FAQ for Idea Lab School Day Camps

Q: What are school day off camps? A: Any day school is off, IDEA Lab offers a camp program at the Idea Lab Campus. Q: What will my child learn through your programs and camps? A: The specific curriculum depends on both the type of IDEA Lab Camp they enroll in and the Theme of that particular day. However, our goal with every program is to change the way children perceive science and scientific concepts. IDEA Lab® methodology is all about a hands-on approach, encouraging participation and engaging children as they’re being educated. IDEA Lab is all about Project-based Learning requires students to go through an extended process of inquiry in response to a complex question, problem, or challenge. do children develop a love for science, engineering, cooking, and art, they develop critical self-esteem at a young age. Each camp day follows a 4 module rotation where campers rotate between a selection of classes including technology, engineering, cooking, art and science, based on the theme of the camp and/or workshop. Q: Where is my camp located? A: Please confirm your camp location by calling in advance or checking enrollment confirmation email or login to your PORTAL LOGIN . We have 7 locations in Houston and now expanding to other cities, and parents have often mistaken where they are signed up. Please confirm your location before the camp start date. Q: What time can I arrive/leave? Extended Care Campers Beforecare / Aftercare Campers: We open our Campus at 7:00 am and close at 6:30 pm. For off-site locations at NWTR before care starts at 8:00 am. You are welcome to drop-off and pickup your campers between those hours. Regular Campers A. Arrival: a. Please check your enrollment confirmation email. You should try to come no earlier than 15 mins before the start of camp. If you choose to come 25 mins before the camp you will be charged 10$ /day additional fee. b. We will not accept the campers after an hour start of camp as it can be a distraction to other students who are already working on their projects. B. Pickup: a. Please pick up the campers within 10 mins of finishing the camp. We will charge $1/ minute for the first 5 mins and $5/ min for any additional time after the first 5 mins. Q: What are my food/drinks options and break schedule? A . Idea Lab Facility does not provides lunch for School Day Camps. Please keep in mind that all Idea Lab facilities are Peanut-Free. We have refrigerators at each location to store camper’s lunches, Campers have a small break at 10:15 am for snacks/beverages and again 3:30pm for extended day campers only. We provide snacks to all campers and it’s included in your camp enrollment fee. Snack can be brought from home as well. Q: What is provided in camp tuition? A: IDEA Lab camps are project-based camps. We provide technology and everything else for camps. On a very rare basis, a child will be asked to bring something from home, but only if it is acceptable by the parent. Q: Important Contact Emails & Phone Numbers – A: Its important to have up-date your contact information on the portal and provide a minimum of two emergency contact information. Q: Anything else? A: Sign in /out for all Idea Lab facilities is done in the lobby where you will say goodbye to your camper. Parents are not allowed in the hallways and rooms due to camper safety. All our Campus locatioons utilize the KidCheck check in station. Please create your account on KidCheck prior to arriving for your first day. For campers aged 5 and under, please pack a change of clothes for any spillage / accidents etc. Please pack these in a small backpack and leave in the camper's cubby each day. Please read the Parents Handbook at available our website. Campers are allowed to bring in personal technology for use only in very specific hours during before and after care only. At all other times, the devices must be kept in the campers cubbies or on the front desk. Campers are not allowed to have wifi access while using their personal technology in order to access the monitoring of accessed content. Idea Lab is not responsible for any breakage or theft of these devices.
