use and durable.
MAKEUPFOREVER HD POWDER To conceal shine on the T-Zone or set the makeup for the day. It’s super fine in consistency and doesn’t appear cakey.
KIKO FACE MAKEUP FIXER To ensure that the make-up lasts all day and night, I always spray the ‘face fixer’ for that extra security.
MAC STROBE CREAM This always adds a delicate dewy effect to my bride’s skin.
MAC CONCEALOR PALETTE LOVE LOVE LOVE I simply LOVE LOVE LOVE this product for all my contouring and concealing.

LONG Enhance the look you desire
Daniel Boardman,

ecently we’ve seen hair extensions becoming an increasingly popular trend amongst brides and I am totally on board with this. You’ve invested so much money and time on your appearance for the day – why shouldn’t your hair get just as much attention? I like to look at it this way, hair extensions will give you the look you want, will cost less than your wedding dress and will last long past your honeymoon. Win, win baby! Let’s look at why there has been such a huge increase in the amount of brides opting for hair extensions recently; Well, no wedding day would be complete without having the hair of your dreams and many brides find that they haven’t got the thickness and often the length they want to complete their look for the big day. Hair extensions can give you fuller, thicker and longer locks that feel and look completely natural. Also, with long hair worn in soft waves being one of the most popular looks this year many of my brides have spent a year or more growing out their locks before the big day — and other brides took a shortcut and added hair extensions instead. I am all for getting the results you want – FAST!
Should you get extensions? If you want to wear your hair down and already have long locks but not the thickness, this is when hair extensions are at their best. They will add volume the whole way down the hair shaft, no stringy ends for you my love. Remember, you do not need to have a full head to create volume, 50-75 extensions will feel and look a lot different from your normal hair. If you have the on trend midi-cut, but want to wear your hair up for your 56 CONFETI
wedding day, then I would 100% recommend extensions. If your hair struggles to hold curls or waves then extensions may become your new best friend. They not only look more natural in this style, but they will also hold the curls all day.
You Give Me Fever I use Gold Fever hair extensions, which I think are the ‘Rolls Royce’ of hair extensions.
Whether you need that extra length, volume, fade-free highlights or texture, they’ll give you healthy, lustrous locks to help create the perfect hair on your special day. Gold Fever Hair Extensions exclusively use Indian Ritual Hair that is 100% Ethical & Traceable. They personally oversee what they buy and how it is processed in their new bespoke facilities thus ensuring that only the highest quality product is produced.
The beauty of good quality, 100% natural human hair extensions are that they allow you the freedom to style the hair as if it were your own – giving you endless styling options including a casual, modern or traditional look. Because the Gold Fever bonds are so small, these extensions give you ultimate flexibility for your wedding day hairstyle - it’s much easier to hide these small bundles than it is to hide clips or one-inch strips.
The Hair Extension Rules •
Opt for the best quality hair extension brands and go to a reputable salon that specialises in hair extensions.
•
Make sure that you have a consultation - this is paramount. Take in photos of your dress so that your stylist can advise you on exactly what look would work best with your style of the gown. There is no point putting in a full head of 20-inch extensions to give you a mane to rival JLo if you have gone for a high-neck lace gown. IT’S JUST TOO MUCH!
•
If you are planning to have colour, make sure you have this done before you go in for your initial hair extensions consultation, so that your specialist can do an exact hair colour match.
•
I always recommend my clients have their hair extensions applied at least 2-3 weeks prior to their wedding day, as the bonds will be softer and the hair is more flexible for an ‘up do’. Also make sure to have a trial your chosen hairstyle before the big day.
•
Use a shampoo which is sulphate and paraben free such as Pureology Strength Cure 19
•
Six weeks before your wedding day start applying an overnight treatment 1-2 times a week to get your hair in great condition. It’s going to be pulled, tugged, backcombed and sprayed to within an inch of its life on your big day, so make sure your locks are as healthy as possible before they get severely abused by your stylist. I love the Kerastase Masque Nutri Thermique 37, 20 to intensely nourish your hair and leave it looking and feeling softer. Remember if you have extensions the conditioning mask should only be put on the ends of the hair never on the root or near the bonds.

Natasha Johnson is an experienced Humanist Wedding Celebrant, writer and blogger on all things related to weddings, in particular wedding ceremonies. In this edition of Ask the Expert, we’re looking at wedding readings. From searching for the perfect reading, to having children as wedding readers, CONFETI’s Ask The Expert, Natasha Johnson is here to answer all of your wedding worries and doubts.
We really like the idea of having a reading during our ceremony, but all of the ones we have looked at are not right for us, and I have looked at a lot! We want something modern, but not slushy and maybe a bit funny. Any suggestions please? Julie, getting married April, 2016 It is great including a reading in your ceremony as it really adds a personal touch, but as you’ve experienced, it isn’t always easy picking the right reading for you! The good thing is however, you know what you don’t want, so now it is just a case of finding what you do! Readings are very subjective and what one person might love, another might absolutely detest, so it is important that a reading really resonates with you, that you love everything that it says and everything that it stands for. You may want to try looking at ‘Yes, I’ll Marry You My Dear,’ by Pam Ayres, which is very modern and funny, and also ‘He Never Leaves The Seat Up,’ which is often attributed to Pam Ayres, but she never actually wrote it! Bob Marley’s poem, ‘He’s Not Perfect,’ is very modern and very true to the realities of love and marriage and quite a popular reading at the moment. Tracy Emin’s ‘For Now’ is also very popular and very honest about what everyone would want in a modern marriage. And my last suggest to you is ‘I Like You, ‘ by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. It’s fun, it’s modern and it’s very sweet. So, fingers crossed that there will be one there among these recommendations that you will absolutely love! And failing that, the next step would be to write your own! I have had many couples now who in struggling to find a poem that reflected them, they decided to put pen to paper and write something themselves! Good luck, whatever you decide on.
We are looking at having a civil ceremony in Gibraltar. Will we be able to include readings in this type of ceremony? And are there any restrictions? Rona, getting married May 2016 You are allowed to have a reading at your civil ceremony in Gibraltar but it is best to check with them exactly how many you are allowed to have. There is likely to be some restrictions on the type of reading you can have, for example it is unlikely that you’ll be able to have any religious readings or readings that contain religious words. It is a nice idea to have a reading during a civil ceremony, as this will be one way, if not the only way, that you will be able to personalize this type of ceremony. But your first port of call is most definitely to check with the registry office who can give you a full rundown on what you can and can’t include on your wedding day. We would love our children aged ten and eight to read at our wedding but we’re not sure what readings are best for them and if they will be up for the challenge? Leon and Rachel, getting married June, 2016 Much to many parent’s surprise children do more often than not rise to the occasion and make their loved ones proud with their wedding reading skills. Before deciding on a reading, there are a number of things that can be done to make sure that a child will do their best during a wedding ceremony. First of all, make sure that the child really does want to do the reading in the first place! And this may even mean asking them a few hours or less before the actual ceremony, because children can change their minds. If you are confident that your child is happy to perform, the next step is to pick a suitable reading.
I have heard children read child-like wedding readings like ‘Us Two’ by AA Milne about Winnie the Pooh, but then I have also heard children read ‘On Your Wedding Day,’ which is more of an adult reading. The key thing to do is to pick a reading, which is clear, simple and straightforward, with no too many long words or complicated structures. ‘A Lovely Love Story’ by Edward Monckton, ‘I Want To Be Your Personal Penguin,’ by Sandra Boynton and ‘Some Things Go Together by Charlotte Zolotow, are also good readings for children. I’ve also had many parents allow their children to write their own. You’ll be surprised with the great stories and poems that they can come up with! What is the best way to pick a reader for our ceremony? My boyfriend wants to choose someone who is close to him, whereas I want to pick someone who has a good voice and will perform the reading well? Charlotte, getting married in December, 2015 Well, believe it or not, you and you boyfriend are both on the right tracks for picking your wedding reader. Ideally, your wedding reading should be read by someone close to you, or someone that you know well and they should also be someone who has a good reading voice and is confident. Sometimes, couples want someone to do a reading, more than the reader themselves wants to do the reading and this can end up not being good for both sides, especially if the reading is not read well. Additionally, it could be the case that somebody close to has a quiet voice, or lack of confidence and so this might rule them out as the right person to do the reading. It is a tricky one, but the key rule is to pick someone you are both happy with to read on your behalves and who has a nice, clear speaking voice. The good news is most people have good, clear speaking voices, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to select your perfect person. CONFETI 59

Breakfast M
ost happy couples nowadays employ a caterer to produce their “Wedding Breakfast” if they are not holding their reception in an hotel or restaurant, but such was not always the case. In the past in great houses, or even in the more modest abodes of the “middle classes”, staff were employed to produce the feast. It is, of course, called a “breakfast”, as it is the first meal taken by the newly wedded couple. There was a time when such meals were very elaborate. During the reign of Napoleon III a banquet of some eighteen courses might be served. By the beginning of the twentieth century the number of dishes was greatly reduced. When King Baudouin of the Belgians married Doña Fabiola de Mora y Aragon on 13th December, 1960,
60 CONFETI
a “simple” meal was served: Consommé Diane Homard aux aromates Selle de marcassin Nesselrode, Purée de marrons Délice de foie gras de Strasbourg, Gelée au Xérès Parfait Royal Consommé, lobster, young wild boar, and foie gras; very simple! If a couple, or more probably the family, are going to produce their own breakfast, a few simple rules should be observed. But what is “simple”? Even in the middle of the last century a French chef was able to suggest to those planning such a meal that one should limit the menu to an hors d’oeuvre, a soup, fish or shellfish, an entrée, roast meat, game or poultry with accompanying vegetables and salad, a sweet dessert, a dainty savoury or cheese, and fresh fruit. He also advised that one should plan the menu according to one’s culinary skills, and according to the likes and dislikes of the guests!
Padre Peter, cleric for wedding ceremonies and regular contributor to CONFETI Magazine
His own Wedding Breakfast suggestions were: *Canapés riches *Cream of asparagus soup *Salmon steaks Louis XVI *Breasts of guinea fowl with lychees *Palm shoots à la Milanese *Almond soufflé *Zabaglione with port
Sound advice, and there are not many guests today who could tackle such a menu! I need not dwell further on such meals, as today nobody wishes to put on weight, and very few people have the sort of stomach able to cope with vast quantities of rich food. Also, the word “simple” appears to have changed its meaning! What is always a good idea at weddings, particularly at those where the aim is a certain degree of informality, is to have a nicely planned and staged buffet. Guests are then able to pick and choose, cut and come again, and eat at their own pace. Naturally, there will be tables elegantly laid where they can sit, and the occupants of each table can be initially directed to the buffet tables in due order. This avoids the sort of stampede which
characterised the unfortunate demise of the Gaderene swine (Mark 5 XIII). The food can be as simple or grand as the couple wish, and the variety on offer will be bound to please even the most picky individuals. Carnivores, vegetarians, vegans, fruit bats, nutcases, will all be able to find something to eat in a well planned buffet. When planning such a meal remember that some dishes can look beautiful when initially presented, only to degenerate into an unholy mess once a couple of enthusiastic guests have had their wicked way with fork and spoon. Nor should guests be allowed to do any carving. Carving is an art, and best left to trained cooks. A turkey, piece of beef, or a salmon can be professionally dissected in the kitchen and reconstituted so that only a fork or spoon is needed to retrieve a portion. And it should be borne in mind that many guests will help themselves to far too much food, and that portion control should, therefore, be more generous than usual.
It is also a good idea to have the same dishes on a couple of tables to avoid too great a crush on the one table. If the buffet has been produced by family members rallying round, it is still a good idea to consider employing a couple of staff to oversee the service. They can at least prevent guests from using a ladle to serve the caviar…An alternative to a buffet is, of course, a barbeque. This is not as mobile as a buffet which can, if necessary, be swiftly moved indoors should the heavens open. Although I remember on one occasion that the barbeque continued under the open garage overhead door, with the host merrily operating under an umbrella. On another occasion it was decided to roast an ox. Having ascertained that this takes at least two days with a slow fire, the necessary preparations were made. It was decided that an old telegraph pole would make a good spit, and I have a glorious recollection of four
rugby players inserting the pole at the rear end of a vast unyielding carcass. But came the day, all was well! The Wedding Cake is perhaps no longer the item “de rigeur” that it once was. Indeed, in Spain the massive royal iced three tiered piece montée, traditionally, it is said, based upon the steeple of Saint Bride’s church in the City of London, has never been in fashion. So perhaps some thought might be given to alternatives. Ideas are not too hard to find, perhaps in magazines such as the one that you are now reading, or after discussion with confectioners and cake makers. If the cake is to be provided by a relative, it is wise to ascertain (oh, so discreetly!) that the relative knows what s/he is doing! I have seen some disasters over the years over which I will now draw a veil so as not to alarm unduly any bride of a nervous disposition. Your cake, my dear, will be simply splendid!

Love CONQUERS Celebrant ceremonies are growing more and more popular every year, as people move away from religious ceremonies and look for a more relaxed and informal style of service. Allan says: “I find myself in a very responsible position regarding the work I do, as I’m involved in the early stages of what is possibly the most important day of someone’s life – and this is something one cannot take lightly. I set out from the beginning by getting to know the couple, and earning their trust. I invite them to tell me exactly what their expectations are for their day, helping them with the words of their vows to one another, and clarifying the importance of what they say and do and explaining the layout of their ceremony, so that when the day comes, the couple are more relaxed, expectant and excited at the prospect of their blessing. I am first and foremost the director of a ceremony that is a happy and momentous day in the lives of two people. ”

Allan takes his role very seriously and says that for him, the celebration boils down to a few simple things “Uniquely and most importantly, the day is about the two people standing in front of me, it’s about their happiness, their love, their day, their wants and needs and their blessing - which I perform to the best of my ability and I consider myself to be a very fortunate person in a very fortunate position.” No matter where or what kind of wedding, ceremony or service you require, Allan’s dedication, passion, enthusiasm and commitment will ensure that he will bring you that extra special personal touch for a wedding that is distinctive, individual and truly yours… Tel: +34 672 137 547 adcelebrant@outlook.com adcelebrantservices.com

CONFETI talks to Jessica de Anais Limoni García about her undeniable passion for weddings and her new company - Limoni Experience

essica is young, fresh and vibrant and stands up to greet me with a burst of enthusiastic energy and a beaming smile. She’s dressed in bright lemon yellow – “Limoni” I exclaim. She smiles, “Yes! I thought it quite suiting with the brand!”
I’ve come to meet Jessica to discuss her new event organising company, Limoni, dedicated to organising, arranging and throwing some of the greatest events and parties here on the Costa del Sol. I want to find out a little about her, the business and her plans for extraordinary weddings. Although she grew up in Marbella, where she studied at the prestigious Les Roches, hospitality school, Jessica’s been working in hotels all over the world for the past few years; from London to Dubai and Shanghai to Santo Domingo… and she’s finally made her way back to her hometown again. “Since graduating, I’ve worked in some of the most exclusive hotels in the world where I learnt so much and gained some invaluable skills and understanding of the hotel industry. I began working in food and beverages but I knew it wasn’t my preferred field and when I gained a position as a wedding organiser at the Dubai Royal Mirage, I knew that was what I wanted to do!” During her time organising weddings at the Mirage, Jessica oversaw some of the

most lavish and extravagant events imaginable, primarily for wealthy expats and foreigners, where her personable manner, infectious enthusiasm and language skills were a huge asset to her success. Jessica is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and French and her relaxed and friendly character means that she puts her clients at ease no matter where they’re from or what event she’s planning. She’s straight talking and has a no-nonsense approach that is refreshing and inspiring and she exudes confidence – you know that if she says she’ll get it done- she will! Over the years she’s gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in coordinating every aspect of a wedding; from décor to dresses, food to flowers and groomsmen to guests, and she can make even the most ‘Bridezilla’ of brides feel relaxed and at ease on the big day – which is no mean feat, considering that brides-to-be are often the most demanding, picky and challenging of clients. Jessica doesn’t see this as a problem, but rather a chance to aim for excellence and to constantly strive for perfection. “My client is always the most important person, with weddings that will be two people - my bride and groom (and sometimes their parents also). My aim and objective is to fulfil all of their wishes and to ensure that their wedding day exceeds expectations and is truly the greatest day of their lives. Brides are all too often nervous, stressed and worried, my job is to take all of that anxiety away and relieve them of any pressures other than to turn up, look beautiful and really enjoy themselves. It’s great to feel a part of such a momentous occasion and to play such a vital role in a day that changes two people’s lives forever.”
“With weddings, I’m not just an organiser and planner – it’s a far more personal relationship. I become the bride’s mother, sister, best friend, adviser and reason. Upon Jessica’s return to Marbella, she began working for a local event planning agency, where she secured her reputation and relationships in Marbella, building networks, liaising with clients and suppliers and establishing solid working relationships with venues, caterers, florists and entertainment

She has finally fulfilled her goal in creating her own agency – where she is at liberty to undertake and oversee the smallest boutique affair, to the most sumptuous and lavish banquet. Jessica’s close relationship with the exclusive restaurant and nightclub, Finca Besaya, the luxury beachside spot Besaya Beach and the much-loved wedding venue, Tikitano, means that she’s on the pulse and in the heart of Marbella’s bustling social scene. Her diary is rapidly filling up with weddings for Spring 2016 in some of the coast’s most coveted
wedding spots and she grins with obvious excitement as she tells me of the romance and beauty she intends to create with vintage touches and modern twists. It all sounds beautiful, magical and like the fairy-tale godmother experience one only dreams of in fairy tales. We were on a tiny island off the south coast of Cuba and on our last night on the island (we were due to fly to Varadero the next day to continue our holiday), Bhavesh had booked us a table at a restaurant. When we arrived, I was surprised to see that he had arranged for us to dine in a private cabana that was beautifully decorated with candles, flowers and white curtains that were softly blowing in the breeze. During our meal, we were serenaded with beautiful Spanish love songs. At this point he told me that he did this for me

It was after dinner when Bhavesh suggested that we go for a walk on the beach. As we walked towards the sea, I was holding on to him and walking with precaution as it was dark with only the moonlight to guide us, and the deck that led to the rocks above the shore had large enough gaps for my stilettos to become wedged in! When we arrived at the beach, the moonlight hit the waves that were rolling onto the sand - we just stood there in awe of the scenery. We held each other tight and reminisced about the amazing times we had been through together over all the years we had known each other. He then suddenly said, ‘Can you see that?’ I turned around to see what he was pointing at, and as I looked down, a light shone on to the rocks where there was a sign that read, ‘Marry Me?’. I already knew that this would be the theme throughout. We decided to marry in Spain as we both travelled there often. Spain has always been a destination close to home and close to my heart... the ambience, the people, the laidback attitude, the weather and climate.... we had to get married in Spain!
True Blue
morning, the blessing ceremony in the afternoon followed by cocktails and the reception party into the night. All were outdoors, the weather was amazing and all this infused with the surroundings and the ‘buzz’ our guests came with made it truly the best wedding, I myself, had ever been to, and I still can’t believe that it was my own. I knew I wanted a traditional Hindu wedding with a twist of vintage and regal attire. Dianna from Party People and the team at Beau Rivaaaj ensured that the setting was just that and the planning was impeccable. The mandap was decorated with beautiful fabrics and hanging ornaments. It looked exquisite with traditional but subtle colours. The large pillars surrounding the amphitheatre were draped with beautiful images of Lord Ganesh. For the blessing ceremony, Dianna had stripped away the colours and left a beautiful plain white chuppah that was complemented by the surroundings of the Roman Stone amphitheatre. The ivory and soft pink flowers paired with our outfits made a perfect combination against the sunlight and the greenery.

King & Queen OF THE CASTLE Aimee and Ollie tie the knot in a fairytale location in the romantic hills of Andalucia.
Forever friends… The first time we met was when an old friend of mine brought her boyfriend Glenn to a party, who in turn brought his friend Ollie along for moral support, it wasn’t until five years later when Ollie came to my friend’s birthday party that we actually hit it off. He later asked Glenn to be his best man! A home from home My maternal grandmother’s side of the family is Spanish and, when I was a toddler, my parents bought a villa near Marbella and I’ve been fortunate enough to spend every summer there since. It really has become a home from home for me, and now for Ollie. We visited a few venues in the UK, but we were astounded by the cost and we were worried about the gamble that is the English weather! So having spent a lot of time in Spain together, we both agreed quite quickly that we’d like to get married out there, and then thought why not make a long weekend of it!
Angel sent from above All the credit for the venue is down to our wedding planner, Jenny Black of Marbella Wedding Angels. After looking around a few hotels in Marbella Jenny turned to me and said “does it have to be on the coast? I’ve seen a great venue that I think you’ll love” so we took her advice and agreed to go and see it, and we certainly didn’t regret it. We fell in love instantly. La Herriza is located in Gaucin, a village about an hour inland from Marbella. La Herriza is a beautiful, secluded cortijo tucked into the Andalucian hills; it is quintessentially Spanish and utterly stunning. It has scenery, wilderness, character and charm, which is everything we were after! Staff at the venue were extremely friendly, but the deal clincher was when they told us that we could have the venue exclusively, that there wouldn’t be any timing restrictions on the evening music, and that they would keep the bar open for as long as we wanted, which meant that in true Spanish style, we could keep celebrating until the early hours of the morning! David, who runs the beautiful cortijo, casually mentioned that there was a castle on the peak of the local town - there was no turning back! We were hooked; it’s a crumbling Moorish castle with panoramic views, overlooking the Andalucian landscape as far as Gibraltar, and on a good day you can see the unbelievable views of Morocco in the distance. The only negative was a steep rambling path to get up to the castle entrance – this proved tricky, but totally worth it for the views (I hope our guests feel the same way!) We wanted to make sure we spent a lot of time with our guests and for them to get their money’s worth! So we took over the venue for four days, with a tapas meal and flamenco band for the night before the wedding and a paella and BBQ meal in the courtyard amongst the olive and orange trees on the day after the wedding.

Timeless style The dress that I chose had a real 1940’s feel to it and was elegant and classic. I found the Joyce Jackson veil and loved the Spanish style of it with the lace and diamante edging, it complimented the dress wonderfully. I decided to keep my jewellery simple as I wanted the dress to be the main focus. My something old was a beautiful art deco-style diamond ring from my mum (sadly though she wouldn’t let me keep it!), my something borrowed were a pair of drop earrings that belonged to my sister, my something new was the dress, and my something blue ended up being the glorious blue skies. I wanted my bridesmaids to feel comfortable and for them to have a dress that they would wear again. In fact, the bridesmaids’ dresses were the first thing that I bought, so that helped me decide the colour scheme for me. I knew I wanted pinks and purples and so just went with that quite loosely. Special touches We wanted a relaxed and informal feel for the wedding. We weren’t keen on having too much of a theme because the venue and castle were so stunning that it seemed a shame to not keep everything else natural. It was our main concern to make sure that we kept the classic Spanish feel throughout the whole wedding, so Ollie and I made some signage
to guide our guests through the town and onto the castle, on small Osbourne Bull shaped signs. We also personalised hand fans for all of the ladies to cool themselves with during the treacherous climb up to the castle. During the reception we had traditional Spanish tapas, including ham carved off the bone, and white sangria with cava, not forgetting the delicious local wine that complemented the meal wonderfully. Ollie made a lot of the decorations himself by hand. He made all of the table name pieces and table numbers out of acrylic, the table plan, and also the large “A & O”
marquee letters that ended up being really effective on the dance floor. I felt that all of his hard work made the whole thing feel very personal to us. Although the courtyard was stunning, I asked the florist to install overhead lanterns to add a magical romance once the sun had set, and it was a very special touch! I know very little about flowers, but I loved the look of hydrangeas and peonies so I asked the florist to incorporate them into her ideas and the outcome was beautiful. The soft colours of the flowers really complemented the rustic Spanish feel we wanted to achieve and matched the pink and purple colour scheme I had in mind. A song and a dance The music played throughout the day was a very important aspect for us, we thought it would be a great touch to have a live singer for the ceremony and Sarah Howard did a fantastic job – she sang a beautiful cover of ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri as I walked down the aisle, and we absolutely adored it. It was so beautiful it set me off with a few tears! During the reception we had a Spanish band playing traditional music, although I made sure that they included some Gypsy Kings and I’m so pleased they did as they certainly got some of the guests going. For the evening celebrations we hired DJ Rob who I cannot speak more highly of - he did an absolutely fantastic job and kept our guests dancing until gone 5:30am! We decided to use my dad’s Land Rover Defender as our wedding car, which was an unusual choice, but worked a charm to squeeze in two photographers, a videographer and a best man on the (very bumpy) ride back to the venue! Natural beauty We chose David Toms as our photographer and we absolutely loved his efforts and enthusiasm on the day. David and his assistant Isabel made us feel totally relaxed and it was like having a couple more friends at the wedding. David went above and beyond and climbed up to the furthest point of the castle to take some fantastic pictures of the panoramic landscape. The end result of the photos is truly stunning, we are over the moon with them. We used Emotion Moments for our videography and Danny and Adam worked so well with the photographer David, they all complimented one another. It was interesting hearing them inform
each other what would work for the other, from their different angles and perspectives throughout the day. We can’t wait to see the video, this is something we still have to look forward to! Unforgettable moments The whole day was just so amazing that there are so many favourite moments to choose from! I loved how emotional I felt during the ceremony, the speeches were so touching, my uncle wrote and performed a ten verse song about me and Ollie on his ukulele which had everyone laughing. My sister also surprised me with putting together an amazing video of me growing up, which was such a personal and thoughtful touch and got me crying once again! We loved having so many great friends and family all in one place. Every corner we turned there was someone else we wanted to chat to, which made for an awesome party. The perfect day It sounds cheesy, but everything went so well and came together perfectly, so I don’t think there is anything we would change!
Enjoy the small things Enjoy the buildup and the planning, although some parts can be slightly stressful, it’s all part of the excitement as the day itself goes so quickly. Also, make the most of having all your loved ones in one place for your special day, you wouldn’t believe how much love you will feel from everyone - it can be quite overwhelming!

The Perfect Wedding Michael and Lorna chose the stunning setting of the Puente Romano Hotel for a beautiful beach wedding with family and friends.

Whirlwind romance Michael and I met in a bar called The Apartment, in Northern Ireland, where Michael is originally from. We exchanged numbers and had what can only be called a whirlwind romance. After a lot of contact on Bebo, MSN, texts, email, phone calls etc, Michael decided after 4 months to pack up his car and move to Dublin, that was 7 years ago now!
coordinator. Tara Lorimer. I got on with Tara so well from the moment we met and I just knew she would make our day come together just right. We were able to have our actual wedding on the beach and then move inside to the Del Mar restaurant, which was fantastic as it’s simply stunning. We also had the exclusive Suite nightclub for later in the night, which topped it off for us and of course the beautiful gardens of The Puente Romano.
Spanish Sun My grandfather lived in Estepona for many years and, because of this, Spain became a regular place for me to visit with family and friends as I got older. We enjoyed several holidays to Marbella and also being guests at a stunning wedding, that of James Bailie and Sean O’Leary in a beautiful Villa in San Pedro – which finally confirmed our original idea of wanting Spain as our wedding location. The Perfect location We spent Christmas 2013 in Marbella looking at beautiful venues, the last place we saw, which from photos was always my favourite, was The Puente Romano. From the moment we walked into the reception it just felt right, from the decor to the general feel and then of course meeting the wedding
Elegant Style My dress was from Pronovias – I chose the Ontario gown and made some of my own changes to it. My veil was also from Pronovias. My bridesmaids were in three different styles of long red chiffon dresses, I got the ideas from the web and had the dresses made here in Ireland. The main colours were the bright red dresses that the bridesmades wore. My husband wore a beautiful blue suit from Louis Copeland but otherwise we had a very neutral palette throughout, which was mainly white. My flowers were from Virginia Florista and my bouquet and Michaels button hole were provided by James Bailie. Décor was designed by John MacCallion (father of the bride)

who also decorated the beach for the wedding ceremony, under a beautiful canapé, with simple seaside touches and white feathers. Good enough to eat We had a champagne reception with beautiful canapés. Followed by our mean meal, which consisted of king prawn skewers with mango chutney and salad, champagne sorbet palatte cleanser in between. The main courses were either salmon or fillet steak and the dessert was chocolate mousse with Andalusian oranges, all provided by the chef at the Puente Romano. Music to our ears… The singing during the ceremony was by Maureen Doucet, my Aunt, and family friend, Brian Horgan. The New Orleans Jump Band played throughout the reception, and Michael and I entered The Del Mar restaurant to their music. Personal touch For me, some of the most intimate and personal details were the most special – The decor that my father did, which included ostrich feathers and wicker hearts - and my beautiful bouquet, which was provided by my dad’s best friend James Bailie. The stunning setting of Del Mar made the occasion super special, as well as DJ Tristan, the fireworks and the golf buggies up to Suite nightclub where we danced the night away.

Making memories Our wedding photographer was Jeremy Standley and we could not be happier with the result. Jeremy captured the emotion of the day so well - he is a true artist and a real pleasure to work with. Simply unforgettable My favourite moments of the day were getting ready with my mom and bridesmaids with the fantastic Lyndsey Cavanagh doing our make-up and my hairdresser from home, Mr Kevin Coyne. Walking up the aisle with my Dad to see my gorgeous husband and seeing all my guests and the decor for the first time was also very special.
Our first dance was a magical moment as was having our photos taken, as it allowed us to be alone at different parts of the day. The speeches were a fabulous moment as they were beautiful and really emotional and Michael gave his mom, grandmother and my mom beautiful flowers too. Going to Suite to enjoy a very different wedding experience and to dance the night away finished the night off to perfection. If I could change anything… Change?!?! We would not change a thing, we wish we could do it all again!
If I could offer any advice to future couples I’d tell them to spend as much of the day together as possible and try to enjoy every second. Do what you feel is right – after all it is your day. Give yourself time to plan, you’ll only do this once.

Beauty at the Love at first sight Paul was studying engineering at HMS SULTAN, Gosport and I was studying Media Studies at Portsmouth University. I handed my dissertation in on 22nd April 2009 and went out into Portsmouth in the evening with friends to celebrate. Paul was out with his work colleagues after watching a Liverpool VS Arsenal game. My student friends and I went to the student bar, Walkabout, and after one too many drinks I was entered into a wet T-shirt competition with one of my best friends Diane. Unbeknown to me Paul was on the dance floor watching the wet T-shirt competition, (cringe!) and after I jumped off the stage our eyes met…. The rest is history! area well and Paul also has family living in the area of Spain that we got married. We love the laid back culture in Spain and also the welcoming attitude towards children, (we have two!). We are not a traditional couple so a church wasn’t for us. We had always discussed getting married on the beach in the sun and so after falling in love with this location, Spain seemed the perfect choice for us.
Heavenly location We spoke with a friend of ours who recommended our venue (Salduna Beach) as an option for her wedding. We went to take a look at Salduna and fell in love with it immediately. The modern design with a natural and cool feel to it was perfect. The surrounding beach and scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is mellow and calm; exactly how we wanted our wedding to be! After eating and drinking at the venue we just had to book it, the food, drink and service was 5*.
Rosie and Paul enjoyed a heavenly wedding day with friends and family at Salduna beach club. A simply unforgettable day at the beach!
Floaty beachwear My wedding dress was ivory colour and I kept it very simple. It was floaty and light, which I wanted for on the beach. I was in barefoot for the day and wore a diamond and beaded headpiece, my look was described as “a Greek goddess” by our guests! The bridesmaids were in a combination of coral and light beige dresses, the dresses were silk and all different lengths. Again they were floaty and looked beautiful when caught by the wind on the beach. The groomsmen all wore matching light stone shorts and coral shirts.
mixed into the frame. Choosing this type of ceremony meant that we could involve our children, who are three years and six months old and are a big factor in us wanting to get married in order to unite our family.
Sand ceremony We decided on a sand ceremony where myself, Paul and our two children, Stanley and Edith, poured sand from four different vases into a glass frame. The frame had a photo of Paul and I in it and the sand from the four vases represented being united as one as the sand was poured and
We also provided a vodka & lime sorbet as a pallet cleanser - and a bottle of tequila per table as a livener before the band started.
A veritable feast We provided canapés after the ceremony and then a three-course meal. The meal consisted of: Tomato, mozzarella, avocado & pesto towers, chicken quesadillas, Carpaccio, duck confit with a sweet potato jus and green beans and chocolate brownie & ice cream.
The cake was left to Paul’s mum who organised a chocolate sponge with chocolate filling. It had a sand texture and look on each tier, with shells and pebble
decoration. The top tier had deck chairs with a Mr and Mrs Starfish that wore a veil and top hat! It was something different that took on the theme and colours of the day. The band was fantastic and played for nearly 3 hours. They played a mixture of current hits and 70s disco hits - all with a slight funk twist. They had a great soul feel and had all of our guests up and dancing from the minute they came on. Relax and smile We chose Tony Wilkinson Photography to take our photographs and Tony was brilliant! He met up with us before the event, which helped to ease the feeling of being awkward turtles in front of the camera on the big day. Tony allowed us to choose when we wanted photos taken and gave us the freedom of
our own ideas or certain people we wanted to incorporate into our pictures. He was very relaxed and fitted in well with our day. A family affair We will both remember the ceremony forever! It was very personal to us, with personal written vows and involving our children meant the world to us. Many of our guests commented on how lovely and intimate our ceremony was after it took place. Dancing to the band is also a highlight. Both Paul and I love live music and the band played songs that we both love. We got to end our big day by completely letting go on the dance floor with all our wonderful friends and family. If I had to do it again, I would change‌ NOTHING But I would love to do it again just to experience it all again!
Address Book My advice to brides-to-be Make sure you do what YOU want. Family and friends have lots of ideas and advice on what you should do but ultimately the day is about the two of you and having the day you choose. Paul and I planned our wedding together and everything about it was about us and what we enjoy doing.

Magical DAY A
Reggie and Sarah chose the stunning setting of Nueva Kaskada for a romantic Spanish wedding they’ll never forget
New York, New York! Reggie and I met one Sunday evening when out with friends in Newcastle in the Old George Pub. He was over with his football team from Belfast and I was out with friends including my best friend Elaine (my Matron of Honour) who’s from Liverpool. Reggie booked a surprise trip to New York in July 2013, which was a birthday present - or so I thought! On the 3rd evening we were there Reggie took me down to Times Square after a romantic meal and in the middle of a packed Times Square, at 11pm, Reggie proposed beside the George M Cohan Statue, ‘Give my regards to Broadway’! The next morning he took me to the Diamond District in NYC where I chose the diamond for my ring, design and we had it made there and then. We then went to Central Park and took a ride on a horse and carriage - and he proposed for a second time with the ring. Spanish dreams I have been visiting Spain with my family since I was a small child. I have many Spanish friends and studied Spanish and Spanish literature at school for my A levels. Since meeting Reggie I have shared my love of Spain and the Spanish culture with him and we visit Spain with my family at least 3 times a year. When we spoke over the years I always said that if I ever got married it would have to be in Spain. Unbeknown to me Reggie had even checked out how to marry in Spain two years ago but was not yet confident on how he would make it happen. After we got engaged Reggie said that we would make our dream of marrying in Spain come true so we began to look for information. We stumbled upon Marbella Wedding Angels and contacted Jenny Black straight away. This was the best decision we ever made and Jenny has been amazing through the whole process. We cannot recommend Marbella wedding angels highly enough! Marbella’s mountains Reggie and I met with Jenny Black to discuss our ideas and then I travelled back to Spain with my mother. Jenny took us to Nueva Kaskada and I fell in love with the place at first sight. When I met with the owner Ewald Fichthaler I knew instantly that it was the venue for our dream wedding.

The location of the restaurant up in the mountains overlooking Marbella is simply stunning. The whole place oozes sophistication and the attention to detail is simply outstanding. Ewald and his staff produce food, which is out of this world and we returned for an incredible menu tasting. Your love keeps lifting me higher I chose a Phoenix gown from a bridal boutique – AJ Bridal in Newburn, Newcastle Upon Tyne. The dress was ivory with lace, crystals and lots of sparkle, which is just me! In my opinion it had a very Spanish feel and guests also commented on this. It was my dream dress!
Kurt Kettner-Borough was the pastor who conducted our wedding and he was fantastic. Our sons Matthew and Oliver did readings; ‘Footprints in the sand’ and a reading from the book of Ruth; ‘Wherever you go’. The music began with ‘My Girl’ by the Temptations and I entered the church to John Barry’s London 1946. We played Jim Reeves’ ‘I love you because’ during the ceremony, which Kurt said was the first time anyone had done, and it expressed exactly how we feel about each other.
I also had a full-length traditional veil. My matron of honour wore ivory and lilac. I chose pastel colours with pinks and creams and the bouquet included peonies, roses and carnations. The idyllic Chapel in La Virginia, which again was shown to us by Marbella Wedding Angels was decorated with cream flower arrangements and a red carpet. It had such a romantic feel. We had a traditional Spanish theme, which included mother of the bride and mother of the groom lighting candles, which we then lit as our Unity candle.
The residents of La Virginia had put out bunting, and photos were taken on the steps outside the Chapel and near the fountain and our guests threw rose petals as confetti.
‘Yellow’ by Coldplay played as we signed the register and the exit song was Jackie Wilson ‘Your love keeps lifting me higher’.
Delicious Dining The food was simply exquisite. We began with canapés for our cava reception; quale, tempura prawns, olives, Spanish ham, cheese and breads and dipping oils. Next came the starters; satay and tempura of langoustines with soya dip, prawn cocktail with a touch of

Real Weddings chili, marinated salmon with ginger and lemon. And for the main course we had tournedos of beef or crispy poulard with Asian aromas. For desserts we had a sorbet and a sweet dessert surprise. ONE WORD – Amazing! Dancing all night The music for the reception was provided by 2true Entertainment – Motown duo. The singers, Simone and Michael, were incredible! Everyone commented on them and we were all on our feet to dance immediately. Included My Girl – The Temptations, Eta James - At Last, Lionel Ritchie – I just called to say I love you and Aretha FranklinNatural woman. Spanish touch The cava reception was downstairs in the courtyard where there were orange and lemon trees and a fresh water stream. This outdoor reception was traditionally Spanish themed, with bread, hams, cheese and olives. At the meal inside the restaurant the staff stood behind and lifted the covers off everyone’s plates in time to the music, which
was fabulous. The staff were all so attentive and the attention to detail was exceptional. The tables were beautifully decorated and included a red rose behind mine and Reggie’s chairs. Picture Perfect We chose Julia Roder for our wedding photos. Jenny Black recommended a number of photographers and we chose Julia after looking at her work online. She also provided a videographer. We had the opportunity to meet with her the day before the wedding and we were absolutely delighted with the final results. Magic moments I don’t think we could pick a favourite moment, as the whole day was simply magical from start to finish. My matron of honour Elaine and I had our makeup done by Nicola Mc George who was fantastic and I could not recommend her highly enough. She is a wonderful person both inside and out. Our hair was style by Emma from Golden Tarts in Puerto Banus who was fabulous too. One wonderful moment was when I came out of the hotel room and the Spanish maids were waiting for me and sang the traditional song – Virgen del

Carmen. I had been talking to one of the maids early that day and said it was my wedding day and they waited for me. This was so emotional. Everything was organised so perfectly and it was a day to celebrate with family and friends. When my dad walked me down the steps of an old Spanish pueblo, into the church past the fountain and up to the alter to meet Reggie - Wow! That was a special moment. If I had to do it again, I would change… There is nothing at all we would have changed! It was simply magical! If I were to offer any advice to brides to be it would be planning! We had planned our wedding in great detail. Finding the perfect wedding planner was key to making our dreams come true. We can honestly say that we didn’t expect it to be that incredible and our guests were amazed and blown away with the whole day. I would say it is important to enjoy the whole experience from start to finish. Having a video of the event has also been precious as when you are caught up in the moment you miss things but we can relive it over and over with the video. Remember how you got to this point and those family and friends who are important and travelled to share what is the best day of your lives.

Stars IN THE
When Ismael and Pilar both set off to walk the pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago with their friends, they never imagined that they were beginning their journey to the altar together. Walk of Love We were both on the same hiking trip, walking the Camino de Santiago in 2012 with friends that we have in common, so it’s thanks to them that we are together today. Ismael is from Cádiz and I am from Seville. The Camino de Santiago gave us the opportunity to meet each other as we walked and talked a lot about our lives. It was a time for reflection - much like the original pilgrimage taken by apostle Santiago. It is considered a spiritual adventure and a break from daily routine. When it was time to leave we knew that we would meet again one day… And that is exactly what happened. Destiny meant that we met again on the first of November of that year. So our story began… and finally we were married on the 25th of July 2015, coinciding with the day of the apostle Santiago!
The perfect location We chose to get married in Estepona mainly for its excellent front line beach location, between Cádiz and Estepona and for its wonderful views of the African continent and Gibraltar. Our search for a wedding venue started a year ago and, whilst we were still deliberating between different venues with similar locations, we met María Sánchez, our wedding planner at the H10 Estepona Palace. It was perfect. We had utter confidence in María, she put our minds at ease immediately so we knew this would be our venue. We were won over by the H10, which promised excellent service, and the staff were attentive and professional. The hotel’s setting is spectacular and the sunset there is simply magical.
It was a very important day of our lives as we were having 230 guests, so we wanted it to be a great success. Thanks to Maria we were absolutely delighted. Her empathy, understanding and close working relationship with us were paramount to our peace and calm and her professionalism and passion for organising weddings was contagious. She was a big part of one of the most important days of our lives, thank you Maria!

Vintage Touch I had very clear image in my mind of what I wanted. I am very romantic and love a vintage touch, so we themed everything in that style. We chose soft colors like beige, pink and white, both for the decoration at the church and the hotel. My wedding dress was very romantic and comfortable, in accordance with our theme. A typically Mediterranean Spanish menu was tailored to our needs and wishes, offering different stands; such as a cheese trolley, fried potato

chips and fried almonds “typical of Andalusia” and fried fish, including Malaga anchovies, which were all served on the Mediterranean chill out terrace enlivened with Jazz music by Monica. The gala dinner took place in the wonderful Restaurant Thalassa, which allowed us to enjoy the magic of the night and the candlelight, which illuminated the centrepieces; vintage cages with natural flowers and table runners that had been handmade for us with sackcloth and ears of corn. These pretty details really meant so much to us…
Snap happy Our photographer was Juan de Haro, who has been photographing for many years. He is very innovative and offers such natural albums. We had the chance to enjoy the company of our guests without having to move around so we felt very comfortable all the time. Without any doubt we recommend his excellent services - if you are looking for an unforgettable memory for the rest of your life. He was very patient with us and the results were better that expected.
Cocktail time The cocktail service was our favourite moment of the day as it was the time we could enjoy the company of our guests on the wonderful terrace, something that the majority of the couples can´t enjoy as they use that time to have their pictures taken. Another wonderful moment was the surprise that Ismael gave me with unexpected fireworks!
If I had to do it all again I’d change… Nothing at all! Everything was excellent and I would recommend every element of our wedding 100%. My advice for couples getting married would be to enjoy the experience as much as they can as they can it is one day of our lives that can’t be repeated. Live it to the end! … oh and a lot of love!

Gaelic Glamour Michelle and Rob brought a quaint Spanish villa to life with vintage details and handmade touches. Irish Charm We met in 2011 on one of my work nights out in Dublin city centre. Rob had joined my colleague Alan, (the best man) at the pub we were drinking in. At the end of the night we both ended up at the bar chatting and soon realised everyone else had left us, thanks guys, so we were stuck with each other! Neither of us wanted to go home, so we had a few more drinks and decided to go and find some food. We never actually made it to a restaurant as we ended up sitting at the central bank in Dame Street until seven in the morning talking. The next day was spent texting each other and we went on our first official date the following Wednesday. From that point onwards we have been inseparable and there hasn’t been a day since that we haven’t seen each other. 84 CONFETI
Something Different We decided right from the start that we didn’t want a traditional Irish wedding. We wanted to give our guests a completely different experience, one that they would always remember. We both agreed that we would prefer an intimate wedding so that we could spend quality time with our guests rather than the usual HUGE Irish affairs. After much deliberation we settled on a destination wedding in Spain, not only did Spain tick all the right boxes but we would also be guaranteed sunshine, (or not as we later found out, there were a few light showers on the day but thankfully the sun came out just in time for our ceremony). We looked at a number of venues in Spain but none of
them seemed to have that special something or they simply didn’t feel right. When we visited Villa Josephine in Nueva Andalucia we both knew straight away that it was the ideal place to hold our wedding. Not only did it feel intimate and secluded, but there was a beautifully picturesque garden which was perfect for holding our ceremony and a stunning terrace area for our reception. We didn’t really like the idea of our guests having to travel from one place to another on the day, so Villa Josephine provided everything we needed under one roof. Aisle Style As we were having a destination wedding, I wanted to find a dress that I would not only be comfortable, but would keep me as cool as possible. A sweaty bride is never a good look. I found THE ONE from Anabelrose in Ireland. It was surprisingly the first dress I tried on and I felt it was perfect for the type of wedding we wanted. We decided that we wanted to have a relaxed feel to our wedding and that our guests and bridal party should be as comfortable as possible on the day. We chose beautiful mint dresses from Coast for the bridesmaids and for the groomsmen we opted for pastel blue trousers and crisp white shirts. Although we liked the thought of full traditional wedding suits, we wanted to buy clothes that our party could wear again. For make-up, my gorgeous maids and I went to Golden Tarts salon in Puerto Banus. The team was excellent and treated us like stars from the moment we walked in. Make-up artist Nicola McGeorge created my bridal look. I pretty much left it down to her as I felt confident that she knew what she was doing. The final look was soft, glowing and natural which complimented my colourings. It was the perfect bridal make-up.
The bridal party hair was done by one of our relatives, Linda Kelly. She has always looked after the hair for every family wedding and special occasions.
We wanted a photographer that could get off-the-cuff photos and Jennifer more than delivered. She was so professional and our guests loved her.
Food For Thought Our wedding had a vintage/rustic theme running through it and we kept the colour scheme light and fresh with creams and whites. Food was very important to us, and a major part of the day. We wanted to provide our guests with great food that suited the occasion. We booked Cortijo Catering Events and they were amazing from the first food tasting to the day itself. Their service was second to none and extremely professional. It was difficult to choose our final menu, as they offer such a great selection. In the end we settled for a selection of Canapes, which included tortilla, smoked salmon, coriander and ricotta cheese tartlets, baby vine tomatoes with mozzarella and basil sauce, Greek feta, olive and cucumber skewers with mint dressing and finally lemon and lime marinated chicken with satay sauce. For our starter we wanted something refreshing so the fans of sweet melon, Serrano ham with raspberry coulis was the perfect choice. The main course of chicken Wellington with a mushroom and pate stuffing and a Madeira wine sauce was too delicious for words. We kept dessert simple with one of our favourites; banana, chocolate and fresh cream crepes.
She mixed in with our wedding party so well that we barely even noticed her taking photographs. We are both quite camera shy and she put both of us completely at ease. The final photos are fantastic and something that we will cherish forever.
Let’s Get The Party Started We decided to forgo a band and just have a DJ provide the music for the day which was a great decision in the end, our DJ Tristan was amazing. All of our guests’ tastes were catered for and the dance floor was packed for the whole evening. The partying never stopped! When the day is over all you are really left with is the amazing memories and the photographs - so investing in the right photographer was paramount. We finally booked Jennifer Jane Photography and she was fantastic.
Dance The Night Away Our favourite moment had to be our first dance, the sun had just set and our venue was full of twinkling lights. It couldn’t have been more romantic.

Venezuelan DREAM When Johanna and Shake fell in love in England and decided to tie the knot, there was only one place to do it - Johanna’s homeland of Venezuela, on the beautiful beaches of Margarita Island.
86 CONFETI
Sightseeing the future I was visiting a girlfriend in England over the holidays and she insisted on introducing me to her friend, I wasn’t interested at first but after getting to know him for 4 days whilst sightseeing in London.... I was totally In love! Island of love I was born in Venezuela and my husband is English, but we always dreamed of a low key ceremony by the beach, so we picked Margarita Island in Venezuela as our ideal wedding spot. Beside the seaside There were so many beautiful places around the island, and my parents were a massive help by visiting them while we were still in England and sending us photos and videos. As soon as we saw this venue, our minds were instantly made up! It was a lovely contemporary beachside house with amazing views of the
beautiful white, sandy beach. We felt so lucky to have found such a breathtaking place. Let the scenery do the talking Since I was organising the wedding from abroad, I decided the best idea would be to keep it simple using white as the main colour theme. The place was so beautiful it didn’t need anything else and the white was a perfect contrast to the sea views at the venue, which really made them stand out. Hora Loca We went with a very relaxed, classic Venezuelan theme. The food was Venezuelan with lots of seafood. We decided on tropical music and celebrated the Venezuelan way with the “Hora Loca” which translates to ‘crazy hour’ and it is a full hour of crazy dancing to famous songs, including a whole set of Venezuelan-African drums. It was
outstanding, everybody had so much fun!
Every cloud has a silver lining
Angel sent from above Arturo Jimenez was our photographer, he was like an angel sent from above! I almost didn’t have a photographer due to last minute flight cancelations to the island but he was so committed to us that he took four connections to be able to get there in time for the wedding. His pictures were amazing and he made us feel so at ease and natural. I loved his unique approach to wedding photography.
The wedding planning company was a bit of a let down but I had to go with flow. I am a very detail orientated person and coming from abroad I had to let go of so many details that were out my control, which was a shame but the day turned out to be perfect.
Happy Tears During the ceremony we almost cried saying our vows, they were so personal and meant so much to us. The live drum set that we had during the party was definitely a highlight, we had so much fun.
Working together Apart from practical things like setting a budget, I would recommend working together on every detail. It makes it so much more enjoyable if you find a way you can both enjoy the process, as it can be very stressful at times! Don’t change your decisions to please other people such as family and friends, this is your day and it’s all about what is going to make you happy. Enjoy every single moment, it all ends sooo quickly!

Ten day wedding extravaganza in Mallorca When Glenn asked Bliss to tie the knot, they decided it wasn’t going to be your average wedding. They wanted their special day to be extraordinary and an unforgettable experience – not just for themselves, but for all of their friends and family too. Their special day turned out to be a whopping special ten days – holidaying on the beautiful island of Mallorca with all of their nearest and dearest. With parties, events and entertainment planned each day, fabulous outings organised and some of the best live acts and world famous DJs flying in for the occasion, Bliss and Glenn’s paradise island wedding was a momentous occasion that no one will forget in a hurry.
Winter Wonderland Bliss and I met at work and I decided to ask her to come to Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park with me to help me with my children. The children and I fell in love with her that day. Paradise Island Mallorca was an obvious choice for us. We have villas here on the island and have been coming over for holidays for years… Mallorca is our second home. We chose the The Nixe Palace Hotel because of the stunning views from the terraces and the helpful and attentive staff.

Timeless elegance… We had traditional timeless theme; classy and elegant. The groom, best man, ushers, sons and page boys all wore classic black suits with crisp white shirts and braces and ties – channeling the Frank Sinatra look. We decided to keep it classic and simple with our flower arrangements also – the bouquets were all white and predominantly white roses. The décor, table arrangements, accessories and decorations were black and gold – simple and stunning. The dress code for our guests was ‘elegant evening wear’ Bliss’ wedding dress was made by Vera Wang and our ceremony was traditional and timeless, boasting a fifteenpiece gospel choir. A touch of Great Britain Despite being in Mallorca, we wanted to bring a taste of England to our wedding – and what’s more British than fish and chips! We chose a Traditional English menu, with favourites that we knew everyone would enjoy. We started with tempura prawn appetisers followed by classic cod and chips with tartar sauce. For the main course we opted for fillet steaks served with Dauphinoise potatoes and pepper sauce. The desserts were our very special cake, lollypop cakes, assorted desserts and biscuits – all served in a Willy Wonka-style area in a party room after the dinner. Superstar music lineup We had the most fantastic array of live music as we’d flown in bands from all corners of the world for our special day.
