are so glad you are part of it.
College Signing Day (CSD) is a tradition unlike any other. It began more than two decades ago as IDEA’s promise to parents: “Your child will go to college.” Today, across the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and the Austin metro area, CSD is an opportunity for our seniors to announce a meaningful commitment and for our schools and communities to celebrate everything that led up to this joyful and pivotal moment.
So, if you want to feel inspired, you’re in the right place.
If you want to feel hopeful about the future of our community, our country, and our world, stick around.
If you came to cheer on your own student today, don’t be surprised if you’re screaming for one you have never met.
Across IDEA’s Texas campuses, the 1,966 members of the Class of 2023 have achieved over 9,000 acceptances to colleges and universities across the country. Today we learn where everyone is headed.
While this moment is a culmination of sorts, it also represents a new start for the students who have worked so hard to get here. So many opportunities, adventures, experiences, and challenges lie ahead.
For now, this is a day for celebration. For every senior who declares their college choice on this stage, let’s also celebrate and be grateful for the teachers, counselors, principals, parents, siblings, grandparents, mentors, employers, neighbors, friends, and everyone else who has supported these students.
Class of 2023: Congratulations! You’re going to college.

Class of 2023, Happy College Signing Day!
The day so many of you have anticipated is finally upon us and I couldn’t be happier that the time so many of us eagerly await has arrived!
Today as you announce the universities and colleges that each of you are committing to, we will not only be hearing names but the thousands of hours you spent studying and working on assignments, we will be listening to the voices of your tenacity and grit, we will be listening to the culmination of so much hard work, both seen and unseen.
The Class of 2023 continues to add to the Flagship legacy by earning over 300 college acceptances with 100% of you being accepted to a 4-year university and at least half of you being accepted into a Tier I or Tier II university. What an incredible accomplishment.
As you transition into this new chapter of your lives, remember all of the steps you took that led you to this path and how you might be able to use those skills as you continue on. Your smiles, presence, ideas, and vibrant energy will be missed in our hallways, but we know you will do great things and that our halls will always be ready to welcome you with open arms.
Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS IDEA QUEST!
To the Mighty Trailblazing Class of 2023, Congratulations on one of your many accomplishments!
As one-chapter closes, another one opens. Many of you have been waiting for this moment for a long time. The moment when you walk up to the stage and with great pride reveal the university you will matriculate to. Today we recognize and celebrate you as you prepare to embark on a new journey. It gives me great comfort to know that 100% of you will stay true to the promise of matriculating to college and graduating in 4 years.
For now, stop and embrace this moment and celebrate all of your accomplishments you earned throughout your years at IDEA. Many of you will reflect today and say, where did the time go? But as you reflect, don’t forget to recognize those who supported and guided you since you first started your journey at Quest. As you look at the road ahead, you will embark on your future journey, making decisions that will forever impact your life.
As an administrator for the past 8 years, I can say I am extremely proud of you, and I have no doubt you will make an impact in the world - I feel confident to say, you all have learned how to stand up when you fall down and know how to be resilient and work towards goals. Take honor in everything that you do and don’t hold back no matter what challenges you think you will face.
While I am hopeful for what your contributions of leadership, citizenship, passion, hard work, and dedication will bring to our communities, I wish every single one of you the best in your next chapter of education and don’t forget to enjoy your personal life.
Class of 2023- On behalf of the teachers, staff, and administration, I thank you for never giving up even when it got difficult; you embody what a TRUE Trailblazer is.
Congratulations once again and GOOOOOOO Trailblazers!!

CONGRATULATIONS IDEA TOROS!
Class of 2023,
When I think of your journey, it is as varied as a favorite tamales order from Delia’s. Some of you started with us as founding 7th graders in a middle school classroom, and you have grown with Toros. Others came along the way, coming for different reasons, but staying ultimately because you believed that your dreams would be helped along here. Still others joined us for the final leg of the journey, knowing that the transition to college would make all sacrifices worth it. Your unique make-up has created a special flavor for this graduating class that stands out.
Along the way, you learned to choose between the weight of the future and the joy of the present. You have become role models for those who come after you, setting the standard of what it means to be a Toro. You have been in non-traditional settings, working just as hard on the floor of a weight room or hallway as you do at a desk in a classroom. You have had to be flexible, shifting quickly when Plan A is no longer working, and sometimes jumping into Plan B and C with little notice. You have become leaders, advocating for each other and also being the first to call each other out when you know you can be better.
You are, as always, the CEO of your life, and the choices you have made are a reflection of your character and commitment to creating opportunities in your future. As you now commit to the next four years of your life, I am proud to have been a small part of your journey. Never forget that your character comes first, for it is in respect and empathy that you connect with others. It is in integrity and humility that you become worthy of the success you are creating for yourself. In discipline and work ethic you create excellence in all you do, and it is in that excellence born of character that opportunities will present themselves to you. I am more confident than ever that your future holds promise. You have always had potential, and as I see your growth over your time at Toros, I know that you will go beyond the expectations that you and your loved ones have for your future. I believed in you yesterday.
I believe in you today. I believe who you will be tomorrow. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for you. I cannot wait to see you show the world who you are…and wherever you go, know that you will always be part of our family at Toros. I am so very, very proud of you!

CONGRATULATIONS IDEA WESLACO!
Dear Class of 2023,
The time has finally come to celebrate your commitment to college. Your time at IDEA Weslaco has come and gone, and it is time for you to push forward to the next chapter of your lives. Since last summer, you have been meeting with your counselors, researching colleges, writing essays, and perfecting applications, all while still maintaining your classroom learning. Your path has come to this day, and now it is time for you to be honored for your college choice.
In your future, you will find that many challenges will come your way. Some days will be easy, while others are not. Your life will be challenging, and lessons learned will come from mistakes you make...or just from life experience itself. Enjoy your journey through all times good or bad, for it is the struggles that make us stronger and teach us something.
I would like to thank you for your support and patience throughout this year. Your kindness is evident in how you met me where I am and reminded me of who I am. My hope is that you can give grace to others through your life seeing that this is a gift you give back to an imperfect world.
Though I will miss you on our campus, I look forward to hearing of your successes after graduation. Congratulations, WeslaCOLTS Class of 2023!

CONGRATULATIONS IDEA WESLACO PIKE!
Mighty Maverick Class of 2023,
To say that I’m proud of this moment would be an understatement. Throughout your time at Pike CP you’ve been challenged, motivated, and nurtured to be able to walk the stage today and name the college and university of your choice. Ultimately you have been the driver of your journey to this moment. Always remember that you’ve accomplished so much when you begin to doubt your ability to grow and be successful.
A big part of becoming a successful college student is going to be the “ganas”—the will-- to get up every morning and face the day. This year I’ve seen you get up, participate in class, be a part of extra curriculars, help at home, have a part time job, and more. You’ll need to dig deep for the “ganas” when you feel tired and have to be an adult. You can do it and we will be here if you ever need that push or words of encouragement.
A memory I will always carry of the Class of 2023 is your sweet nature and desire to meet academic expectations. As middle school students you were ready to make your teachers proud and in high school you continued to excel in academics. Every year you were a much-anticipated cohort. In college you’ll need to continue to have the same drive for academic excellence and respect for your professors and classmates.
Coming back home to Maverick Nation and being your proud principal has been a beautiful and blessed moment for me. My hope for you is that in a few months you step onto your college campus and feel right at home. And remember that we love you and always will.
