family session info My goal is to capture the unique personalities of each of your family members. I aim for natural expressions, so you will never hear me ask you to “say cheese.” I will, however, run and jump around with your kids. In other words, the goal is to have FUN. When kids are having fun, they typically have big smiles on their faces. Success!
baby session info I’m sure you have seen pictures of naked babies all curled up in a wooden bowl, wearing a cute knit hat, sleeping peacefully. Those pictures are great, but not what you are going to get from me. I take a lifestyle approach when photographing newborns. I want to capture the interactions of you & baby in your natural surroundings. It doesn’t take long for those first few weeks at home to become a blur. You will be so happy you have these photos to help you remember those early days with your tiny new baby.
3 tips to a successful photo session 1. Kids are well-rested and have been fed. 2. No one is stressing out about the perfect smile or pose. 3. Everyone is ready to have fun.
Idie is a fantastic photographer. She has an incredible eye and takes photos that are perfectly frozen dynamic moments where her subjects look real and alive and beautiful. My husband and I are in awe of her skill and take great pleasure in her photos on a daily basis. We had a lovely album made and several wall mounted pieces. I honestly can’t thank her enough.
what to wear Clothing should be comfortable and represent your personality. I would steer you away from dressing your kids in their Sunday best. During our session, they will most likely be running around the way they always do. We don’t need the added stress of worrying that their fancy new outfit might get dirty. If it would make things easier, feel free to dress your little ones when you arrive for your session. That way you don’t have to worry about them getting all wrinkled or stained on the drive over. I recommend that your outfits share the same color scheme, but they should not match perfectly. I encourage mixing solid colors with patterns. Think about wearing some layers, too. For example, throw in a pop of color with your scarf or cardigan. Logos, graphic tees, and short skirts should be avoided. Short skirts and shorts are almost never a good idea.
Idie is a fabulous photographer. You can imagine, or you may know, how difficult it is to get little kids to behave for a photo session. My kids were so rowdy I was certain that Idie didn’t get a single good picture and that we would have to rebook the session. Low and behold, she got dozens of great pictures. Our faces seem to pop out vividly from the picture and the landscape is vibrant. Idie came to my house with a tablet to go through all of the pictures that she had selected. She also brought examples of wall hanging formats and picture books and cards. She even brought us a bottle of wine with our family’s picture on the label. She is very professional!
Idie took our family pictures this past Fall and they were amazing!! We have two small kids (4 and 2) and a cat and I can’t imagine trying to capture candid and interesting pictures of a group like that. But, she took amazing pictures and captured each of my kids in beautiful and fun shots that seemed to capture their personalities. And, we have great pictures of our entire family and with small kids who won’t smile on queue, It was nothing short of a magic. And besides being a talented photographer, she’s really great to work with.
Idie was great! Not only did she get some really great shots of our family but she made us feel really comfortable while doing so. She was especially great with our daughter who is usually very shy in front of a camera. I was worried we wouldn’t get a good picture but we ended up having several amazing ones to choose from. Another thing that was great about working with Idie was that when the pictures were done she came by our house to help us choose which pictures would look best where. A huge help! We will definitely use Idie again.
