THE FACE OF Women’s Heart & Vascular Care
Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute
Heart disease is the number one cause of death for women in the U.S., affecting one in five.
Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute and its Women’s Heart and Vascular Program are out to improve those odds.
The Women’s Heart and Vascular Program, formed over 20 years ago, is one of the largest of its kind in the country. The program’s team of experienced, caring female cardiologists understand women have unique risk factors, symptoms and treatment for cardiovascular disease, and they’re passionate about achieving great outcomes.
They’re experts in their field, some even speaking internationally on topics including maternal heart health and cardio-oncology, a branch of medicine that focuses on potential detrimental effects of some cancer drugs on the heart.
Here, women can partner with women for prevention, treatment and management of a wide range of heart conditions. Life events like pregnancy and menopause, cancer therapies or conditions like peripheral artery disease and high cholesterol, are among things that can present unique heart health challenges for women.
Women are different than men. And that includes their heart.
