Argentine Art Season
As Managing Partner of Henley & Partners UK, I am delighted to welcome you to our Argentine Art Season exhibition, the first in our patrons of the arts series. It has been a real pleasure to welcome the work of Adriana Zaefferer, Florencia Fernรกndez Alonso and Hernรกn ร lvarez Forn into our offices, and in turn to welcome you to experience it. For me personally this is particularly exciting as the first work of art I purchased, back when I was 22 in Canada, was by an Argentinian artist. From the wider perspective of Henley & Partners, the firm of global citizens, we wish to platform and promote art and culture from across the world. I wish to thank the artists, the Embassy of the Republic of Argentina in the United Kingdom and the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce who have been so supportive in partnering to create this very special exhibition.

Hernán Álvarez Forn Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1959, Hernán Álvarez Forn is a self-taught painter and sculptor. Using different techniques from various disciplines, he has developed his own style when producing works combining metal, wood, stone, raku and wire. Hernán favours raku as it reflects colour and depth, while wire gives shape and movement to a sculpture. Raku, meaning peace and happiness, is a traditional technique used to make ceramics in Korea and Japan. When heated, colours can range from metallic reds to mother of pearl depending on the heating technique and composition of the material. Raku is therefore a complex mixture in which the four elements — earth, fire, water and air — intervene to make original and unique pieces. To date, his work has been shown in local exhibitions but mostly goes to private collections in the US, Great Britain, France and South American countries. His sculptures are in the collections of distinguished personalities such as King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands among others.

Adriana Zaefferer Adriana Zaefferer was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1952. Without any formal academic training Zaefferer has mastered the techniques of pastel drawing, oil painting, printmaking and sculpture. She specializes in horse portraiture and has learned to paint groups of horses accompanied by trainers, grooms, riders and owners, as well as racing scenes and polo contests. Like Munnings, whose influence she readily acknowledges, she succeeds in capturing on paper or canvas the individual characteristics of the animals she depicts, their bone structure and musculature, and the colour and sheen of their coats. The artist’s international clientele includes HM Queen Elizabeth for whom painted the 1974 Prix de Diane winner, Highclere, and her dam, Highlight. To date, the artist has shown her work in exhibitions in Argentina and Great Britain such as at The Tryon and Moorland Gallery and the Wildenstein Gallery among others. Paintings by her are in the collections of such renowned connoisseurs of fine horses as Paul Mellon, Daniel Wildenstein, Robert Sangster, Sue Countess of Huntingdon, Caroline Countess of Lonsdale and others.

Florencia Fernåndez Alonso Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951, Florencia Fernåndez Alonso has taught art at her studio for over 30 years and has developed a new generation of artists. Florencia’s work has been shown in several exhibitions in her native Argentina as well as in New York, Miami and other South American countries such as Uruguay, Chile and Brazil. Working very closely on her artworks for months at a time, playing with her instincts and her free spirit, she generates a climax through the effects of lights, shades and tints of tonal colours allowing the viewer to contemplate their own reminiscences of places visited or explored. Today many of her paintings are hanging in private collections in the UK, France, Spain, Belgium, Canada, the US and Latin American countries.
