he Colton City Council held a special meeting on Tuesday January 27, deciding to place the California
University of Science and Medicine (Cal Med) as their top priority for 2015. "The council is all in agreement to move the project forward," said Mayor Richard De La Rosa. "This project is important to myself and

Three time CIF Southern Section Field Hockey championship coach Allen Shore passed away on January 16. She was 83-years-old.
llene Shore was loved by both students and faculty at Colton High School. The three time CIF Southern Section Field Hockey championship coach passed away on January 16 from a brief illness at her home in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was 83-years-old. According to former colleagues, friends, and former students, Shore was a person with a warm heart that devoted the majority of her time to her Field Hockey players. "She was a wonderful lady," said former Colton High School counselor Helena “Pat” Tarbaux. "She had students there that loved her. The girl’s respected her. I never had a student come to me to complain about her and there was never one negative thing said about her." Her influence resulted in the development of student-athletes in field hockey as they transitioned from high school to universities and ultimately to elite Olympian level. Allene paved the way for her studentathletes to achieve their Olympic dreams. Two in particular, Annette Espinoza and Jade Carvalho, achieved that goal. Carvalho was named into the 2013 Hall of Fame at CSU Long Beach. After retiring in 1994, Allene became a dedicated traveler with her long-time friends, and was an avid Shore cont. on next page
