We’re sprung from the tradition of the metal guild workshops that were founded by metal master craftsmen in the 17th century. These supplied King Karl XI’s army, during a time in history when Sweden was a mighty military power in Europe. Our company has taken care of our legacy, our heritage of craftsmanship and quality for over 350 years, skills handed down from generation to generation, taught by master to apprentice. Today the same skills are mastered by our team in our factory in Kuressaare, Estonia, where the majority of our products are produced.

We develop tailor-made products, in close cooperation with our customers, sometimes engaging external designers. We are also proud to be Purveyors to the Swedish Royal Court, an honor that bears witness to our high-quality standards.

By combining traditional handicraft with state-of-the-art production techniques, we create contemporary products for modern times. Throughout history, we have designed and manufactured thousands of uniform insignias, awards, medals, brand signs, and sports awards, symbols of recognition and achievements that strengthen the identities of both the giver and the receiver.

Our products are meticulously developed by our skilled team that are continuously trained to maintain quality excellence. We are ISO certified, we follow sustainability regulations, and apply energyand waste management and sustainable production methods and materials.

Sporrong is the leading manufacturer of high-quality uniform accessories for all professions that use uniforms: Police, Armed Forces, Customs, shipping companies, airlines, etc.

Badges, buttons and emblems are important to everyone who wears a uniform. Sporrong makes a large proportion of the personal equipment used by people who wear uniforms.

Brand signs

By attaching an emblem to a product, we help our customers to elevate the sense of quality and to boost the status of their products. We call this ‘Brand Signs’.

Carl Dagg

Background

The brand is relatively new and was started by two recently graduated art students, Carl Cyrén and Carl Samuelsson. The idea was born when, after a fun and, in a double sense, wet night out, they got no protection from the small and bad umbrella they brough with them. They also realized that the solution would have to be for them to create an umbrella themselves.

Challenge

The duo united in the ambition to create an umbrella that was both stylish, sturdy and functional. Every detail of the umbrella would be carefully selected. To give the umbrella its special signature, work began with producing a small, more exclusive push button at the end of the leather strap, which is used when the umbrella is folded. Together with Carl Dagg, Sporrong had creative meetings where we went through ideas and came up with various proposals.

Results

We created buttons in several different materials so that Carl Dagg could carefully test which would suit their concept. The choice fell on a bronze button.

Royal Warrant

Sporrong has been a Royal Warrant since 1965. In the past, there were over a thousand purveyors to the court, but today it is more demanding and theres only 120 companies left that may use the coveted title.

We are professionals and responsibility for people and our environment is important to us.

To us responsibility means insight, caring and accurate monitoring in everything we do. Throughout our long history, continuous development has always been important and sustainable care and monitoring is an integral part of our culture today.

Our modern production facilities enable a transparent production process and the development of environmental responsibility. We follow sustainability regulations and apply energy- and waste management and sustainable production methods and materials.

We are currently working with the EU on a circular economy project focusing on acids in our production facilities. We are also investing in recycling materials on our premises. Precious metals are recyclable, so when a product reaches the end of its life cycle, the materials can be used again and again.

Quality craftsmanship How we work

In our corporate culture, experience, care and creativity is present in everything we do. We strive to maintain the highest quality standards and services, as is to be expected from a company that is granted the high-quality mark as Purveyors to the Swedish Royal Court.

Our own metal and enamel factory on the island Ösel in Estonia is state of the art. Estonia has strong and well-known craftsmanship traditions and our people impersonate these qualities, always delivering to meet our clients’ needs and desires. Our products are meticulously developed, and we continuously train to maintain skills and high quality in our craftmanship and processes. Production excellence is maintained by testing and constantly updating methods, materials, and design.

We have held ISO 9001 certification for our quality management system since 1999 and an ISO 14001 environmental management certificate since 2008 – proof of a job well done. We hope our customers recognise our professional pride in quality management and sustainable development, which these certificates demonstrate.

We cooperate with the best leading designers and artisans to add uniqueness. Swedish design icons Carl Milles and Carl Eldh created medal designs for Sporrong in the early 20th century, and today we have leading Scandinavian designers in our entourage.
