JOIN US IN MAKING PROMISING FUTURES POSSIBLE FOR EVERY IDAHO CHILD. Greetings, As the Idaho Youth Ranch moves into its sixth decade of successfully assisting and treating at-risk Idaho children and their families, we never stop asking the question, “How can we better serve those we help and those in need? The Idaho Youth Ranch is a place of transformation. We provide a safe haven where kids can gain the confidence and skills to become self-reliant, successful adults. Unfortunately, the need for our services is out pacing our ability to help. As a result, we have developed a long-

This new vision will be accomplished through the combined efforts of our committed employees, our volunteers, our thrift store patrons, our community partners and you. We believe every Idaho child deserves the hope of a promising future. We need your help with financial and in-kind gifts to turn this belief into reality. We invite you to learn more about and join us in supporting Idaho Youth Ranch’s Building Promising Futures Campaign. IDAHO CHILDREN: THE SILENT CASUALTIES

Too many Idaho kids are just one unlucky circumstance away from disaster. They may suffer from:

Too many families in Idaho today experience chronic stress as a result of poverty, domestic violence, divorce, substance abuse and lack of resources to effectively deal with their problems. As a result, children are the silent casualties. With more than 16,400 reported cases of child abuse and neglect Idaho has one of the highest rates of teen suicide in the nation, and the need is growing.*

HEALING AND WORTH

+ An emergency shelter for boys and girls in Boise

For 63 years, the Idaho Youth Ranch has served these vulnerable, hurting and broken children. It began in 1953 when Methodist minister Reverend James Crowe and his wife, Ruby Carey Crowe, dreamed of and created a safe, caring ranch where boys in trouble could heal, realize their potential and grow up to be responsible Idahoans.

+ A youth and family therapy center in Coeur d’Alene

Today, the Idaho Youth Ranch has evolved and expanded to meet the needs of changing times. The Ranch serves both girls and boys, and the healing power of animals has become a foundation of treatment. Our 29 thrift stores generate revenue for our therapeutic programs, give away free books to children and provide job readiness and employment training for young people in Boise. The original campus in Rupert, Idaho, served the state and her children well. However, what once were considered the Ranch’s greatest attributes became a hindrance to providing the most effective services possible. Distance from families, limited access to community services, aging buildings and isolation from primary population centers reduced the Ranch’s potential to help more kids.

A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR MORE IDAHO CHILDREN Now is the time to take all we’ve learned about what works and invite others to help us create a brighter future for even more of Idaho’s children. The new Idaho Youth Ranch will be a unique place in the Treasure Valley where multiple youth-focused organizations can join together on a campus of exceptional natural beauty. Together we will create a gathering place for kids to heal, learn, play and connect to the people and experiences that will result in healthy, productive lives. Animals are a unique and important part of Idaho Youth Ranch therapy. Youth are given a 4-H animal to raise, care for and show at the county fair. This teaches life lessons,

The new campus will provide ample space and opportunity to expand our current services to Idaho’s most vulnerable youth while also engaging in prevention and early intervention services. Activities and partnerships with other youth-serving organizations will allow Idaho Youth Ranch to serve an estimated 10,000 kids each year.
