P R O P ER P R O CE D U RE F O R D EALING W I T H P R O B LE M VALV ES Attempting to break a valve loose by using torque in excess of the valve manufacturers recommendations can damage or break the valve stem. Should the valve break, the consequences could be costly causing property damage or personal injury. Using the SlickStick™ and an impact wrench can help prevent this situation.

By using Hurco’s SlickStick, you will improve your chances of saving your hard to operate valves. Corrosion, rust and sediment will seize a valve stem where it passes through the valve stem retaining collar. Hurco’s special penetrating fluid will attack this corrosion, rust and sediment, and help loosen the valve stem. In the rare instances where the SlickStick isn’t enough, you can use a high-impact torque wrench. Impact torque will apply short bursts of high energy to help break the corrosion and rust loose. This is less damaging to the valve stem than straight line torque.
