Two stories of designers: 1. People no longer know why they buy a certain product, what kind of thought there exists behind the design, what kind of material they use, who is the designer? Products are become a brand name, a status, a business card, a thing that reflects our personality. Functionality isn’t the number one anymore. 2. You can use this changing consumer behavioral in your products and make anything you like. Functionality isn’t important. Or you can do something about it and bring the sense and thought behind the product in the picture and make it important again. One designer is taking it as the way it is; If the consumer behavioral is changing than he will go along with it. The other designer(s) want to bring the sense and story behind the design back in the picture. I join that viewpoint. “The story behind your design consist of all the choices you have made during your design process. It is a justification of your design; why this design is just the way it is. It helps you to defend the design to others and it keeps track of the design progression of yourself.” (Kees Dorst – understanding design)
