This winter has been harsh in more ways than one, but a new season is finally here, bringing with it warmer weather and a feeling of hope. This spring, it might be a good idea to create new habits and concentrate on mental and physical health. Here are five ways to focus on your well-being this spring.

Changing Your Eating Habits
You don’t have to be on a restrictive diet to practice more mindful eating, and spring is the perfect time to start. Try seeking out some local produce at farmers markets and local grocers. Additionally, focusing on a more seasonal approach to food can both lead you to new healthy recipes and ensure that you find truly fresh foods, plus spring and summer are best for produce such as berries, artichokes, asparagus, and squash. Yum!
Getting on Your Feet
Now that the frost has melted and the sun has returned, it is time to shed the layers and get up off the couch. Spring often presents the perfect weather for walking, jogging, biking, or picking up a racket. There are many ways to be active and stay socially distant, especially outdoors. For example, golf has risen in popularity during the pandemic. Plus, exercise has the added bonus of providing you with endorphins.
Switching up the Spa
Another everyday wellness staple is visiting the spa. However, this past year has been anything but common, so spas are now adapting to the changing times with some unconventional treatments. Touchless treatments such as cryotherapy, float tanks, and saunas, as well as both more meditative and technologically-advanced treatments, have become more common during the pandemic, according to Travel Weekly. These new treatment methods are helping people relax without compromising on safety.
Getting off Social Media
It’s important to note that wellness is as much about the soul as it is about the body. This past year, we may have felt glued to our televisions and phone screens more than ever. But, as the country starts opening up more and warm weather comes around again, it may be time to close out of Facebook and Instagram and lean into what is right in front of us. Taking a break from screens for a few days could free up some time to read a book, get out in nature, or start on spring cleaning.
Giving Back
According to Forbes, this year will mark a transition from a year of focusing on ourselves to focusing on our communities at large. There are boundless options for how you can donate your time. If you are itching to get out of your house, there’s always a need for volunteers for local beautification projects, animal shelters, and food banks. If you aren’t comfortable doing in-person activities quite yet, some websites can match you with virtual volunteering opportunities based on your areas of interest. Volunteering can not only benefit your community, but your mental health as well.
