After the Infestation, magic was altered greatly, resulting in both CVO agents Britt and Cross absorbing all of CVO’s magic-tech “Artillica.” They just discovered that when they’re together, they can accomplish great things with the Artillica inside them both. Which would’ve been good news had Agent Cross not just had his newly techno-organic, non-beating vampiric heart torn out of his chest by an angry alien. While trapped in hell alongside the rest of CVO―minus Yumiko the snake-changer, who was struck dead moments before―surrounded by scores of evil aliens and vengeful demons.

Which makes you realize that a lot happened last issue, but even more is going to happen here, as we barrel along toward the conclusion of our tale, which answers the question “did they really retool CVO just to kill off all of the team’s members?”
