Spiel: s h t y M l l a b t o Fo
An infographic poster on one of football’s greatest forgotten teams: the Wunderteam - Austria 1930-1938 Football poster designed for the football & art magazine SPIEL. The brief was about a piece of Football Myth, and I chose the Austrian Wunderteam o f the 1930s. The t eam was was r evolutionary and featured a host of star players such as Josef Bican, Anton Schall, and ‘Der Paperienne’ Matthias Sindelar – the star player. Unfortunately the team was plagued by bad luck and Adolf Hitler’s intervention of Austria. I included a set of infographics detailing stories, myths, appearances and goals for each player of the Wunderteam. The design was inspired by the Austrian style of Isotype picture between 1925 and 1934.
Cosm ic Sco users Mind Map
An infographic on Liverpool’s Psychedelic musical connections records, genres, people, venues and bands! A companion piece with my dissertation in a visual form. I wanted to celebrate L iverpool’s rich modern musical culture and the revival it is experiencing; through the venues and nights to the various f estivals and i nfluences f rom abroad and home. A s I’ve shown, Liverpool is highly connected, and highly influential. nebulas were one of the styles I experimented, but I decided to go in a simpler design direction and took influence from the LSD chemical structure and how they were connected together. This eventually led me to look at other chemical structures and how they’re organised, and b y organising m y mind map (the bands, v enues, era colours etc) e ventually a coherent mapping o f the L iverpool P sychedelic story is shown – inspired by LSD.

Vonlenska
A visual language based on the made-up language sung by Icelandic band Sigur Ros. Project inspired by Icelandic musicians Sigur Ros and their gibberish language ‘Vonlenska’. An attempt to “create” a form of language through the medium of dissecting the phonology of gibberish, and combining this with musical terminology; developing a system of symbols representing the song ‘Untitled 8 (Popplagið)’ on their 3rd album ( ). Using I celandic folklore, mythology and V iking runic languages, a beautiful end product came into fruition. Drawing i nfluence f rom the ancient r unic language o f Iceland and their magical stamps for runes, I began to experiment with unique runic variations for each ‘sound’. Initially these designs started quite basic, with each phonological sound being represented by a symbol.
MaryD ei Llais i o falwyr / A Voice for Car ers
Designing and re-branding the social enterprise MaryDei, a business set in North Wales. Vintage MaryDei are a social enterprise helping carers. As a small business which sell vintage clothes, it was vital to get their voices heard on the web and across Wales. Expansion was key and so a re-branding was needed in order to replicate the direction where Vintage MaryDei was heading. Firstly, we wanted to drop the “vintage” from the main brand name, shortening it to “MaryDei” (named after the owner’s parents) so that the care aspect was the heart of the brand. Secondly, revise the colour scheme and update the website’s design for more interactivity and t o produce a m ore inviting layout f or customers.
The t ypography change was t o reflect t he m ore elegant s ide of MaryDei and their vintage stock, but also have a bold type for the main important message behind the social enterprise.
