GEORGIA SEA ISLANDS
An Enjoyable Environment
The Sea Islands of Georgia are a diverse collection of Atlantic Ocean barrier islands that shelter 137 of the most beautiful miles on the intracoastal waterway. The north-to-south route begins with Tybee Island, a long-time favorite destination for Savannah day-trippers and vacationing families who enjoy its historic sites and casual vibe. Ossabaw and Sapelo are undeveloped islands that are only accessible by boat and the respective homes of a 9,000-acre nature preserve and traditional Gullah-Geechee communities. St. Simons and Sea Island feature world-class oceanfront resorts and tournament-host golf clubs. At the same time, Jekyll Island is a state-owned vacation destination with 20 miles of bike paths, a huge water-fun park, and elegant Jekyll Island Club accommodations.
