SummerBOOST Greetings IDEA parents! We are excited to announce SummerBOOST! We hope you’ll be excited to partner with us as we work together to improve your child’s performance over the summer. We know that you work hard with your child’s teachers and campus leaders all year to improve your child’s performance, and we celebrate together when your child is performing on grade level or is accelerating. However, some of this hard work can be undone over the summer. Studies have shown that students who do not read or practice math skills during the summer can lose up to two months of academic skills. For our students that means when they come back in the fall their teachers can spend up to one month of valuable time reviewing concepts that were already taught the year before. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE CAN WORK TOGETHER TO CHANGE THIS! To prepare for this successful change, we ask that you talk to your child and plan together to do the following over the summer: • Read for 30 minutes per day: Monday – Friday • Practice Math Skills for 30 minutes per day; Monday - Friday • We want our students and families to be successful in meeting their summer goals, so we will be providing the following support: 1. This fun-filled playbook to keep your child engaged and learning all summer long. 2. A list of public libraries in your area. We’ve also included the addresses so you and your child(ren) can visit them, participate in ongoing activities, check-out books, and read together! 3. We know there are a lot of amazing books out there, so we’ve provided a suggested reading list for your child’s grade level to help you choose books that will challenge your child while they work to meet their goals.

Sincerely,

IDEA BOOST Team

Atentamente,

IDEA BOOST Team
