Editor’s Letter
Hello!
It has been two years since the first edition of I DO: In Southern Illinois. This time has given the magazine room to grow and find its voice. Since the launch of the first publication, I had the pleasure of teaming up with Andrew and Caitlin Rowland of P.S. Designs, LLC. to create a beautiful blog that is able to reach a wider audience. With the ability to instantly share new love stories and dreamy wedding photos, it has been a joy to watch the fan base of I DO: In Southern Illinois grow. It would not have been possible without Andrew and Caitlin’s talents behind the scenes. And it wouldn’t have been possible without each of you taking the time to visit and interact with the website and Facebook page. This issue of I DO: In Southern Illinois is full of inspiration and all things pretty. It started with a comment to Ashlee Erlinger, Director of Catering at Four Points by Sheraton Fairview Heights, about incorporating the hotel in a photo shoot. She immediately agreed and the whole thing grew from there. Ashlee is amazing and found the best vendors to contribute. It’s no wonder she was nominated as one of the top five wedding planners in the St. Louis metropolitan area. She also introduced me to our most valuable collaborator, GiGi Weck. GiGi owns and operates Weck Events and Weddings. She is responsible for all the amazing decorations. I’m forever grateful for her time and commitment to this project. Also, Mallory Minor Photography captured every lovely detail of the photo shoot. She introduced us to her stunning models, Keirston Williamson and Summer Rose Saputo, who endured hours dressed up in the newest fashions provided by Blushing Bride, located in Fairview Heights. Ashlee even rocked a photo shoot in two dresses courtesy of Bridal Manor Waterloo, located in Waterloo. I DO: In Southern Illinois continues to share the love stories from our area and to feature local wedding professionals to make the planning process easier. Thank you for your support and please enjoy the images showcasing the creativity of our featured vendors in this year’s Inspirational Issue.

Four Points by Sheraton Fairview Heights provided us with a beautiful room to get ready before the photo shoot. Above: Ashlee Erlinger checks out her bright red lips. It’s possible she may never go back to neutral lipsticks again. Real Wedding
Swere both attending Southern Illinois
teven and Tara met in July of 2007. They
University in Carbondale. One July night, Tara went to Pinch Penny Pub with her roommates, Wendi and Andrew. While her roommates were talking with some of their classmates, Tara became bored. She had noticed a cute guy hanging out with his friends behind them. Feeling brave, Tara decided to turn around and nonchalantly introduce herself. According to Tara, it did not go as planned and he did not talk much in return. Tara felt a little silly and decided to join her friends. Before she turned around, another guy sparked up a conversation and introduced himself. Turned out his name was Steven. They talked endlessly the entire night. When the bar closed for the night, Steven still had not asked for her number. Feeling brave again, Tara asked, “Well, are you going to get my number or did we just talk all night for nothing? He immediately got her number and called her the next day. They met up at a coffee shop and the rest is history! Oh, and that guy she initially hit on? He is Steven’s best friend and the best man in their wedding!

Tara and Steven had an intimate first look before the ceremony. They were able to have private images captured while they connected ahead of the busy day. 2013

hen planning their wedding, Tara and Steven wanted to avoid items that screamed wedding. In the past few years, they had attended countless weddings and wanted theirs to reflect their preferences. All of the décor at the reception was handmade by the couple. From the invitations to the centerpieces, to the napkins and lace runners, Steven and Tara worked extremely hard for six months to pull it together. This not only helped with their budget, but allowed them to bring in the exact colors and styles they desired. Websites like Pinterest and Wedding Bee were an inspiration, as well as a variety of other design sites. Steven is a professional graphic designer and was able to custom design their print materials.

They incorporated things that reflected them, such as a Bloody Mary Bar (their favorite drink), bluegrass and blues/folk music (during the ceremony and dinner) and a vintage cake topper and cake cutter from Tara’s parents’ wedding. Old wooden spools, antique blue Mason jars, vintage suitcases and books were used as accents throughout the Murphysboro Event Center. Tara said, “We really had a great time making our vision come to life. After six months of nonstop planning, searching, visualizing, and creating, we completely loved the way everything came together. We feel that our wedding perfectly captured our style.”
