Clubs, Societies & Projects are an integral part of the student experience at Imperial. If I could give one piece of advice to incoming students at Imperial, it would be to get involved in things other than studying. Your short time at university is perfect for trying new things, meeting new people and having an amazing time along the way. If you are career driven, it is important to highlight that skills gained by working in teams, planning events or developing a hobby. They are valued hugely by employers, and can make you a more rounded individual. Grab opportunities by the horns, make time to enjoy yourself, and your time at uni could be the most unforgettable experience of your life!

have at Imperial. Firstly, they are a great way to meet people with similar interests and ethics and get together. The huge number of Clubs, Societies & Projects we have guarantees that your interests will be catered for, whether they are sports, outdoor pursuits, or social activities. Secondly, the Clubs, Societies & Projects provide a great way to sample new things for minimal cost – important when you’re living on a student budget. The Union heavily subsidises Club, Society & Project activities so the array of activities is much gentler on your finances. Thirdly, Clubs, Societies & Projects at the College are a great way to gain experience, whether through training with talented individuals, or simply learning to run an organisation or write a budget. These skills will stand you in good stead in the future, both in your personal and professional life. And lastly, one of the most valuable aspects of our hundreds of Clubs, Societies & Projects is that you can try something you may never have considered before, and it may become your favourite hobby. You wouldn’t have the same opportunity anywhere else!

WW Kieron Creagh Deputy President (Finance & Services) dpfs@imperial.ac.uk We Are Metric is your opportunity to host an event at metric, our nightclub. Open to all Clubs, Societies & Projects as well as Halls of Residence, this is a great opportunity to use our fantastic venue for events that your members can enjoy. We Are Metric showcase the best of our Clubs, Societies & Projects and their activities and interests.
In the past there have been many successful events held by students such as Imperial Idol and Battle of the Bands, we are looking for more events like these. For some the scale of some events may seem a bit intimidating, however this shouldn’t put you off, whilst you will need to do a lot of the work yourselves we have an excellent team of staff that are available to help you plan, promote and manage your events!
Hosting one of these nights will be a great way to raise the profile of your group, and you also have the opportunity make a little money as well. The theme of the event doesn’t have to be tied into your group’s core activities; it could simply be an idea you’ve had that you think others will enjoy taking part in so there’s plenty of room to get creative. Although we want as many ideas and people to take part in this process as possible, there are also some things we don’t want. We would like events people can take part in and enjoy, this is what these nights are all about. However we don’t want events that people just come along for just our drink promotions and these nights are not an opportunity for nightclub promoters!
We Are Metric showcases the best of our Clubs, Societies & Projects and their activities and interests. Once you have come up with an idea and want to apply for a We Are Metric night fill in a request form and submit it it to the Deputy President (Finance & Services). A date can then be booked and planning can start. We look forward to receiving your applications! imperialcollegeunion.org/wam
