IDEAL FOUNDATION NEWSLETTER ISSUE 2 IDEAL FOUNDATION DONATES $50,000 TO ‘I AM HOPE’ CHARITABLE TRUST. Ideal Foundation had the privilege of donating $50,000 in support of I AM HOPE and the KEY TO LIFE charitable trust. I AM HOPE is the youth and community focused support group run by The Key to Life Charitable Trust, started by Mike King. For the last three years Key To Life have been promoting positive attitudinal societal change in schools and communities up and down the country, and funding private care and counselling for young people stuck-in-the-mud on waiting lists. Ideal Electrical supports Mike and the Foundation by selling “The KING” a Philips downlight which is available in all our Branches. This special range of products was put together with a key supplier, Signify. The size of this contribution was made possible with the support of all our 2020 supply partners. Many thanks to Signify, Bizline, Marley, Milwaukee, Legrand, Ledvance, Simx, Thorn and Computer Dynamics.

BBBS CHILD MENTOR PROGRAMS Big Brothers Big Sisters, a child mentoring programme based in Rotorua - are one of the latest recipients from the Ideal Foundation. Pictured is Nicki Airey from BBBS, receiving a cheque from Gary Chapman (Foundation Trustee) and Carl Forbes (Ideal Branch Manager Rotorua). BBBS provides a mentoring programme for children to build relationships and positive role-modeling across the community - the Charitable Trust will use the funds to train new mentors. Carl’s Dad is one of the BBBS mentors and Ideal Foundation was pleased to donate $5,000 to support BBBS in making a difference to children living in hardship.

SOUTHLAND CHARITABLE HOSPITAL The Southland Charity Hospital Trust was established in 2019 after Southland local Blair Vining, a man who turned his own tragedy into a battle to ensure better cancer care for his Southland community. After his diagnosis in 2018, Blair was told he had weeks to live, but chronic under-resourcing of the health service in Southland meant he was unlikely to see a specialist before cancer took his life. Blair and his family decided that this needed to change. That’s how Southland Charitable Hospital began and was founded - by the community, for the community. Once completed, it will provide free services to those in the southern half of New Zealand who are unable to access care through the public or private health systems. The Southland Charity Hospital will not receive any Government funding. Instead, it will rely on donations, grants, and the generosity of the wider community keen to help southerners in need. The Ideal Foundation was pleased to donate $5,000 in support of this community project.

REEFTON POWERHOUSE REGENERATION PROJECT Born and bred Reefton sparky Greg Topp is part of a team of locals who formed the Reefton Powerhouse Trust in 2011. The trust want to restore the old hydro scheme on the Inangahua River to its former glory Greg says. The Reefton Powerhouse will add a unique tourism experience for the West Coast, and the site’s significance will be a huge draw card for history buffs. Greg was amazed by the generosity shown by the Ideal Foundation and the support the whole community has for the project. Pat Russell an original member of the Reefton Powerhouse charitable trust board was also blown away by the support for such a cool project. Pictured is the Swedish hydro-turbine, which when up and running will produce electricity to once again light up Reefton. The Ideal Foundation donated $15,000 towards the project by providing electrical products through Ideal Electrical. Regan Dixon, Upper South Island Regional Manager said “Personally, as a proud West Coaster I am privileged and proud to be part of a company able help and be part of community changing projects like this.”
