CANCER NURSES DAY

Celebrating our exceptional nurses across Australia

What I love most about oncology is getting to help patients through their whole treatment journey – from diagnosis to surgery and treatment to end of treatment and being able to help people when they need it.

I love our patients. We’re by their side during a very unique time of their lives. They’re at their most vulnerable, so you give them a lot and get them through difficult times. It means a lot to be there for someone in this way.

The memories of making a difference in the lives of others, especially my last few years as an oncology nurse, will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Lorna Tyrrell, Registered Nurse, Icon Cancer Centre Redland
I always wanted to be in a career where I could help people and make difference in their lives and oncology nursing has allowed me to do that.
Clare Smith, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Icon Cancer Centre South Brisbane

I have always had a passion for oncology nursing as it is a ground-breaking field where things change every day. Working as an oncology nurse offers a unique opportunity to be involved in revolutionary treatments and trials.

I’ve always found deep fulfillment in connecting with patients and offering support when they need it most, and as a cancer nurse, I get to do this every day.
