After Cobra’s invasion of the Southeast Asian nation of Nanzhao, the G.I. Joe team thinks Snake Eyes is dead. In reality, he’s agreed to join the ninja clan of his sword-brother, Storm Shadow. Before heading to Tokyo, though, he visits the Hard Master and Alondra in New York. He reassures the Hard Master that he has not given in to the Arashikage: he is infiltrating the clan in order to destroy it from within. When Snake Eyes arrives in Tokyo, Storm Shadow greets him enthusiastically and reveals their first target: Zartan!
