Inaugurated in 2009, the Internacional Design Hotel has created a new concept of hospitality combining the best of both worlds: a centenary hotel in a charming, historic building in the heart of Lisbon and an audacious project that fuses a creative atmosphere with the best of contemporary design. Its location in the Square D. Pedro IV, better known as Rossio, where the notable past and the vanguard of a cosmopolitan city meet, is one of the strengths that will make your stay memorable - at the center of the biggest attractions of the city, close to the romantic castle of São Jorge, five minutes walking distance from the Tagus river, close to the Avenida da Liberdade home of major international luxury brands and near Chiado, the trendy neighborhood.
Leading a requalification wave of historical buildings and monuments and the opening of new spaces in the city’s downtown, the Internacional Design Hotel commits itself to constant renewal, always making room for improvement. In 2013, the hotel prepares for the third renovation since its reopening aspiring to offer an ever increasing quality both in rooms as well as in service. This time the renovation consists of a new space concept and a new restaurant: Bistrô & Gâteau, made in Portugal, a tribute to the famous hotel’s Tea House from the 1950s.

With a project supported by several renowned architects, designers and artists, the ambience and style designed for each of its four floors creates distinct environments- Urban, Tribe, Zen and Pop. Inspired by the four continents and bringing full meaning to the Internacional in the hotel’s name, the concept is developed in every detail, using sounds, smells, textures and images combined in an innovative and
creative way, offering a unique experience where nothing was left to chance. The library, located on the top floor, was designed to recreate three distinct spaces, where reading and meeting spaces coexist harmoniously with a business center. Bistro and Gâteau Following on the Portuguese dinning tradition, the Internacional Design hotel commits itself to signature cuisine, fusing traditional flavors with a contemporary twist. The idea is to share the timeless Portuguese gastronomy bringing it forward with the sophistication of the future yet to come. The tea house, with the best of Portuguese pastries, will have available a selection of snacks and a lunch & dinner menu, where Portuguese flavors and aromas can be enjoyed. Member of
Rossio Wine Bar Comfortable and sophisticated, it is the perfect place to enjoy a drink or cocktail, or taste a selection of wines from the best Portuguese wineries. The Internacional Design Hotel excellence has not gone unnoticed. Additionally to all the regular services in a hotel with this level of excellence, the Internacional Design Hotel has implemented elements and services that distinguish it from the norm, such as the transfer to/from the airport in a luxury van, Nespresso coffee machines and Bravia Sony LEDs (with Internet access, photo viewing and management of media content) in all rooms. In the L rooms a Playstation is also available, as well as a 3D Sony television.
Member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the Internacional design Hotel’s excellence has not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by the multiple awards it has accumulated. Two nominations and the award for ‘Best 4 Star Hotel in Portugal’, the most prestigious award in the Portuguese hospitality industry, the Publituris Travel Awards, and the ‘Certificate of Excellence 2012’ from TripAdvisor as well as the honorary mention as best requalification, by the Portuguese Tourism Bureau.
