Favorite Things

This year, I was more excited than ever to dive headfirst into the planning of Style’s weddings edition, because at the same time, I was diving headfirst into the planning of my own! In August, during the most beautiful Sarasota sunset on the beach, my love of six years got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the biggest surprise, and I cried for two weeks straight. As we began our own brainstorming process, I genuinely appreciated having the magazine as a resource—and though I had previously assigned, edited, read and reread every page of the last four editions, it all had new meaning for me now!

Looking through this year’s local wedding entries was equally exciting. We received more than 70 submissions, and though we don’t have room to run every single one in the magazine (that’s what lehighvallestyleweddings.com is

for!), I gushed over the wedding details of each couple who tied the knot in 2019. With my own wedding in the back of my mind, I’d take note of whose hair I loved and which flowers were my favorite, but more importantly, of how the couples created personal or unique touches that really made the day their own. For a wedding day to truly feel like it was made for that particular couple, what more could one want? Turn to pg. 14 of Lehigh Valley Style Weddings to feel the magic! And when it comes to those little touches—or capturing them in a way that is unparalleled—one must look to Sarah Petryk of Allium Design and notable wedding photographer Alison Conklin. Together, they teamed up to create a feature outlining some of the little details that make the biggest di erence. From cakes to favors to invitations, they’ve seen it all. Turn to pg. 42 of Lehigh Valley Style Weddings for a few of their favorite things.

our publisher, Pam Deller, is looking forward to this month!

JUNE 1948,

THE

INVENTION OF CABLE TELEVISON BY JOHN WALSON SR.

Mr. Walson was an employee of PP&L and along with his wife Margaret, he also owned an electric appliance store in Mahanoy City, where they began selling television sets in 1947. Residents found it impossible to receive the three Philadelphia network stations because of the mountains that surround the city. Mr. Walson erected an antenna tower on a nearby mountain and in searching for a way to increase TV sales, he constructed a line from that antenna site to his store. By extending the line and the signal to individual homes, Walson created the nation’s first cable television system.

I can speak from experience that making the trek to Gobbler’s Knob for Groundhog Day is worth the hassle and the windburn. My fingers and toes have never been so cold! But once the sun came up and Phil made his appearance with his top-hat-wearing cronies, it was glorious!

Pittsburgh! To cheer on the Steelers or Pirates while overlooking the rivers and the city. The view can’t be beat (even if there is a good chance the Pirates will be)!

My favorite getaway destination is Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa in Western PA. It’s also not far to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.

I love going to Philly for the day or weekend to visit my college friends who still live there. We always spend the day exploring, drinking cocktails, eating and, most importantly, catching up on each other’s lives! It’s like I never left.

Longwood Gardens. The bonsai collection is magical! I return with great stories to tell my houseplants.

Cape May—a sleepy shore town with great beaches, dining, shopping and beautiful Victorian houses, all within a short stroll or bike ride.

One of the Just Married stories is a “micro wedding” in the fairy-tale setting of Promise Ridge in the Poconos, and I loved the whole concept. Super-small-scale but just as stunning.

This is the place for you. Imagine exceptional bath, kitchen and lighting products from trusted brands, in settings that help you envision them in your own home. Classic styles alongside the newest trends. A friendly staff offers guidance to ensure that your project goes smoothly.

FILM

Epiphany

JANUARY 12

The glittering waters of a sponge-diving town in Florida form the backdrop for the story of a young girl struggling to connect with a negligent father. Crafted with great love by a Lehigh Valley sister duo, Epiphany screens this month at ArtsQuest’s cinema.

Koula Sossiadis Kazista had spent many years in the film business pestered by a persistent inspiration. It was formed as a teenager visiting Tarpon Springs in Florida with her family, a waterfront town rich with Greek culture. “They have this magical ceremony where the town’s archbishop throws a blessed cross into the water, and all the boys jump in after it,” Kazista says. “The one that comes back out is said to be blessed.” Even as a young person, she saw the cinematic promise in front of her and never forgot it. The Greek spirit running through this universal story paints a unique picture of a dysfunctional family

as it uncovers its past for the main character, teenaged Luka.

While Kazista’s a journalist, her sister Katina Sossiadis is well-versed in visual arts, and brought ideas of color, dream sequences and imagery to the script when Kazista asked her to collaborate. To film, their whole families set up camp far from home in Florida, including the kids. “When we were on set,” Kazista says, “I knew my daughter was proud of me. We’ve been wanting to make this for 30 years. Do not give up on your dreams, that’s the moral of the story.”

The Sossiadis sisters are already at work on their next script, based in the Lehigh Valley and drawing on family history again, this time forged in the foundries of Bethlehem Steel. For now, check out Epiphany at ArtsQuest, or later this month at the Roxy Theatre in Northampton.

BREATHE, EMPOWER, ACHIEVE

5-MINUTE MINDFULNESS FOR WOMEN WHO DO IT ALL BY SHONDA MORALIS

Valley resident, psychotherapist and author of Breathe, Mama, Breathe, Shonda Moralis wrote her latest book, Breathe, Empower, Achieve, for the busy woman looking to better manage her stress. In her words, it’s mindfulness for women who don’t have time for mindfulness.

Through personal anecdotes and interviews with fellow empowered women, Moralis breaks down 50 mindful breaks that can easily be built into even the most chaotic of lives without disrupting one’s schedule. She believes that with the right tools, it only takes five minutes of mindfulness a day to reset and refocus.

MUSIC

Heart Headed

Introducing a fresh rhythmic approach to the typical “guy with a guitar” commonly found in breweries and restaurants, Heart Headed has hit upon a sound that has Ricky Delgado booked week after week, fusing strumming and drumming into something listeners love.

Delgado was born in California, raised in New Jersey, and settled in the Lehigh Valley, where he’s happy to have the country close by. “Twenty to 30 minutes and you’re in the boons,” he says admiringly.

The Valley is also home to a staggering number of venues for a talented musician. Starting on piano as a youngster, he began at open mics when a friend caught him playing music too good not to share. Switching to the more portable guitar, Delgado started to quietly play out, then met Shane Reimer. Thanks to Reimer’s influence, Delgado became faster,

gutsier—more rock and roll. When Reimer’s not on tour, he and Delgado make up the duo Public Displays of Rejection, but on his own, Delgado is Heart Headed, and he’s carved out his own unique style.

Trying to get a fuller sound out of his instrument, Delgado discovered he could hit his cheap, sturdy guitar pretty hard for resonating tones, and it’s certainly been resonating with audiences. “No one is doing this,” Delgado says. “If they can, they’re not trying to.”

There’s a bit more to it than being in demand as “the guy who beats his guitar.” Working with a looping station, he layers beats and harmonies, playing fusion that mixes Latin, blues, jazz and rock. From ’60s to contemporary Top 40 hits, he has a wide repertoire to draw from when he feels out a room and delivers a vibe tailored to the mood.

Find his next gig on Facebook and discover the sound that sets Heart Headed apart.

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

Current Director of Development for St. Luke’s University Health Network, Kelly Chando previously spent time as an employee at United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV), and became increasingly aware of certain challenges children and families face in the community. Chando acknowledges that it was at this point in her career when she became prominently involved in volunteer work.

Chando’s passion for health and women’s leadership is exemplified throughout her volunteer work. She was the co-chair for the Lehigh Valley Women’s Summit two years in a row and continues to broaden her reach around the Lehigh Valley. Today, Chando is involved in three volunteer programs and holds a leadership position in two of them.

After experiencing her own health scare, she became a liated with the American Heart Association. Four days after having an emergency C-section in 2017, Chando was readmitted with preeclampsia, a rare condition that a ects pregnant women. She served as the co-chair for the 2019 Go Red for Women campaign.

Aiding women in more ways than one, Chando is the Vice President of Engagement for the Women’s Business Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, where she plays a role in inspiring local businesswomen.

Expanding her reach even further, Chando also spends her time volunteering as a member of the Board of Governors for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, where she helps improve the economy and quality of life in the community.

NuHouse is comprised of family professionals, doctors and therapists, but the team is concerned with more than just a patient’s physical health. Their focus is on the enhancement of one’s overall well-being.

“NuHouse formed in the pursuit to give power back to people and remind them they can reclaim and be whomever they desire,” founder Janel Lukachek says. “NuHouse just opens the door and provides a tribe to lead, guide and support you.”

Lukachek says that they hold both holistic and mainstream medicine in high regard and believe that answers can be found when both work together. Current o erings include cold laser therapy, concussion pain management, body contouring, system acupuncture, chiropractic care, meditation, yoga and physical therapy. This year, the team at NuHouse plans to add cryotherapy, IV drip and more to their list of services, and will be leading seminars, group talks and group healing for the community.

“Our greatest desire is for all who enter the doors of the House to unplug and be present in the moment to experience all they are intended to be,” Lukachek says. “The space is designed as a home. We desire each individual to use our house as a home of comfort and calming, but high-energy fueling whatever they need to rebuild or heal in that moment—even if it’s a cup of co ee in our café.”

Custom orders are not just an order, but memories, milestones, weddings and simply the celebrations of life!

Speaking of the celebrations of life, tell us about your wedding and special occasion o erings! Wedding and special occasion orders typically start with a cake tasting in our private room with a pastry chef. The pastry chef can help answer any questions the customer may have as far as flavors of cakes, specific details and decoration of their order.

Tell us about the decision to include a flower shop in the bakery—and the name! [It] was a no brainer for many reasons. If you think of all the functions that you attend, 99 percent of the time there is food and flowers. Also, growing up in the Lehigh Valley area, there are bakeries everywhere. I knew that my bakery had to stand out—be di erent and unique. This is where the Corolla part of Cake & Corolla comes from. The definition of corolla is the petals of a flower, typically forming a whorl within the sepals and enclosing the reproductive organs.

Describe the floral o erings available.

In our flower display case, we o er an array of grab-and-go bouquets and table arrangements, and we o er the customer the ability to arrange their own personal bouquet right in store if they like. Not only can they customize their bouquet with the flowers of their choice, but also with a choice of

ribbons and cards to finish o their personal creation.

What’s the best part about being based in Easton?

The best part of Cake & Corolla being based in Downtown Easton is being one of the small shops in the quaint town. It is a great walkable town with a wide variety of shops to choose from. Easton

always has special events going on that businesses can easily get involved in, bringing the di erent businesses and community together. Cake & Corolla has a prime location at the bottom of College Hill and by the overpass of Route 22.

Less is More

MINIMALISM & ZERO-WASTE LIVING

Between the ability to have anything and everything delivered, social media overload and nonstop news cycles, it’s easy to get caught up and overrun with “stu .” We live in a consumer-driven economy and a society where more things equates to more joy and happiness. But that model is showing cracks. Increasing levels of stress, depression, debt and anxiety are pushing people to di erent ways of living. The counter-consumer movements of minimalism and zero waste are gaining traction as ways to streamline both mental and physical environments for more satisfying and productive living.

THE COST OF CLUTTER

One doesn’t have to be a hoarder to feel the physical and psychological e ects of clutter or excess. Papers, knickknacks, stacked closets and unused items that fill up space can be a breeding ground for bacteria and dust, which can trigger allergies and asthma. They can also disrupt a safe, calm environment. We have a strong

Clear, open spaces can contribute to a more tranquil, peaceful environment.

identity with our home environment as a refuge from the chaos of the world. Instead of being a safe space, that refuge of home can easily become a source of anxiety and stress. When one’s environment is compromised, life satisfaction can be greatly impacted— often at a subconscious level, contributing to depression, stress and anxiety. It can also show up as binge-watching television, oversleeping, unhealthy eating choices, a lower sense of well-being and less-e cient visual processing, just to name a few. Clear, open spaces and clean counters can contribute to a more tranquil, peaceful environment, both physically and psychologically.

We are designed for downtime, quiet time, space to recharge—not incessant stimulation.

MENTAL CLUTTER

The pervasiveness of social media, data overload, multitasking, overbooked calendars and overscheduled days creates a busyness that contributes to mental clutter. We are designed for downtime, quiet time, space to recharge— not incessant stimulation. For children and young adults, the times they’re allowed to be “bored” are often the most critical times in developing their creativity and imagination, as well as the executive function in the brain that includes judgment, emotional self-regulation, planning and reasoning. Overscheduling and excessive structure can increase anxiety in children and adults. For adults, that downtime is critical in decompressing and allowing for critical thinking, organizing and integrating thoughts as well as cultivating better relationships. Without it, productivity is actually lower, and mental clutter is now being associated with age-related memory loss.

Minimalism and zero-waste living are two lifestyle movements that can overlap with the idea that “less is more.” The principle of minimalism is consciously paring down in varied aspects of life to allow space and time to focus on what matters. It can manifest in paring down activities to allow for greater quality time with loved ones, and ridding one’s environment

of excess and underutilized items, leaving only what you truly enjoy in your surroundings. Zero-waste living is similar, but the focus is on working towards living choices, habits and purchases that ultimately do not contribute to landfill. Its emphasis is on conscientious purchasing that has a low- or zero-carbon footprint. In this lifestyle choice, pleasure and satisfaction can be gained by helping improve the environment in which we live.

STEPS TOWARD SIMPLIFYING

1. Accept that it’s a process

Simplifying isn’t a once and done, but rather a process. Tackling parts of your home or o ce space, one room or even one drawer at a time, can make the task less daunting. You can also approach it in layers. The first time through, when asking whether to keep or purge items, it may help to leave some items on the fence. Rather than spending time mulling it over, take care of the items that are clearly keep or purge items. Once you have identified items that are in question, it may be easier to purge those questionable items when repeating the process later on, as you realize you didn’t use or need them after all.

2. Begin with a question

In streamlining and moving towards more minimalism, it begins with the question: What is truly important to me and what do I want my life to look like? Experiences and relationships often give more lasting returns for a fulfilling, meaningful life. Answering those questions can begin to establish what and how much stu you wish to have in your life.

3. Create a clutter-free zone

Try committing to keeping a room or zone in your house free from clutter. Keeping that area clean can provide a safe space and a launching area to expand.

4. Develop healthy shopping habits

Checking in with yourself before clicking the “buy now” button is a critical step in developing healthy shopping habits. Pause

How much stu do you really need and are you supplanting stu as a source of pleasure versus meaningful relations and experiences?

for a moment and ask, is it truly needed? Is this purchase an emotional pick-me-up rather than a need? Depending on the purchase amount, will you still be getting the same joy from the product in a month, six months or a year? And then, what is the environmental impact of purchasing that item?

5. Feel good about helping others

It is often di cult to let go of items that you aren’t using because of the worry that you might use them sometime in the future. You also spent money on them, so it may feel like you wasted money. Instead of sitting in the closet, not being utilized, recognize that there is someone out there in need that could be putting it to use immediately and be getting tremendous joy from the item. If it is a largerticket item, sitting in the box doesn’t make you feel any better about the money spent and gives no monetary return. With so many online options, reselling can be incredibly easy and put cash in your pocket.

6. Schedule downtime

Taking conscious breaks from media and technology is a critical discipline. Reducing email checks to designated times of the

day and putting strict time parameters on social media exposure can help limit the negative multitasking impact on the brain. Stepping away from all technology at some point during the day is vital to everyone’s health. Having a meal with no technology on or near the table can help guarantee 30 to 60 minutes of downtime and may even help relationships.

The question becomes: How much stu do you really need and are you supplanting stu as a source of pleasure versus meaningful relations and experiences?

One does not need to go to the extremes as seen in popular shows like Tiny House, Big Living, but beginning to question what is truly necessary can lead to more meaningful and stress-free living.

Don’t Just Take Their Word for It...

Liven Up Fitness, founded by Whitney and Chris Carullo, was created to be far more than just a gym. The vision was to create a space that was much more inclusive, caring and supportive than what’s typically expected in the fitness industry. Chris and Whitney knew that assembling a team of unique individuals who approach health and wellness di erently would be one of the key factors in Liven Up’s success.

The coaches at Liven Up cater to any fitness level, ranging from the novice gym-goer to former collegiate athletes. Working in small groups of six or less, clients can expect an individualized and results-driven approach, all while having fun doing it! Their mission is not only to increase a client’s lifespan, but their playspan as well—the ability to stay up and moving, active and getting the most out of life. These functional, individualized workouts elicit results such as increased lean muscle mass, decreased body fat, more energy, increased strength and flexibility, to name a few!

But what else can be gained when becoming a

part of Liven Up? From monthly social outings to giving back to the community, the Liven Up team provides opportunities for their members to step out of their comfort zone, get vulnerable and reap unexpected benefits. Many of their members refer to the Liven Up community as their “FitFam”—but don’t just take their word for it.

Longtime client Melanie found “the love of pushing myself out of my comfort zone,” having done things like push-ups and deadlifts. Carla, who has been a member for over five years, said she has met lifelong friends at Liven Up. FitFam member Jess, a working mom of two, says she has discovered self-confidence that she never knew was missing—not only outward, but inside as well.

But perhaps the most unique aspect of the Liven Up community, as stated by member Dennis, a regular 5 a.m.-er, is the unexpected benefit of “the FitFam caring about your success.” Imagine that: all 300+ members of a community caring about the success of one person. The Liven Up FitFam, although attending their sessions at varying

times, stays in touch with one another via a private Facebook Group. Harnessing the power of social media for good, members are able to share their successes, reach out for support and ultimately turn Facebook friends into real-life friends, and lasting connections.

Kimch i Fries LITTLE MISS KOREA

Owner of Little Miss Korea, Lobynn Cha was introduced to kimchi fries on a trip to Austin, Texas, in 2017, when a KoreanMexican fusion food truck was serving them.

“There were lines around the truck and down the road,” she says. “For good reason.”

“They were delicious—topped with chunks of meat, a special sauce and a mild pico de gallo,” says Cha. When she returned home from her trip, she tried to recreate the sauce and, in her opinion, made an even better version.

(garlic ginger chicken, bulgogi beef or spicy pork), gochujang aioli (a blend of gochujang, Korean red pepper paste, chipotle peppers and mayonnaise), chopped kimchi, sesame seeds and scallions.

Cha recommends enjoying them with one of their homemade drinks, like the Korean Green Plum Tea or their Berry Hibiscus Tea with blackberry. They also have alcoholic beverage options, which are available in trendy drink pouches.

Nicole & Andrew

THE PROPOSAL

Online dating was the only way to try to squeeze love into Nicole Rivera and Andrew McGill’s busy schedules. Andrew “Super Liked” Nicole, and when they met at a bowling alley soon after, she discovered that she Super Liked him back. Nicole thought she had traveled to her parents’ house for her mother’s birthday, but when Andrew appeared on her doorstep to propose, it turned out the party was for their engagement.

THE BIG DAY

Their summer ceremony took place under a rustic gazebo with guitar accompaniment. They’d wanted simple décor and a tent reception, and the Riverview Country Club delivered its own version of their dream come true. Inside a beautiful stone building, white and rosy coral flowers set o their reception. Floor-toceiling windows around 270 degrees of the structure hung open to keep them surrounded by natural air and light as friends and family celebrated their love.

Tara & Ian

ALISON CONKLIN PHOTOGRAPHY

THE PROPOSAL

Tara McGuire and Ian Diehl

met at a college Bible study and then hit it o at the annual Ugly Sweater Party. On a romantic picnic at Monocacy Creek, Ian sprung his proposal plan, which was almost foiled by his dog, Ellie, noticing family hiding behind a nearby tree.

THE BIG DAY

Their big day was sheer perfection, held in the peak of fall in the Poconos where fiery foliage illuminated the landscape. Drawing on nature’s theme, their wedding colors matched the trees in burgundy, orange and chocolate. Ian and Tara’s love of dogs and Notre Dame football showed in personal touches added to the event, and Tara herself choreographed a waltz to the song “From the Ground Up” by Dan + Shay, performed gracefully by the newlyweds. Following the reception, an after-party at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn gave them a chance to wind down and relax with out-of-town guests.

THE PROPOSAL

As votes were tallied and everyone else began to lose heart at an Election Day party in 2016, Nathan Diehl was struck by Paul Mongold’s unflagging hope. They built a beautiful relationship, and during Nathan’s birthday dinner, Paul was surprised with a gift. It was a photo book of their time together, with Chapter Two leading into their future with a question: “Will you marry me?”

THE BIG DAY

Their celebration at Vault 634 reflected the couple’s love of art and culture, with a globally influenced menu and tables named for their favorite Broadway theaters. In the Upper Mezzanine, their ceremony included songs from Disney and Ben Folds performed by friends both local and hot o the Broadway stage, and their first dance took a song from the latest Royal Wedding. Guests signed dozens of floating lanterns on a hanging guest book and danced the night away to ’80s and ’90s tunes.

Stephanie & David

THE PROPOSAL

Match.com brought Stephanie Yachim and David Levits together for a first date at The Mint on a snowy February day. Despite calling to cancel, David changed his mind at the sound of her voice. Five years later, on the day he achieved an MBA from DeSales, he turned a graduation speech into a proposal.

THE BIG DAY

With mirror signage, copper pillar centerpieces made by David and the help of amazing vendors, these two spent a year working out every detail of the experience o ered to their wedding guests at Glasbern Inn. A memorial seat was set aside for Stephanie’s departed father, and a family tree display included the relatives watching from above. Their mission: to leave their family and friends talking about the epic experience of a quintessentially “Steph and Dave” event. Coming o a packed dance floor to a sparkler send-o , this intricately thought-out wedding day was one to remember.

THE PROPOSAL

Katie Wallace and Isaac Santana met on a film set on the DeSales University student cinema scene, but it wasn’t until four years later that they locked eyes across a Bethlehem bar and got to know each other. When they’d reached the point of proposal, Isaac made his move during a trip to Dallas, Texas, in the privacy of their Airbnb.

THE BIG DAY

Stormy weather tried to slow down their big day, but they snagged their photos amid the grapevines and moved inside before rain hit. In the dreamy setting of Folino Estate Vineyard and Winery, their wedding day vision was brought to life by DIY décor made possible by a generous family e ort. The DJ kept them surrounded by loving family and friends on the dance floor for hours, and the sun returned for a beautiful sunset encore. A dramatic sparkler send-o ushered them into their life as a happily married couple.

THE PROPOSAL

Colleagues at St. Luke’s University Health Network, Christine Heckman and Haley Kavelak soon became a loving couple. At Joshua Tree National Park, seated in a convertible under the night sky, Christine revealed that she’d named a star for Haley in the International Star Registry, and wanted to marry her.

THE BIG DAY

Haley’s brother o ciated in a space resplendent with bamboo pillars and succulents. Scrumptious vegan cuisine included a naked wedding cake made by Christine’s 13-year-old cousin. Haley’s late father had a loving presence at the wedding, appearing in a locket in her bouquet, a “something blue” heart cut from one of his shirts and pinned to her dress and featured in a surprise from Haley’s brother, who set clips from home movies to the song “Butterfly Kisses” for a brothersister dance that had the whole room in tears. Amanda & Shane

THE PROPOSAL

Amanda DeHaven and Shane Austin met far from their native Eastern Pennsylvania, teaching high school science in Manassas, Virginia. She started to ply him for swimming tips and the friendship turned to more. After a basketball game at Amanda’s alma mater, Shane popped the question at the Syracuse Kissing Bench, where legend has it liplocking sweethearts are destined to be together forever.

THE BIG DAY

Their intimate “microwedding” consisted of 18 guests (plus their dog, Cece). An Airbnb hosted their guests from Friday all the way to Sunday for a long weekend party. It was punctuated by their wedding at Promise Ridge, a secluded ceremony space in the Poconos only nine minutes from where Amanda grew up. Alisa Tongg o ciated a very personal and heartfelt event followed by cake and champagne. Their microparty took the festivities to dinner at Stroudsmoor Country Inn, then headed back to their Airbnb to continue the celebration.

THE PROPOSAL

Alyssa Principato and Dan Bell met during their college years. Dan plotted his proposal while Alyssa was away on a business trip, making his move upon her return with all their closest friends waiting outside to celebrate.

THE BIG DAY

With a first look photo shoot at the Moravian Book Shop, and holiday carolers adding to the charm of Downtown Bethlehem, the Christmas City was a major player in their special day. Their crisp winter wedding was held in the Mural Ballroom at Hotel Bethlehem, transformed into a winter wonderland by their florist. Jen & Dan

LV PHOTOGRAPHY

THE PROPOSAL

Daniel Callen worked magic at a college party by making a quarter disappear behind Jennifer Mickley’s ear, and then going in for the smooth handshake that started their life together. One day, after the whole family gathered to see Dan and his twin brother, Matt, o on a road trip, Dan circled back, pretending he forgot something, and proposed to Jen on one knee.

THE BIG DAY

Their wedding was held on a beautiful spring day at Blue Mountain Resort, commencing with a cotton candy sunset. The wedding party donned funky outfits to walk in to Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop,” and with Dan getting his PhD in organic chemistry, the table names glittered as elements on the periodic table. “Second parents” to the couple, their maid of honor’s and best man’s parents dressed in a hue to be their “something blue,” and brother Matt and bridesmaid Alissa dueted “Lucky” by Jason Mraz for the couple’s first dance.
