Time Travelers: Age of Dinosaurs

Many centuries ago the land of IDEA was home to scores of species of dinosaurs. Evidence of these amazing beasts can be discovered in our very own dinosaur ridge. Spend the semester learning about these amazing beasts, creating fossils, learning to classify bones, digging for fossils and assembling dinosaur skeletons. Learn Rock classifications and geology lessons as we construct awesome rock and gem collection boards and build your own solar-powered robots to help with the excavation sites. Warning- giant volcanoes will be erupting! All junior paleontologists welcome.
Veterinary Science: Pet Vet Hospital Tour

Want to be a vet? From putting on Lab coats to learning about injuries, this camp will give you a chance to learn a bit about caring for our pets. You will get to learn about how pets’ bodies work and how to care for them when they are sick! From building your own Veterinarian Kit to learning about pet care, you will learn while having an amazing time. Campers will proudly carry a veterinarian bag and the graduation certificate as a graduate of Idea Lab Vet School.
Medical Science: Future Doctors

Little Doctors work on learning about what makes our body work. From learning about digestive systems and building working models of our lungs while studying the respiration process, our Little Doctors are engaged in learning throughout. We learn about casts, sutures and more, and we end the class with a clinic to showcase our talents. One of the most popular camps each year with a fantastic turnout as young campers explore the beginning stages of becoming a doctor. Starting with science exploration and experiments, as well as creative play, the campers enter the world of medicine. Don't have your doctor's bag with you? Don't worry- you will after completing this camp. Campers will proudly carry a doctor’s bag filled with all the necessary tools, as well as a graduation certificate as a graduate of Idea Lab Medical School.

What Fizzes and Crackles? Science, of course. In this IDEA Lab camp we will explore the fun, the messy and the educational concepts behind Chemical Reactions. Create volcanoes to explore the science of reactions, get gooey and slimy to learn about polymers and have a great deal of Scientific fun in the process. Who knew our kitchen could create such a slimy scientific mess? Join our Idea Lab scientists as we mix, measure and pour messy and crazy creations. Genetics, DNA and Dissection
An IDEA Lab camp like no other where campers are exposed to DNA extraction, learning about the inner workings of the heart by building working models and several dissectionsincluding a Sheep’s heart. This is a great class for hands-on learning about anatomy. Take Home Components include various working models of human organs and systems, as well as a DNA book that they will create. 3-6
Hocus Pocus, A Wizarding Science Academy
Luminary. Levitation. Smoldering snakes. What do all of these have in common? Well, they are all needed knowledge to pass the Idea Lab Wizarding Exam. Using science, technology, and our imagination we will test the boundaries of what is real and what is magic, what is science and what is sorcery. Campers, keep your spell books close as you never know when you might need a touch of magic! 3-6

Imagine Pokemon Go meets a Game Design class. Augmented Reality is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality. In this IDEA Lab camp, you will learn to code your own Video Game and then embed 3D animated objects within the game. Code will be provided so that you can continue to expand on your game once the camp ends.

Get familiar with microcontrollers, learn the basics of using electronic components and building your first robot with microcontrollers. This camp is a hands on experience with microcontrollers, motors, sensors, wires, the “nuts and bolts” (pun intended) of real robotics. Utilizing off the shelf “real world” hardware and software, campers will gain valuable robotics skills enabling them to either continue exploration at home or explore new areas of electronics, fun and learning. Once the basics of programming their first microcontroller powered robot is understood, the sky’s the limit to what they can do with these fabulous marvels of technology.

This class is heavy on critical-thinking and problem solving where campers will utilize their Engineering Journals to document thought-provoking hands-on activities in order to fully absorb the creative process of Engineering. Startup Pitch Camp
A camp that teaches kids money management skills via a fun and exciting journey of business ownership and steers them through the steps of conceptualizing, designing and implementing an actual business. Emphasis is placed on fostering creativity, innovation and teamwork, while challenging kids to become more financially accountable and financially savvy. All aspects of starting a business is covered from writing business plans, calculating startup expenses to planning for operating costs, employee management and business oversight. Campers will learn how to pitch to a group of actual investors.

Using Audio Engineering tools campers will work together to create a music video of their choosing. From production to editing, campers will use learn tips and tricks on how to create scenes, design sets, add effects and more. Who knows what these campers will compose! No musical experience needed.

Discover how Hollywood shoots and edits movies, while mastering filmmaking and special effects techniques. Develop a story idea, then turn that concept into a script and a shot-by-shot storyboard of the camera angles. A recipe card follows each recipe so that our budding chefs can create their own recipe book. Each day follows a classic children’s storybook and yummy recipes related to them. Campers will jump from story to story, discovering ways to cook unique recipes. Be sure to come with an empty stomach, and a mind filled with curiosity. We’ll eat happily ever after.

Business product ideas are brought to life with the use of technology, allowing our campers to design and manipulate 3D design models in order to bring their ideas and prototypes to life.
Engineering and Design: Solar Car Racers and Other Cool Gadgets Which makes a car go faster, a High voltage low current Solar Array or A low voltage high current solar array? Find out and race your creations. Learn about the uses and limitation of one of the greenest energy sources available. During this camp there will be individual and team challenges as we work together to learn how to harness the energy of the Sun.
