Arlington County Courthouse Plaza Renovation Arlington, VA 180,000 sf
Arlington County originally hired Gensler for the interior build-out of nine workplace floors of the Arlington County Courthouse Plaza building. Our scope increased to include a renovation of the atrium and exterior facade. When it came to the renovation of the base building, there was an opportunity to re-think the entry and public areas to make them more welcoming. A new entrance was added to Clarendon Boulevard to create more street presence and increase visibility. The new entry features a two-story glass curtainwall that brings light into the previously dim atrium. Additionally, Gensler opened up two staircases to create a stronger visual connection to the newly upgraded service counters on the second and third floors. Gensler also completed environmental graphic design services throughout the space. These graphics reinforce the Arlington County brand in addition to creating an enhanced visitor experience.
