The past few years have generated record-breaking sales across the U.S. and beyond. Over 30,000 Ideal-LIVING readers relocated in 2021, according to the U.S. Postal Service Change of Address, mainly seeking lower taxes and warmer weather. Each year Ideal-LIVING surveys our readers, and we like to share those results with you so you can see what others are looking for. We compared our results with the results from the 2021 United VanLines Study and found a lot of similarities, especially where people are moving from and where they are moving to.

Of the readers we surveyed, close to 60% said they are just beginning their search, and 67% percent said they would not relocate before they retire. And, as usual, proximity to quality health care is of primary importance. Another thing that has not changed is their desire for walking trails, fitness centers, and shopping and dining experiences. Retirees desire a healthy lifestyle. They want to spend their time exercising socializing.
