Light & Bright
Unqiue treatments by Bill Clark Homes
Keeping interiors light and bright, especially in the kitchens, is a trend seen in most areas of the country. According to Robin Campbell of Bill Clark Homes, they are seeing more clean lines and sleek looks with natural accents. And in the bathrooms, statement tubs are back.
“We bring unique ways to use standard items. With the volume of houses that we build, not every home is a custom home, but we offer strategic upgrades that make it feel that way. We will take our trim work in unique spaces with different trim patterns with wainscoting in the foyer and accent walls in a bedroom. For instance, we have a herringbone shiplap wood tile on the fireplace (see top right image). We try to use the same products in unique ways. That’s where our design team is able to use their imagination and get creative.”
“It is a different world in building today than if you have done it before. I think if someone finds a place that they love, I would not wait to purchase because there is no guarantee that it it will be there when you get back.” com·mu·ni·ty { noun, often attributive } pronounced [ kah-luh-wa-see ]

In the heart of Colorado
Located in the valley, Cobble Creek has a unique spot with a moderate climate, where you see golfers playing throughout the year. Randy Griffin, Director of Development, says, “Inventory is at a low that we haven’t seen in a while. Our buyers tend to be empty nesters with larger homes; they don’t want to step down in quality, but want to step down in size. They want to relocate for the climate and lifestyle but want to downsize to a patio home. The lock ’n’ leave exterior maintenance is very appealing for those who like to travel or use as a second home. However, we do build larger homes as well.”
55+ Buyers Age in Place
According to Briget Brubaker of Landmark Homes in Pennsylvania, “A lot of people within the 55+ age range want to age in place. They want a home that will accommodate their needs not only now, but as they age.
I’ve seen a lot of buyers taking a look at the function and flow of their homes. We are seeing continuous flooring throughout the home without transitions, like luxury vinyl planks that run right into the bathrooms, as it’s waterproof through and through.”
For aging in place, homes have an open concept floor plan. And, in the bathrooms, there are flush-entry tile showers, large format tiles on the walls, and seats in the showers. In the kitchens, Landmark continues to use a lot of white cabinetry. Often using blue on the island is is a welcome pop of color. Although most of the appliances tend to be stainless steel, Bridget is seeing more black slate appliances come into play. But, take heed, appliances do have a long lead time.
